Mary Karr's a great writer, but maybe she's spent too much time in WASPland. "I could have made more money working at Walmart" ??? Honey, real people work at Walmart. They don't make much money and they sure lead harder lives than the literati. Wake up.
@natebendix The statement was "I could have made more money working at McDonald's." Which says something about your attention span and your comprehension. I think you read way to much in the statement she made. How about you just lighten up some.
I'll be featuring you on my writers blog along with pamela paul (where I read an article about you july 9th 2010 called the author takes a star turn.. working ...
did anyone video tape you at Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference in Grapevine?
please let me know if they have posted a video on youtube :) thanks..
the idea girl says wordpress. i'll message you when its up!
This video, while compelling, does not even *hint* at the mind-blowing parties Karr throws with words in the book itself. She is a scary good writer. Maybe they should put some of the text in the trailer next time? Her poetic language is the star--I don't care what the Styles section says! (still: You go on with your bad self Ms. Karr!)
Good luck with book tour. Reading NYT sunday book review, Cheever likes it so I tried Youtube. I forgot about & now memories return having The Liars Club signed w/ nice note from you (a parent had passed) as you were seeing Mark Falcone crica '98-99. I went to London for 8 years and am back trying to find my writer voice/pen. Good luck again.
Wow you are awesome! Can't wait to start reading again, I can relate to a lot of what you said..Your wedding? Ha, carbon copy!

@natebendix Have you read her book? She's making a joke. She's had a really tough life and still manages to have a great sense of humor. Relax.

I love this woman! She is soooo inspirational, I'm her newest, biggest fan! Love her, love her, love her!

kind of reminds me of a gal bragging about how drunk she got at a party
yet I find her strangely attractive for a hot middle aged woman.

I'm in the middle of "LIT"
I also read the Liars Club and Cherry and could really relate.
Thanks for putting the humor into pain and dysfunction. You look great for having drunk so much in your life.
How do you do it??
