I believe that was Josh's way of telling the show runners they screwed over Meredith Monroe and her character Andie. He knew that his character belonged with Andie.

@TL23455: Wow, Meredith Monroe is in fact the OLDEST cast member out of the "kids" - James V.D Beek is 33 now but Meredith is 41! In my view, like TL23455's, the writers - as Josh has said in other interviews - Pacey was going to be a side character in the Dawson and Joey relationship but was developed more due to popularity. Andie, written in as a new main character, used as a vehicle to develop Pacey then written off the show, without acknowledging her contribution would be unfair. Go MM!
