I've got an ingrown nail driving me crazy right now. I did some "at home" surgery which worked great, but it grew back the same way again. Don't have enough nail to work with yet. Need to let it grow before I can start digging in there again. ='(
@CountryCutie413 No health insurance. After watching this video I took a box cutter and sliced the nail all the way to the base, then used tweezers to rip out the ingrown part. Still a little sore but it's healing up and feeling better each day. Been applying an anti-biotic gel after soaking it in epsom saltwater with hydrogen peroxide mixed in.
Yes the surgery is totally pain but for me, I had to get my whole big toenail removed even though I barely felt a thing but when I had to replace the bandages, it would hurt because my doctor didn't put a non-stick bandage so some of the stuff from the bandage stuck to my bare flesh and nerves in my big toe so I had to be really careful replacing though it did hurt like a bitch but I only had to do it 2-3 times.
the second time I had an ingrown toenail I cut it out myself... without painkillers. That was a hell of a bloody mess and it felt like torture, but now it's ok. I wish I had this doctor to remove it... that self-surgery was torture. After 4 minutes of cutting pieces of my nail I I had lost feeling in my toe, because the pain receptors didn't work any more. ...
I had this done in India, including a tetanis shot, antibiotics for around 50 US Dollars...Who needs insurance over here...On the other hand I had a compound fracture of my left femur with a bone graft in the US and the bill was 300K...
I got this done, i had to get like 4 shots in my toe at the beginning and it hurt so bad! After that i didn't feel a thing, but i was freaking out anyways, haha. I almost passed out!! Then when the numbness went away it hurt VERY badly for the following 3-4 days after i had the procedure! It also got infected! I had to soak it in Epsum salts twice a day and take antibiotics! Not a pleasant experience, especially since I'm a whimp when it comes to pain.
I got this done today, Im only 13. The shots hurt okay. like badddd. and shots never hurt me. then when he started cutting it stilll hurt! then i got another shot and it was good. nut oww.
I've had ingrown toenails since I was 19 I'm 46 now. I have gotten use to doing maintenance on them by prying them up with a fork and pouring peroxide in them. This boils out the infection I also have to stick a sterile object in the crevices to scrape out any dirt or sock lint. Every time I go scuba diving sand gets in them and I just know to boil and clean before they get infected. I was going to get them removed, but it seems once you do that they just come back anyway.
i am getting this done tomorrow. i've had this ingrown toenail for a month now and i am ready for it to go away. damn thing hurts really bad...... >.<
ive had 12 surgeries for ingrowns, infected as hell... a tip is ; never remove the nail completely,!!! it just grows back up and gets ingrown from the start which makes it impossible to cure...
shit your lucky man the doc just cut my toenail in half then took the whole thing out and scraped the crap out of my toe so it wouldnt grow back now ive got no toe nail
toenail infection can be very common among people but sometimes it can be hard to find a product that will actually work. i had that problem for about two years until i tried tineacide by dr. blaine. tineacide helped my feet.
man i get them every few months and they come on real fast in about a week ive had 7 now and they make me miserable.. the doctors poured acid in there and it hasnt done any good this new one i have is getting removed in like a week or 2. they are possibly one of the most miserable parts of my life :c
I've had three ingrown toenails removed two on the right and one on the left foot the only reason I had two removed on the right is bc i didn't ask the doctor to get rid of the root the first time but to kill the root my doctor just put some weird black stuff into the sides of my toes
@KatieKatMoon: no not during the procedure. I had mine about 8 hours ago and I am feeling mild pain in my foot as my body wakes up. Its starting to get worse but nothing tylenol and Motrin can't fix.
@Katiekatmoon You dont feel a thing if you have a good doctor. I had it done today but only on the inside of the toe. Then nail was not removed, but I couldn't feel anything. The worst part is getting poked with the needles to numb you up. That feels like you are giving blood or getting a flu shot.
@TheArizona48 i feel for you, i just had my first yesterday and i couldnt believe how much it hurt (but it might be because i had minimal pain medication), i cant imagine having to do it five times XD
I got the toenail on my big toe (left foot) removed just this past Tuesday. I had really bad toe fungus to the point where the nail was actually lifting up from the nail bed. It also hadn't grown in a year. Couldn't feel a thing when he was removing it because he gave me like 4 shots of anesthetic. It is still pretty painful to the touch though. :/
For anyone who hasn't had this happen, the shots hurt REALLY bad, but afterwards you cant feel ANYTHING, i took a knife when i got home and i cut the side of my toe for kicks
How long does the toe hurt/take to heal? because i want mine to be removed but do not know if it is the best idea since i have a trekking camp in 2 and a half weeks :S
@bloodyredhair i had this procedure done last thursday, and i have been jogging and running around since sunday, keepit wrapped up nice and tight for he first few days and take ibuprofen, the freezing lasts about 24 hours, its not totaly numb for the whole 24, only about 2 hours after that its a tingle but you will be more than ready for your trek!!
I had the same procedure done today! My Dr. Prescribed me to this local podiatrist! Cost about $425.00CDN but luckily it is covered by my plan! Once the numbing is in you actually don't feel a darn thing! My numbing is wearing off now but no pain? I go in tomorrow to switch these bandages and done! If I knew how simple and painless this procedure was, I would have had this done years ago!!! All the years of pain and discomfort for nothing!!! If you have this problem, do yourself a favor and ha
I had an ingrown nail removed on my right big toe about 15 years ago. My doctor back then, used the old electric cauterizer as opposed to the phenol to kill the root. When the anesthetic wore off, it hurt so damn bad! Unfortunately, I couldn't get my pain pills until the next day. I didn't sleep much that night!
i got this done on 1 side of a toe.. i now have 2 other spots where the toes are ingrown, on the otherside of where i had the surgery and on my other big toe.. i just get a knife and cut it out.
An ingrown toenail is one of the worst situation if infected and no doctor visit and no care it can get infected usuallyswolens and pus also if too late doctors while have to cut off toe to not let infection go to all ur leg if too late srry to say this but ull die or they'll cut off ur whole leg
I had an in grown toe nail. it was only in grown on one side, at the top a lil bit. The ass hole removed my entire nail. I was about 7 and he wudnt listen to wat i had to say, where abouts the pain was or nothing. He didnt tell me either my whole nail was going to be removed. IT WAS TOTALLY 100% UNNESSARY what he did. All because children should be seen and not heard. He was asking my mom where the pain was and her questions. HE DESTROYED MY FOOT AND IT DIDNT NEED TOBE REMOVED. :(
I don't know about anyone who have experienced this, but being a resident in the UK, the National Health Service seem to not take patients with this condition very seriously. When I had it first done on both toes, I had to wait 6 hours at the hospital before I had it done, and they went and messed one up, so the toenail became ingrown again. I had that corrected in October last year. Now Guess What!? It has started to ingrown again in the last few days. SERIOUSLY NHS! FIX THIS ISSUE NOW!
Yeah! They tug the roots of the nail out, and the sticks have Phenol on the end which eradicates the nail, so it wont come back there again, and you'll get a nice thin nail for life :D
Relax! :) The needle to numb your toe hurts a bit going in - just hold your breath and brace if you are scared of needles. After about 15 minutes you wont feel a thing! Honestly, I feel so good for having mine done now.
@ImprovedMexican Im very nervous :[ im only 11 and ive never had a procedure do you feel anything while their working on it, and are you looking when their doing it? im having it done tomorrow on both toes :[
Honestly mate don't worry about a thing! I was so nervous yesterday, I'm 17, It must be very daunting for you! But honestly, the only bad bit is the injection(s). I just closed my eyes and held my breath while the needle went in, and after it was numb I couldn't feel any pain at all! I wouldn't advise looking, because my tornicae didn't work and it was a bit bloody. But I just got back from getting the bandage changed, and it actually looks fine! Good luck buddy!
@ImprovedMexican Thank you everything you said was true only the injections hurt but i didn't feel anything either :) Im glad i wont have any more problems... and i didnt look either thanks again :D
dr hochstein...as i said before, this is the best procedure ive seen on youtube. im no doctor but i have to do this to my toe quite frequently. very neat, fast and professional.
Hey there, I had my procedure done today. I am due to play a charity football game 6 days after it, so I will let you know if it heals in time for that! Does that sound good? :D
Oh feel free to follow me on Twitter @iPodiatrist :) I often have times when you can ask me questions and I give direct answers,....oh did I mention its FREE
Wow amazing 68,000 views I guess Im Famous now, I am Dr. Alec Hochstein, my practice is in Great Neck, NY. I am glad this video gave you some comfort, simple elegant procedure with very high success rate.
@skatementality99 I had an ingrown toenail about as deep as this person's (only on one side though) and my dad removed it with tweezers, clippers and his pocket knife and I wasn't numbed. Digging out the nail fucking hurts like a bitch. Just take the shot, I guarantee it isn't as painful as the actual procedure.
I had this same exact thing done to my toes. I had 4 ingrown toenails. 2 on each big toe at the same exact time. I had this exact same procedure done on both toes, and I have not had any ingrown toenails in about 20 years now.
Okay, so this sergery was is in Great Neck, NY.....What is the Doctors name and location(hospital/surgery center name) if you dont mind telling me. My fiance needs this surgery badly. You said you also have had no further complications. He needs this. He's had many surgeries, all failed attempts. Any idea of the cost?
only if it was that easy to my lil sis shes only 11 and she had to get the ingrown toenail removed on Friday @the foot and ankle dr. in LV but it was also funny to see her getting tourtured im NOT mean BTW! but after the shot she was perfectly fine NO CRY when they opened her bubble and took the nail out! gr glad i didnt get one! haha
@Allymunky1985 the first few hours after you start getting your feeling back in your toe it might be unconfortable with the bandage on cause the toe isnt getting much air, it might hurt a bit but thats why we got painkillers... :)
Nice video. I've had 5 ingrown toenails. 2 partials and 3 permanent. My doctor told me it was rare and about a 4% chance that the chemicals wouldn't work and I would end up with more ingrown toenails. Guess I was in that 4%. lol
so...a lot of you will think this is grose. I myself have had numerous in-grown toe nail surgerys in the past. Seeing the excess nail come out of the sides, brings releif to my aching, dancing feet! I love these kinds of videos. :)
This doctor is great hes a really cool guy he cut my ingrown toe nail SHIT HURTS LIKE HELL because my toe was infected so i didn't get any Anastasia so i had to do it the regular way BTW this doctor works in court street now he was showing me how a permanent procedure looks like and i took down the user
(doc if ur watching this its the tall football player thanks)
just had mine done this week - this video inspired me. very pleased. i know it will NEVER bother me again. maybe next year i'll do the other big toe - just 4 fun.
only pain was the healing these last few days - similar to the pain i had every few months when nail would return. this time is the last time of the pain
Was this honestly painless because when I had mine removed the docter didn't really numb the area and I felt all of it, which was hell, and mine keep comming back, so i have to keep removing them myself, which is also hell. Did your's come back too? man, I need to find this dude, he did a through job! All mine did was cut the nail and put a bandaid on.
this podiatrist is good......I have my nail removed and the root killed a few years ago. it's always the big toe in most of the videos (it thinks it can take over)
i couldnt even watch this then i realized, im getting this done tomorrow and screamed

Yeah! They tug the roots of the nail out, and the sticks have Phenol on the end which eradicates the nail, so it wont come back there again, and you'll get a nice thin nail for life :D

no you dont feel anything the only thing that you feel is a liquid they spray on before the shot it kind of tingles but nothing to flip about

Okay anyone who is having this done:
Relax! :) The needle to numb your toe hurts a bit going in - just hold your breath and brace if you are scared of needles. After about 15 minutes you wont feel a thing! Honestly, I feel so good for having mine done now.
ImprovedMexican 10 months ago
@ImprovedMexican Im very nervous :[ im only 11 and ive never had a procedure do you feel anything while their working on it, and are you looking when their doing it? im having it done tomorrow on both toes :[
99iluvjustinbieber 10 months ago
@99iluvjustinbieber
ImprovedMexican 10 months ago
@ImprovedMexican Thank you everything you said was true only the injections hurt but i didn't feel anything either :) Im glad i wont have any more problems... and i didnt look either thanks again :D

After The Shot, Everybody Told Me You Dnt Feel A Thing, But That The Shot Is The Worst And Most Painful Part! I DNT WANT THE SHOT!!!
skatementality99 10 months ago
@skatementality99 I had an ingrown toenail about as deep as this person's (only on one side though) and my dad removed it with tweezers, clippers and his pocket knife and I wasn't numbed. Digging out the nail fucking hurts like a bitch. Just take the shot, I guarantee it isn't as painful as the actual procedure.

bishop1029 11 months ago
I had this same exact thing done to my toes. I had 4 ingrown toenails. 2 on each big toe at the same exact time. I had this exact same procedure done on both toes, and I have not had any ingrown toenails in about 20 years now.

How much did it hurt after? I need this done really badly!
Allymunky1985 1 year ago
@Allymunky1985 the first few hours after you start getting your feeling back in your toe it might be unconfortable with the bandage on cause the toe isnt getting much air, it might hurt a bit but thats why we got painkillers... :)

Nice video. I've had 5 ingrown toenails. 2 partials and 3 permanent. My doctor told me it was rare and about a 4% chance that the chemicals wouldn't work and I would end up with more ingrown toenails. Guess I was in that 4%. lol

does it acually stay away for good? because i got my done different, they like sliced and diced my ones haha.

The worst part is the numbing shots they give you before the procedure, after that, it's totally pain free.

See, I like it how they do the acid to prevent an in grown in the future. Other places don't normally do that.
TheLizardLover 1 year ago
so...a lot of you will think this is grose. I myself have had numerous in-grown toe nail surgerys in the past. Seeing the excess nail come out of the sides, brings releif to my aching, dancing feet! I love these kinds of videos. :)

just had mine done this week - this video inspired me. very pleased. i know it will NEVER bother me again. maybe next year i'll do the other big toe - just 4 fun.
only pain was the healing these last few days - similar to the pain i had every few months when nail would return. this time is the last time of the pain
