  • YES!!!

  • This is the onliest existing clip from Red Allen´s Quartet praised by Miles Davis & Don Ellis; with Lannie Scott(p) Bennie Moten(b) poss. Ronnie Cole (dm). Red Allen was so impressed by that event that he collected a lot of press clips in his scrapbook. Do exist other clips ?

  • @hoffmannjazz It sounds like Red introduces the bass player as something like "Franklyn Skeet," no? Perhaps this was Red's earlier quartet from the London House in Chicago with Franklyn Skeet on bass, Jerry Potter on drums, and Sam Price on piano.

Was Bennie Moten the bass player related to the pianist bandleader by the same name?
