This game was probably the most comprehensive flight simulators at the time. Virtually every key on the keyboard had a function, it was great to play. Too bad nobody invests in games like these anymore.

Hey Man I was just wondering is there any way of getting this game to play on Windows 7 64 bit version or would I have to simply just get over the fact that this game is too old to run on that OS?

@Izzack10 I think it works but the setup does not work.

You could try a VM, but I think there are work arounds. Always nice to have an XP machine nearby.

Hey RenegadeFury I have been trying to get Tie Fighter Collectors CD to run in dosbox on Ubuntu but the joystick is giving me trouble. Any advice?

Standard USB. The game detects it, but it either pulls to the top left or only reads when I move it down or to the right.

@colmeweb I think I had that problem on tie fighter in DOSbox. I am playing the game through wine, google for joystick tie fighter in google, there is a fix.

Try wine first though.

I used to have this game for my Windows 95.

Imagine if they re-released this game with online capabilities.

I can picture it now....

Some random player on my team: "Someone, I need someone on my flank! This [insert name of enemy fighter here] is shooting at me!"

Me: "Hang on, I'll get him!" [I start firing rapidly & accidentally hit my friend's fighter because the enemy fighter dodges some of my shots]

Random player: "Why are you shooting at me?"

Awesome. I think back then people put much more effort into games. Today it's just all these whacky graphics and sounds, nothing else matters.

@Koseiku For the most part, games made back in the 80s & 90s are much better (& much more fun) than later games in my opinion & they (video game developers) didn't even have most of the same technology they have today.

Back then it was 8 bit (NES), 16 bit (Super Nintendo & Sega Genesis) & 32 bit (PlayStation). Back then, only some PC games were the only games you could play online.
