  • This is a great video

  • very interesting video thanks

  • brilliant video

  • I have a Physics exam in 2 weeks, you saying everything I've studied is a SHAM?! :O

  • Just thinking out loud: what if the particle was already a part of the light wave/particle or just on the outside during launch m; maybe the particle is dragged behind and through friction on the light particle/wave the particle rides/rotates forward on the face of light making it appear faster then light?

  • Always something faster,,think no limits,,,Or think in simplicity,,there is always bigger and smaller,,left and right,,light and dark,,but even these as equal opposites are but steps on the great ladder of truth, And that ladder always has a step above it and below it, never reaching an end either way it goes. The limits of ones imagination may perceive it as starting or stopping here or there,,or having a beginning or end, but that's not how it really is in light of the bigger picture,

  • Light travels faster in things like water, was this experiment done in a vacuum like space?

  • @WONDOCTORJ I think you have it the wrong way around. Light travels faster in air than water. And a vacuum is the optimum conduit.

  • Einstein was full of shit but the scientific world 'believed' his theory without understanding it for over a hundred years. But then some of these morons believe in Aliens (directed panspermia).

  • well, these experimental results are probarbly incorrect.

Aljazeera isnt reporting this very well, because from supernova observations there already is data that shows that neutrinos are slower than photons. So this new cern result is the odd one out, and there already is data that contradicts it.

i think there is a high chance that they will find the error or do other experiments that then dont confirm this, and a very low chance that this eally is something new, which would be exciting.

  • That's one big 'Fuck You' to Albert Einstein! XD

  • 1) Time has always been a constant in that it's relative.

    2) We already know there are other faster-than-light particles.

    3) I believe the implied issue is can those particles go sub-light speed thus leading to a method of making sub-light particles jump the speed-of-light barrier, as we know it.

  • @Kelt4ever

    "Faster than light particles"

What? No. Care to explain that ridiculous statement? Light itself is relative. Traveling towards it, or away to it, relative to you, it's always traveling the same speed away. Experiments have been done to prove this. It travels 3e8 m/s. If we were to be going @ 3e7 m/s light would still be travel 3e8 relative to us.

  • Does this mean that Time (It self) is not constant?

Is There an ebb and flow to Time?

Not such a rigid structure securing ALL?

  • @Mryouknowme2well

Yep, time's not constant. It's speed dependent. In fact, its so apparent that we need to calibrate our GPS systems, and calibrate and synch our communication with astronauts. Time actually goes slower for someone in a rocket ship/orbiting than for us. The faster your moving, the slower time is. In fact, theoretically time goes slower for someone driving a car vs someone sitting still- but that's EXTREMELY negligible.

  • The reporting of this story is full of errors. The speed of light is a limit in flat space time. Perhaps neutrinos have characteristics, near zero mass, that enable them to travel through another dimension which is closed to more massive particles.

  • I bet they've miscalculated the distance from Cern to Italy, i.e. the curve of the earth or something.

  • Is it possible that the world is not flat? Is it possible that human's can make machines that fly? What use to be impossible according to SCIENCE was dependent on the current methods measurements and instrumentation to observe measure record etc.Scientists seem to have been and still are the factor/element that holds back/stagnates, learning more about the universe, reality, matter and time! I'm holding my breath it's about time science lives/grows again, I thought it was dead.

  • @grangersmith "Scientists seem to have been and still are the factor/element that holds back/stagnates,"

Oh shut up you silly moron!

Without science you wouldn´t be able to post your retarded verbal flatulence online!

  • @RegioLunar Oh did I insult your God? Oh sorry and your so superior, intelligent, using big words and scientific logic like retarded verbal flatulence, and shut up you silly moron. You are a shining example of your Godly reverence and love for logic truth and science. Please go to the nearest dispensary and get some anti psychotics, or tranquilizers, your religious fanaticism is showing.Science is a religion and your the poster boy for it!

  • @RegioLunar Just wanted to add specifically without AT&T I wouldn't be able to post on line. Without the written word, the code of communications, called literature, science wouldn't exist. Without science we wouldn't have the ability of total destruction of all life on earth via poisons nuclear fallout waste bombs etc... Some scientists have ego identification/attachment to their theories to a point of stagnation/destruction of human kind..Truth doesn't need science or religion to exist!

  • don't hold your breath, these results contradict all cosmic observations of neutrino speed

  • I'm pretty sure that as we evolve all books will need to be rewritten. Besides that there always is another side to the story.

  • No doubt they will use the new finds to create deadlier weapons. Typical of mankind.

  • God did it. Typical creationist answer. FAIL!!!

  • If it is true, maybe we can use neutrinos to communicate with far off star systems with faster that light neutrino detectors .

  • So what kinda stuff will be able to do with this? The only 2 things left to do are teleporting , terraforming.

  • @BusinessEdgeRadio do not forget time travel

  • @TheArcaneSanctum We will be able to go forward in time but not backwards because backwards time doesn't exist.

  • @Stevie68000 How is this relevant?

  • warp 9...engage.

  • @stama9 And a "Beam Me Up Scotty" on the side! ;D

  • This is A mind blower. I'll be watching this closely.

  • If this is true, then they could send information back in time.....

Now where did I put that lottery ticket?

  • warpspeed mr worf

  • I better sell all my used physics text books before this information spreads in my country :)

  • Ro ro?

  • what if... what if.. Einstein meant neutrinos instead of light.

  • @SocialistMovement You make socialist look rude ... hmmm therefore you sir are the Capitalist!!

  • Comment removed

  • @SocialistMovement What I said was a joke as well lol Didnt you stop to think hmmm wait a minute people dont really talk like that in real life?

  • @SocialistMovement Go fuck yourself stupid retarded libtard! Fuck off and go masturbate to Stalin and Mao you fucking faggot ass little boy!

  • cue the religious interpretations... yawn

  • @waldentree

could they elaborate on how this will "reveal vital data into the very origin of the species" ?

  • @10sodot Fundamental physics affects everything, including the evolution of life. I think this is the point they were making. A bit too complicated to explain in a short news story.

  • @waldentree er...what religious interpretations?

  • Ñapar ñapar Einstein toder tpkler doctsahtî cuchkęer speed of light moco peo caca nhœ.

  • Bull shit

  • @povertyincanada Bull shit is much slower than that.

  • @povertyincanada cow shit, human shit, how many neutrinos are there in it? Can shit neutrino's travel back and forth in time? Hmmmmmm.....

  • "There's always a bigger fish"

  • *Multiple nerdgasms*

  • if the light speed can be beaten i'm guessing that breaks a lot of laws we had in our physics books. ... but is not a big surprise since i don't think we are even near to fully understand anything on the universe.

  • @Frost87112 no laws would be broken actually these are subatomic particles.

  • @restlesspride666 Ya because we all know sub atomic particles don't count! LOL!Only atomic bigger better particle count when it comes to time space and relativity...That's the ticket....Is science really a religion it appears to be that with a large dash of politics and money. But politics and money are two(out of the thousands million plus) of the biggest Gods going on planet earth! Oh well...

  • @grangersmith Yeah whatever. Go prayin´ loonie.

"Is science really a religion it appears to be that.. "

Don´t try this laughable display of ignorance again.

  • @RegioLunar "Don't try this laughable display of ignorance again?" Again get on some freaking medication, your mirroring your twisted stuffed up psychopathy on the wrong person..What's ya going to do if I don't do as you say? Sorry you are so screwed up, angry and basically a dangerous ready to explode your anger on anything anyone, who triggers you, get some help, please you need to, it's just sad..Seriously..You don't have a clue do you? Not talking about science or religion here..

  • @grangersmith "So logically when she weights the same as a duck..."

  • yay
