I sell my canola, my peas, my feed barley, my beef and pork, my potatoes, my corn...all world commodities, on my own, and make money. I HAVE to sell my wheat through the CWB (Communist WE Board), and break even. If I didn't have to grow wheat, I wouldn't, but it is necessary for crop rotation. I make more money on 10 acres of carrots contracted by me than I do on 300 acres of any wheat marketed thru the CWB. I cannot legally grind my own wheat, make bread from it and sell it out of my own house
I would rather eat foods that are grown by farmers, not corporations. Harper doesn't represent the farmers - he represents the corporations. What a shock!!
@peterpotpie Are you so naive to think that the CWB's grain is handled any differently than any other commodity? The EVIL corporations handle the CWB's wheat for a fee. They make better margin on handling CWB wheat than other crops because they don't have to compete!! Are you are farmer?? I am , and I am getting alot more support from Harper and his "cronies" than from the useless NDP urban ministers making a scene in parliment.
It's free market now you lazy bitches do the paperwork, to lose the board for an illiterates convenience is ridiculous, this guy is so right, I'd never even thought about what losing the board would do to the non board grains, I'm a pro harper conservative and THIS IS A GOOD THING FOR WORLD TRADE BUT NOT FOR FARMERS!!!!! Ritz and all those that support losing the CWB, FALL ON YOUR SWORDS NOW PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my god, it's called a FREE MARKET folks, the Wheat Board is the real "Stalin" in this whole thing. The only reason some people support the CWB is because they are too stupid or lazy to sell their own wheat or export it, but why their inabilities hold back other farmers who know how to Sell their wheat. Bottom line is the CWB = Communism.
Since when does democracy mean we have more choices? Democracy means the people vote and majority rules. The farmers should have a vote on the cwb and live with the decision. Conservatives have a majority by our democratic process....so where is my choice against conservative stupidity?? I have no choice, they have a majority, and I have to live with it...that's democracy.
@SkinnyWmn69 you don't have to take any other choice! You can still use the board as before so relax! Not that you will sell to the board when given the option of taking an estimated amount a year down teh road or a higher price to be paid same day!
@SkinnyWmn69 how would you recommend we take a vote? It is logistically impossible. Would you give only permit book holders a vote? Or anyone that owns land? Word the questions to push your own agenda as the board did with their so called "plebisite"? More votes to a ambitiuos farmer with more acres or would you give a retired hobby farmer with 40 acres the same say?
I sure as hell knew when I voted for the conservatives what their stance on the board was!
@georgiewilliam how exactly does it protect small farmers? ( I know that is the line they use but I'm curious ) Wouldn't giving small farmers better paying options be beneficial? And how exactly do so many small farmers manage other crops ( canola, oats, etc ) so profitably without the board to save them? Please explain.
shut up you socialist loser NDP=Canadian Communist Party
