To me, there are two groups in Iraq-insurgents, who target military personnel in hit and run tactics (like the Mahdi Militia), and then terrorists, who deliberately target civilians to make a point (al-Qaeda in Iraq). If the roles were reversed, the insurgents would be freedom fighters. I agree. The ones that target civilians, however, would still be terrorists in my book.

I think we are the good guys, but the situation is more shades of gray than black or white. During my tour there, I came to the conclusion that we were the well-intentioned but clumsy good guys, the Mahdi Militia were people that just wanted to be left the fuck alone to do their thing which was in direct conflict to our mission, and then there was AQI, who were the real bad guys.
