  • LMBO i loved this movie as a kid and yes the cops were hillarious :)

need more of the cops posted lol.

  • It's actually called Pirates of Penzance, not Tarantara.

  • D: I want these guys in my city!

  • @aogp5ycho We strongly agree. Kristy Mcnichol es sooooooooooooo beautiful. We admire here beauty here in our country. And yes, she was the crush of many young boys and she was a big star or mega star in the 70's and 80's. Even her partner here in pirate movie christopher atkins fell in love with her in real life during the time they are shooting this movie. We love kristy mcnichol very much and we are very proud of her bcoz' she is a great great actress. Type LITTLE DARLING also here on utube.

  • This was definately influenced my monty python.

    love it.

  • girl at 0:21 is realy pretty.

she actual has bipolar disorder :(

    poor lass.

  • Good part. But you guys seriously need to watch the Pirates of Penzance. It's pretty much this scene the whole way through, with a great cast. This is more or less a cheap rip-off methinks. And about the age debate, look at the film quality and you'll see that this movie has a more modern film style. But Pirate's of Penzance, ftw.

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in The Pirate Movie. I love the movie and after seeing it again after many, many years, I still love it!

  • This is the funniest movie ever filmed

  • Not the best song, but very funny.

  • I have heard the comment that this is the best song from the Pirate Movie. WRONG ! ! ! Check out the video response! Victory! We Fight To Win!

  • This is in the gardens of Melbourne, in Victoria , australia

  • The policemen were clearly enjoying making this. Perhaps not all of it was acting!

  • Has anyone noticed that this is probably the most overlooked and underrated movie from the early 80s? I much preferred this movie over the Pirates of Penzance whether it was the movie with Angela Landsbury or stage productions. What I mean by my first comment is it is hard to find any used version of this for less than $20 and places tell me they sell them as quick as they get them. Is anyone finding the same sort of thing on their end? I would love to see it again.

  • Download it.

  • when i was little, I hated pirates of penzance because i saw this first and loved it so much. i showed this dvd to my twenty something stepdaughters and they both loved it. It still stands up today!

  • I couldn't find it for the longest time either, I actually got to see it again thanks to Netflix. You are right though, it is a great movie. I think I first saw it around the end of the 80s-early 90s on video and even years later I still remember much of it, I just enjoyed it that much. I don't know how often you watch DVDs, but seeing it again made it worth the monthly fee. Let alone the fact I got so many more jokes than the first time I saw it. lol

  • Oh, I actually found it on Amazon for around $10 or so and snatched it up in a hurry. So now I can see it anytime. It's funny how many things I didn't catch as a kid but seeing it now it's kinda naughty lol!

  • you have to watch the movie

  • WTF??

  • Why do they say "te ren te ra" instead of ta ran tara?!! Funniest song EVER!!

  • This is actually Pirates of Penzance, not the Pirate Movie. And it's a musical done by Gillbert and Sullivan. Our high school is doing it for our Spring Musical.

  • You're both right and wrong. It's both. The Pirate Movie came out in the early 1980s as an adaptation of The Pirates of Penzance (they're even mentioned by name earlier in the film). It includes some of the songs from the stage musical (obviously, right?), plus some newer songs written just for the film (I don't think G+S wrote Pumpin' and Blowin' or Happy Ending, though I could be wrong on the second song I mentioned)

  • just for clarification the original is a Gillbert and Sullivan play which has had 2 movie adaptations the first being the plays namesake "The Pirates of Penzance" and the second being "The Pirate Movie" this footage is from "The Pirate Movie"

  • i think this one was released a very short time before the one based on the broadway prod.

i liked them both, but this was so campy, it was cool.

check out the pirate movie version of the major general's song.

  • Hmmm i am getting conflicting data on this I have reference saying The pirate movie is 1982 and the pirates of penzance is '83 but i also have reference saying the pirates of penzance is 1980... I distinctly recall the pirates of penzance being before the pirate movie... Yes unfortunately I am old enough to remember that far back... not sure what to call this one... myth plausible for the moment

  • The internet broadway data base say this about pirates of Penzance:

    Preview:Dec 22, 1980 Total Previews:29

    Opening:Jan 8, 1981

    Closing:Nov 28, 1982 Total Performances:787

this was the Joseph Papp production on which the film was based.

and (lol) i saw this broadway version, with rondstadt , smith, and Rose (we saw Kline's understudy, it was a matinee).

  • @sideswipe147 Actually this movie was made before the one produced by Joseph Papp. The Papp one is much better as, unlike this movie, it does Gilbert and Sullivan justice.

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! I was laughing sooo hard with this song lol!!!!!

    oh gosh!!!

    tarantula!!

  • Not tarantula, tarantara.

  • haha wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • My new favourite song! ROFL!

  • Haha i was a police in a production of this.. we kicked ass!

  • if you think this part is good, just watch the ending, hahah

  • I saw the entire movie on a Sunday night when there was nothing on!! Gotta love On Demand!! Yes, VERY FUNNY!!

  • gotta love flamboyant coppers
