man tiger you and your furious swipes at the ball. you're not getting any younger and your swing is looking more mechanical every day. at least you still remember to keep your shoulders back so they aren't dragging everything through. that's why you and freddie still obliterate the ball without being built like tight ends...well you 15 years ago anyway.
@bccrownover no such thing as the perfect cure because everyone is different. What plagues one golfers swing is anothers advantage. Even people who cant play well can spot problems in the golf swing and suggest tips. That's the best thing about golf; so many different ways to play it.
idk if anyone has posted yet but his feet shift backwards like crazy at impact. that's why it went right. If his knees would stay behind the feet line and his feet not slip like that, he would be back
That's the problem having a more neutral grip than neutral......... nomatter how much he bows his wrist there's still aprx 40 degrees to close on the way down......this is what happens on failure haha
@earthshine2k , first time i actually heard someone who knows what the fuck there talking about, and its true i was never a believer of squaring up the club face on your own, i think your grip at the start should take care of that, and ive tried this swing, the weakining of the grip and that produces the flat wrist at the top, and keeping that flat wrist through out the swing is hard, idk how he does it, but yet it did take him a year to get the feel right
@theRAMowns LOL its pretty funny because woods doesn't even get stuck here.. he changed his spikes that year to soft.. in slow mo you see his entire footing move back like an inch.. thats not being stuck, thats just spikes not doing their job and he cuts across it like a beast
@Thealbatrossking for tiger, they have always said he gets "stuck" when he makes that block fade. when the rest of the world hits it, it's called a shitty swing. you aren't getting stuck, you are making a shitty swing, tiger is making a shitty swing. why are we not seeing anybody else getting "stuck" and blocking the ball 40 yards right of the fairway?
@hoobie06 i do it all the time. happens when i get too far inside on my takeaway and have to come very inside out to the ball. good for a big block or a flip wrist slinger hook. good drill to help alleviate it is to stick a ball right behind the clubhead at address and roll it straight back with the clubhead. that helps you not rake it in if you have a tendency to get too far inside.
@hoobie06 Haha, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Tiger did get stuck here the club was way behind him and it was a poor swing other tour pros get stuck too. Stuck is when the shaft is approaching underneath the right arm the your are rotating your hips to fast or to much lateral hipmovement which means your arms will come behind you and your get a fairly low approach to the ball either he tries to save the shot with his hands which is really hard.
@f0cusen haha. yeah i know what getting stuck is. i was being more sarcastic than anything. my point was that tiger seems to get stuck on every other swing with his driver and his blocks and swing when he gets stuck are so much uglier than the typical tour pro. i'm not a great golfer but i'm a 2 handicap and i understand what causes the block for him. i'm just saying if any other tour pro had a swing that got stuck so often, it would just be that he has a bad swing in general.. still dig TW!
@underchuck21 that's precisely why his grip is so important. the weaker grip promotes a left arm disconnection and a fanning open of the clubface on the takeaway which necessitates a 'squaring' of the clubface via left forearm rotation through impact. you're right, in tiger's case, he goes at it hard, so he can't be worried with actively squaring the club face. a stronger grip (like he advocates in his book 'How I Play Golf' ) is more suited to the aggressive body rotation that Tiger uses
he should copy the 1996 swing version , across the line at the top , strong left hand and super fast hips , in 1996 he driver avg was 305 yards , with new drivers he could hit about 325
tiger is simply too flat on his backswing and thus us he swings too much from the inside on his downswing (being stuck). You combine coming too much from the inside with a square or slightly open clubface and bingo you go a push or push slice. I really think his grip is too weak, i think he should strengthen his left hand grip a touch and start drawing the ball or go back to a version of his 2000 swing; a more upright swing where he was not so stuck at impact..
@brh5934 thank you, brh5934 Grip, grip and grip. Haney convinced him to slide the handle up into the palm of his left hand. His left hand grip is weaker than Hogan's now. Ridiculous. He should be playing shut to square or square to slightly open. He can't keep fanning the club open and expecting to 'square the back of the left hand' like Haney was telling Ray Romano to do. At the speed Tiger swings, there just can't be any reliance on using the hands. Grip it strong and rip it Tiger!
@golfmaniac007 that would help. or, at least get back to that swing philosophy. I mean, Tiger Woods can beat me if he played left handed, but it's very puzzling to me how he let Hank Haney (and, Mark O'Meara) convince him that he needed to flatten his swing plane and play a 'slinging' draw. It was ok in '05 and '06, because he still had his usual swing dynamics, but he overdid the 'lay it off then square it up' bs that Haney taught him. He'll be alright, though. I think he likes Foley.
he slipped

HIs stance is nearer to the ball than usual. So he pulled his legs at the impact.
It lookslike he slipped, but it isn't true in this case.

Im not comparing myself to tiger
but our lower body and core movement in our downswings are very similar
and when we go after it that hard
we get "stuck" and the clubface comes in waaay open
i dont want to know many tournaments ive lost because of one of those

You tend to make those kind of mistakes,
Dang man, me and tiger are the same,
I'm a tournament player
