Man, these were so unique. One of the last of these 71/72 cars I coulda/shoulda bought way back when, was a 72 RR/GTX, real original still running it's original 440, and auto as I recall. Darn thing was only 1500 bucks, original to here in AZ too. Just a few years later, and they were already up to 15k plus in nice restored condition. I'm about to have a 71 RR EV2 N96 car in the driveway, after all these years here pretty soon.
Great car by the way, these are very rare. RR with the GTX combo.
I own a '72 road runner gtx and found it to be only 1 of 453 that year. It has a 440/727 and is a factory u code as well. Where did you find your info at on this one? Mine may be rarer than I thought. Thanks
Nice to see an un-butchered '72 R.R. ! Is it originally an FY1 Lemon Twist ?
Yes , there were , indeed , 1972 GTX models ! By '72 , the GTX was relegated to option status ( like it was in '67 ) ; it was simply a 440-powered R.R. by '72 ; they were made in and for U.S. consumption as well .
The rarest '72 ? 440 Six Barrel ! ( same with the 440 Six Pack Charger Rallye of '72 ) . Still had 10.25:1 comp ratio ; 330 net h.p. ; were built in late '71 calendar year ... SUPER RARE !
@supamatt3333 I know, my father has one. Lots of people are ignorant to the fact that they do exist. Some people need to learn that they should not speak unless they know the facts.
@krasus32605 The GTX continued a couple more years. However it was an option package on the Road Runner. Since they dropped the 440-6 bbl the car came with a 440-4 bbl. It was available until 1974. No idea as to how many were produced, one article I found mentions that there were 5 440-6 bbl 72 GTX's built right before the end of 71 but no more because they couldn't make them meet emissions.
did you record with a calculator?

I think that body style was the nicest out of all the Roadrunner GTX years. 71 & 72.
Question!
The air grabber...Does it work on vacum or cable?
