@flameboy44 The genetic code proves it actually, the haplogroups are different from the races and shows the existence of more races than that, a celt is different genetically than a roman. Much of northern africa was under Roman influence during ancient times and could have very easily gotten the gene from there.

The northern coast also saw viking raids. There is more than enough oppurtunity for the genes to mix.

@loofens No I don't think they lived on natural rules other than maybe "might makes right" they invented soap, the were the first to use iron, their roads may predate roman ones, they restructured land to crate elaborate hill forts. Also their laws weren't that different from Roman ones. The Romans didn't view them that way because they missed all that they did it because they were afraid and if you can think you are better than them you will be less afraid.

The Romans saw the Gauls as barbarians because they worshipped different gods, didn't live in gigantic cities, and spoke a different language.
