It's just not impressing seeing a 11-12 second camaro because they break into the 11/12's with bolt ons. I'd rather see a civic that runs 17's stock break into 10's or 11's that's more impressive. And I doubt any american muscle head could build a 10 second civic, Anyone can slap on exhaust on a big V8 and make it run straight lines.

v6/v8 6spd vs 4cyl 4spd=odds are USA would smash the import. (knowing the cars are not too out of porportion with blowers or 300+hp differences

He ran a 13.8 So I'd have to guess. A good exhaust. and a good 60, with a good driver. Those maximas hit 13's pretty easy stock with some spray. He obviously has aftermarket mufflers so you figure he's probably got a full exhaust. That's just my guess. He could have many things that could push him into 13's.

Uhm not really. I'm going to guess that's an LS1 with a bad driver. so an LS1 with a good driver 'suppose' to run 13.8 (stock) the maxima stock with a good driver runs a 14.0 - 14.1. Full exhaust on the maxima would easily keep it in check with the ls1 GT0 now if its an LS2 gt0 then that maxima is turbo and its not unless its cherns max but it doesn't look like cherns max so I'm doubting it. so its an ls1 gt0 with a bad driver probably stock and the maxima probaby has exhaust intake

Actually, that's with an average to bad driver. I've seen stock 04 GTO's run mid to low 13's. Stock LS2 GTO's have gotten into the high 12's with a perfect hook. It's rare, I grant you, but the power is all there just waiting for a good driver. In any case, the GTO is not a grat track car. If you want the real story of the GTO, it's what happens after the 1/4 mile. Very strong up top.

The ls1 gto runs high 13's end of story. nobody has ran a 12 with a ls1 gto they are boats, ls1 isn't even a "big" engnie these days. I mean it is, but not in that car, good thing they put the ls2 in that. For instance a ls1 2002 camaro ran a 12.8 according to a mustang magazine, But it's lighter and had a bigger cam than the 2002 corvette.

Lets stop talking about this. It's obvious the gto isn't as fast as its' ls2 counterpart, and the maxima is obviously modded, somewhat.

Read what I actually wrote. I never claimed 12's for the LS1 GTO, but low 13's are absolutely achievable. Think what you want, but I've actually seen it done. They USUALLY run high 13's or even slower cause most folks can't drive. GTO is a tricky car to launch. I managed 13.2 with my stock LS2 GTO on stock tires. Headers and a tune got me into the 12's. DR's would put me mid 12's. Check your specs - no way is the 02 Camaro lighter than the vette, and LS1 had same cam for both cars in 2002.

Trouble with the GTO V8 is that its heavier than the Maxima V6, and the Nissan would have more traction due to less torque.

Fatter tire fixes that. Doesn't matter how much torque you produce. Power to weight ratio comes into effect as well on the track. Doesn't matter what you weigh depending on how much power you're putting out. Ever been to a NHRA race? Those guys put out thousands of horse and they hook up just fine. There's a reason professional drag racers use V8's. You can only push 4 cyl. so far before there's no more you can do. V8's are bigger, more displacement and you'll hit their limit long after a 4cyl.
