If we have a dog, many of us are aware some breeds can be really different from another and require specific care. Careful, rabbits can die of shock and just as easily inhale water and suffocate. Yes they 'can' swim, but they were not designed to swim and domestic rabbits cannot handle temperature changes as well as wild ones.
Hi there, I am not leaving a nasty comment but just a couple of facts. I own several (13) all indoor rabbits and all liter trained. My roommate from college is a vet but for dogs and cats not avian. It is safer according to her and other vets to not but the rabbit in water because they can "easily" aspirate the water and it will go into there lungs. It may never happen with you but why take a chance. Most rabbits do not enjoy being put in water. Butt baths are needed if elderly or paralyzed;)
A rabbit, like any other rodent doesn´t belong in the water at all, it can end deadly, no matter how deep the water is. Their ears and nasal track are NOT MADE for this and water easily causes life-threating infections. Even if they enter water from alone, as an owner YOU are in the duty to prevent this. All those videos on youtube are a such a mess, really.

Careful, rabbits can die of shock and just as easily inhale water and suffocate. Yes they 'can' swim, but they were not designed to swim and domestic rabbits cannot handle temperature changes as well as wild ones.

Hi there, I am not leaving a nasty comment but just a couple of facts. I own several (13) all indoor rabbits and all liter trained. My roommate from college is a vet but for dogs and cats not avian. It is safer according to her and other vets to not but the rabbit in water because they can "easily" aspirate the water and it will go into there lungs. It may never happen with you but why take a chance. Most rabbits do not enjoy being put in water. Butt baths are needed if elderly or paralyzed;)

A rabbit, like any other rodent doesn´t belong in the water at all, it can end deadly, no matter how deep the water is. Their ears and nasal track are NOT MADE for this and water easily causes life-threating infections. Even if they enter water from alone, as an owner YOU are in the duty to prevent this. All those videos on youtube are a such a mess, really.

Many rabbits have LARGE chances of dying when they are this wet. If you want to bath your rabbit, dont use 6 gallons on water! Put her n the shower and only fill the bath to about 1 inch or less. Rabbits dont live in water, now do they?

If your bunny likes to swim, let him do that freely, do not put your bunny into water with no way to get out so that he has to swim or float. I've had bunnies for 15 years, I've done my research.

Stop being so rude guys!!!! Her bunny might like to relax in water and hope they dry her after. People must clean there bunnies at some point. i clean my bunny with rodent shampoo and warm water then i dry him with a towel. @BreezeOfTehBread It doesn't look scared to me it seems relaxed, You are telling me its floating on purpose and not just because it naturally floats?
I read somewhere that if a rabbit gets wet through its coat and to the skin it can get a nasty fungus and if so this is a very bad idea.
I am no expert but it probably floats because it has hollow hairs and a thick coat..
