  • I love how he decided to do a video for a new setup he admits he's never used before. Test it first!

  • unfortunately you uploaded in 360p only....

  • i like your comparisons! I think thats the best way people to learn about the details of what the lenses do. :) great job!!!

  • those lens had to have cost alot

  • oh shit thats huge.

  • the 5d footage looks better

  • Wow... that is one SUPER HOT GIANT LENS!!!

  • During the first 35 seconds, some type of crazy hillbilly-porno music was playing in the background; then, inexplicably after a few more seconds, space-alien disco themed music played in the background until 3:19. Without warning @ 3:34, "if zombies had an orgy" music began playing. @ 5:38, sounds seemingly emitting from my gassy grandfather's bowels played, while the cameraman changed lenses, transitioning into MacGuyver's trapped, but only temporarily, feel. 7:01, John Denver's ghost plays.

  • I notice all people do is hate on peoples youtubes videos because I guess they cant afford the equipment! WOW, NICE VID THOUGH, HOW MUCH DO YOU GUYS CHARGE FOR A VIDEO

  • Spell 'photographer' at :04

    Follow the subject at 1:08

Cover your talent's flubs with a cutaway? 1:11

"I never let go of the camera until I'm very sure that it's all hooked in." except at 3:34 when you let go of the camera while you're hooking it in.

Shouldn't the title be: How to use a tripod?

  • The problem with the 5D's are they OVERHEAT. Who would spend $3,500 + on a camera that regularly overheats in all condition.

It doesn't look so professional to be taking breaks every 30 minutes or packing your camera in ICE PACKS because it's overheating.

Until DSLR makers can figure out how to keep them from overheating they are just consumer toys that cost a lot of money.

  • @4Firearms

Why do the 5D's overheat? This is the first time I have heard about that?

Is it the video components that do that? That would be a lame downside especial as expensive that camera is.

I just bought a used 5D Mk I ( the original) And I wanted it for the full frame. I'm not dying to do the video DSLR's now. So in any case...a MK II is not in my immediate future.

  • @4Firearms You are confusing 5D with 7D. The 5D mark ii does not overheat.

  • canons lenses ook like spaceships O_O

  • Should have chosen the 7D, that would have given you an extra 1.6X magnification.

  • a 1080p upload would be good

  • you can modify a twin flash bracket to be a $400 camera handle... just saying

  • Teleconverters work really well for extending the reach of Canon's big lenses. I use a 2X and 1.4X with my 400 f2.8 and get great results with video. Still photos as well, but more so with video which is not so demanding of sharpness.

And of course the best teleconverter you can buy for your 5DII is a 7D. Seriously, the 1.6X magnification gets you a whole lot closer, and the lens is still a 2.8 or whatever it was to start. If you have $5-10K in lenses, the 7D is a cheap purchase.

  • ok well im only 19 and had to buy my own car and now its worth less then 7grand so yes its worth more then my car

  • 0:05 you can't spell.

  • that 500mm cost more then my car,,,

  • @SRAphotog The 500mm F4 only costs $7,000 dollars

  • video from a still camera is gay

  • @nofatchicks30 dude this camera's like shooting with film

  • @nofatchicks30 says gay who is gay...

  • @nofatchicks30 Says guy who is gay...

  • @nofatchicks30 moron

  • but what about the overheating problem on th canon 5d mark2 how long does the video last until over heat,do you use 2 canon 5d mark2.

  • but what about the overheating problem

  • Nice, thanks.

  • you should do a tour of your studio

  • the color on the 5d is just so much nicer. Much better contrast with that 500

  • Hey! Awesome video! Look, i'm nowhere near a pro with cameras, currently, i'm using a Samsung r10 hd camcorder to do my films and my youtube videos. But the Canon 5d mk ii has really caught my eye recently. So, how much money are you talking for the 5d mkii PLUS your film camera rig system AND a tripod?

  • Great review, cool guy.

Since then a new Firmaware allows to set Aperture, Speed and ISO manually.

  • I bought the 5d2 and Im disappointed. Bad image, bad color, poor automatic white balance, poor definition, poor focus, very bad JPG files, bad raw files. Maybe good for video but not good for shooting.

My lumix g1, my nikon d70 and my pentax k20d have more dynamic color... I have never seen a good picture taken with canon 5d2.

  • Congratulations, you must be the only person in the world who dislikes the 5D mk II. :-)

  • @groovindj he was allitle ass to the guy with the xha1

  • @deaikai WOW! I will wait for the next model or check out the 7D and T2i.

This isn't the first time I heard a review like this... Well, not exactly like this...

I heard many people were a little disappointed. They were not totally excited about it as they were or how others were on the Nikon D300 or the Canon 7D.

I guess I will wait until the 7D Full Frame. My goals are photography not so much into movies...

  • Did anybody ever told you that you look like Eric Cantona the famed soccer player?

  • How long does it last for recording movies till it over heating? thx

  • The colors of the 5D Mark II looks alot better than the Canon XHA1. Can you give us the pros and cons between the two cameras? Thanks.

  • for the video shooting, what tripod head & legs are you using?

  • Nice.... We shot or Wed Series with the Canon 7d which is just as good and cheaper..

  • @BloodBr0thers Wow the 7D be good enough for high professional portraits?

I love taking headshots, portraits for magazine, and for the entertaining industry.

I need great detail and sharpness straight through. Do you think I just need a L series (prime) lens?

I have the Rebel XT and the 50 mm f/1.4 lens.

  • Doesn't the 5d have a full frame censor? Do you think that's why you don't get as much zoom on your 300mm?

  • Yes the 5D is Full frame , so a 300mm stays 300mm, but on a APS-C body a 300mm would become a 480mm because of the 1.6 magnification factor .

  • Great work and presentation! Keep it up.

  • What bag are u using to carry your gear and do yo u like it or is there a another brand you like for traveling thru airports? I've looked at the lowepro line and like them but your bag looks very nice.

    Thanks,

    The Meltdownman

  • AND NOW..... learn how to edit dude!

  • How do you focus the lens to the different geese or the geese flying away? I'm having trouble focusing on objects, I can do it, but it doesn't look as smooth as your videos. Thanks, and nice video. John

  • thnx, man!!! cheers!

  • Dude,

Like a lot of still shooters transitioning to video, you're missing the greatest strength of edited live video. When you show something small - USE A CUTAWAY to show the detail.

You kept talking about the plates and screws and NEVER showed the audience any detail of what you're talking about.

Just a word about reorienting thinking to always consider not what the shooter needs - but what the audience NEEDS to best understand the communications flow.

    Nice job. Tho.

  • great feedback

  • Hi Mike great video that sachtler tripod you putting your new 5D on I can't seem to find do you mind telling me what model it is thanks

  • very good

  • You've got some awesome gear Michael. Been into photography for about a year now and would give anything to be able to have some of that equipment and be able to shoot the things you see on location
