Hamas declared themselves in "effective control" of Gaza in 2006/2007 after violently defeating PA. That eliminated any obligation for Israel as an occupier under the disengagement agreement with the PA.
That put Israel in a legal position to blockade Gaza !
Under sec 67 IDF can attack a neutral vessel that resist search and refuses to stop can be attacked in Int waters after being warned ! They only need to be suspected of breaching the blockade. Clearly the stop was legal and so was the force used when attacked by IHH militants. It was later shown that 4 dead were militants !

@durhamdf Like I said, the reason for the turks defending themselves is because the Israel were attacking. The Commandos shudnt be there in the first place. If a protestor is using deadly force you should stop him, true but in this case the Commandos stormed in despite orders not to.

But these "peacefel protesters" on this particular ship out of the 6 in the fleet didn't let that happen, they immediately became violent

@LTGhostRiley Israel had a right under international maritime law to board those ships peacefully to enforce a blockade. 5 others vessels were boarded peacefully without incident but this one ship was fully of violent thugs who thought they could beat, stab, and try to shoot Israeli Troops that were just doing there job. You can clearly see the the video that the first commando drops to the deck and is immediately swarmed by man swinging metal poles. These were not "peaceful protestors"

They came on this ship peacefully initially with no weapons out at all just like on the other 5 ships that were boarded without incident. They didn't have time to see if rubber bullets might help stop these out of control rioters (let's call them what they are) when their collegues were currently being stabbed and beaten with metal poles and heavy objects. Like I said before, in any country if you decide to start stabbing a cop expect to get shot. Period

Therefore it doesn't matter if that ship had weapons on it or not, Israel is allowed to anforce its blockade and search any shipment entering Gaza. THose commandos dropped down the exact same way on 5 other ships and peacefully took control of the ship. @durhamdf Yes under San Remo Manual 1994, the law of blockades and naval conflict at sea , Israel can blockade Gaza.
Hamas declared themselves in "effective control" of Gaza in 2006/2007 after violently defeating PA. Subsequently Israel declared Gaza a hostile territory under the Hamas who vowed to destroy Israel and all Jews ! That eliminated any obligation for Israel as an occupier under the disengagement agreement with the PA.
That put Israel in a legal position to blockade Gaza !

Clearly the stop was legal and so was the force used when attacked by IHH militants. It was later shown that 4 dead were militants !
It is also self evident that no legal action has been launched or that they would have any grounds for such an action !

Does the San Remo Manual justify it? The Manual is not law, international or otherwise - read it before you attempt to cite it Article 1 speaks of “the parties to an armed conflict at sea,” which does not include NIAC, unless perhaps a rebel group has a navy.

But Israel does not want to do that, because it would then be bound by the very restrictive rules of belligerent occupation in the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Insofar as Israel insists that it is not currently occupying Gaza, it cannot plausibly claim that it is involved in an IAC with Hamas. And if it is not currently involved in an IAC with Hamas, it is difficult to see how it can legally justify the blockade of Gaza.

B. there are only two videos of the actual maylay: 1. taken by the IDF which shows the initial boarding clearly and unedited. The editing is just that the video ends when conflict gets more heated which isn't that uncommon. The 2nd video is from on the ship and it begins with protestors lining up with chairs and poles walking towards the deck before any commandos have gotten onboard so again it supports my argument
