yes they should be alright but you gotta remember that they are noctural fish and they need dark spot.. get 2 big ornaments and drop one ghost at a time let him find and select his favorite location then drop the secongd one.. when both are settled and hidden put the other fishes in the water.. also remember to feed him when your turn the aquarium light off.. because if you don't some of your fishes will loose their tails ..they are very hungry
once when my black ghost knife came out to feed, i dropped a rock on its body and it died. lol it was only a baby and it only cost about 10 dollars so i dun care just another stupid animals life lost thanks to me (~_^)
dude...u know how much of a dick u sounded right there? u dont care that u killed it? imagine it through another persons point of view, maybe a 4 year old went to the shop and then sees it was missin, then reads ur comment, kid proceeds to cry self to sleep, i cry "rorsachs journal"
XD idk why i even replied to ur comment, i was bored...idk why u wouldnt need to calm down though, i mean its obvious i was joking when i ended my journal entry...soo yea calm down and idk how i defy bad
Yh 72 gallon is a really good size. If you buy a small BGK make sure it gets plenty of meaty food such as bloodworm to bulk it up otherwise it will die. If i was you i would buy it about 5 - 7 inchs for safety thats what i did and mine is about 1 year old and no problem, look at my videos if you want
you should be careful though. I have a Black Ghost and love him to death. Coolest fish in the world. You can't(CAN'T) no matter what have any smaller fish than it. Maybe a tiny bit smaller but they are very territorial and will prey on smaller fish. Literally if it can fit in its mouth it is most likely food. Black Ghosts grow up to 14 inches in the wild(they are from the Amazon) and 10-12 in a aquarium. But a 30gallon would be fine and a 72 is excellent. They are also night nocturnal.
i hav had my ghostie for about 4 years and i couldnt wait for him to get bigger... i found sinking carnivore pellets by hikari tropical and he grew about 4 inches at least...you can also use frozen beef heart ... thats what worked for me
Do they eat baby guppies aged 1 month old?? coz I bought 2 blackGhosts and it seems all the small guppies that I had since babies were born in my 54 liter tank were eaten by two ten centimeters baby black ghosts..I was horrified when they young were all gone...
Yeah i see that, but thanks God they leave me with one baby guppy that actually grow rather faster than the others that were missing. This one is a blessing that I have no regret of buying the mothers who died while giving birth...
i got one of these fish very cool the way it ripples its fins. A good centerpiece in the home aquarium i have got one mine is friendly and active i hate the way info on these fish vary between websites.
I've got 3 of these in my wall tank, and there amazing.. 1 which is 34cm, 2nd is 49cm and the 3rd is 26cm. I've made my tank look awesome with blue neon lights with white gravel and tropical plants. Also in the tank is a few shark, sting ray, fighter fish, crab etc... Anyway nice Video, amazing footage captured!
Bought one of these last week, really lovely fish, ive heard they are pretty shy but mine is out all day and night, just learning to hand feed her,its going really well, keeping her with some tiger barbs, clowns and royal pleco, she seems to get on well with them,so far anyways lol
the tank looks crowded enough to avoid any aggression of the black ghost. This fish has the potential to be aggressive in certain tank conditions, however if properly schooled and the fish isn't stressed.. it is usually placid. They are a great addition to a tank :)
I had eight of them in a 75 gallon tank. The fish store owner said he was pretty sure if I added them all at the same time, they would school. And they did. The last one died just a few weeks ago at age 17. :-/
it's actually not healthy to have more than 2 black ghost knife in a single tank unless u have a very huge tank. they use electric current to navigate their path. so many together would confuse each other. if they lived upto 17 years as u say, they must have been abt 21in? did u still have them in a 75 gallon tank?
Yeah I was skeptical when the aquariologist at the local store suggested I put eight of them in one 75gal tank. But he offered to refund my money if they didn't do well (I think he was curious about this himself), so I did it. They didn't grow beyond 8-10 inches until a few died over the years, but when I was down to three, the biggest grew to 18 inches or so. They always seemed to get together very well, and I was pleased to have them.
I'd dare say so, blue acara and firemouths are not very aggressive Americans, however you should also keep into consideration that a black ghost can grow to 40cm over a few years..
i have a brown knife fish (i rather a black one) and he gets along fine with bala shark, cichlids, and oscars (i have 72g tank) theyre ALL babies ..only the baby acei cichlid nips at him I dont know why but Im am putting that cichlid in his own tank for now
Catfish are quite self sufficient. They will most likely survive two weeks without food. You will end up with having a shiny clean tank when you return.
I guess he would eat small fish if his his mouth is big enough. I recon a big ghost is one of the last fish to die in a tank without food. I`m not sure about mince pork and duck meat.
sqbbe you rock, but i'm over seas these holidays and no one can look after my fish and i don't want my black ghost knife fish to die like my poor glass catfish. have any suggestions
Kool fish i have one but one time i axccedentally when moving my arm i hit my black ghost knife fish and he starting to limb but then he got better and want does a black ghost knife fish like to hide in?
hey i just bought one 2day what do u feed em my one is only 3 inches long so still a baby and the thing is ive got cichlids in my tank like electric yellows and cloan loaches etc hoping that they will get along..
Beautiful fish you've got! Planning on getting one soon and that made me that much more excited. Great job btw with you plants, I'm assuming most/all are live? Great setup, very natural looking and perfect for that fish. Keep up the good work!
