  • USN & USMC The Marines saluted because they are under arms and are therefore covered indoors, the Naval Officer snapped to a position of attention just as she should have because she is not armed.

  • I love them both.

  • i hate fucking ziva love kate

  • One of my favorite if not thee favorite episodes. Ver strong/moving episode gets me choked up no matter how many times I see it.

    Semper Fidelis

  • Such an emotional scene. Ever since I first saw it, (way back when Season 2 first aired) I'm moved by the performances. Every time. Charles Durning especially is fantastic - a well deserved Emmy nomination that year.

  • Awesome show...Durning was so good in this episode.

  • Season: 2

    Episode: 7

    call of silence

  • Which Episode is this? I've seen it a ton and loved watching it, but I never caught the title

  • This was the episode that single-handily got me interested in NCIS. I watch this episode at every opportunity.

  • Have to love the medal and those that wear it. It is a never ending call of "TEN HUT" to all military personnel that see it....God Bless our troops!

  • Thanks everyone for watching this video

  • this is by far, by far, far, far, my most favorite episode, whenever i watch this part i always cry.

  • i cry every single time i see this...charles durning is such a powerful actor...thank you for posting this!

  • This is one of the best episodes of the whole series and that is saying a LOT

  • I like the part where they meet the Japanese soldier though . Wish you didnt take that part out but still good . :) .

  • Charles Durning should have gotten an Emmy for this. Absolute brilliance and total courage.

  • @msymsed He did get an emmy for his role in this episode. He also did serve, in the US Army, WW2, not the Corps however, and was discharged as a private first class

And yes, i know you posted that 8 months ago

  • Nope. Ray Liotta won the 2005 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his guest appearance on ER the same year Durning was nominated for this episode.

Durning has never won a single Emmy award.

  • @triplexxxsatyr he has

  • The official Emmy awards website archives says he hasn't. Durning's a Golden Globe winner and multiple Emmy and Oscar nominee. He's never won an Oscar. He's never won an Emmy. He has received numerous Lifetime Achievement Awards from other accrediting bodies.

    I've stated a fact.

  • This episode always reminds me of my greandfather that fought in WWII. He always had trouble talking about his experiences over there and it was not until the last years of his life he would talk about it. This is my favorite episode of all. Semper fi! and thanks to all veterans on thbis day and every day!

  • thank you guys for all your support i do appreciate it more vids soon

  • Such a brilliant episode - my husband and I were in tears. Absolutely incredible.

  • Watch Charles Durning in the 1980 Kirk Douglas flick "The Final Countdown", and watch him here in this 2004 episode. He has hardly aged in a quarter of a century.

  • Unforgettable and very moving.

  • A great scene

  • A really great episode. I always tear up when I see it. Should have won an award

  • I too can't help but cry. It is so powerful.

  • It is a great episode, sad you didn't include the part when Gibbs is reading what he was given the medal for. Anybody have a clip of it?

  • I"ve always loved Charles Durning's work. I don't care for "NCIS," but my wife is a big fan of the show, and she "snuck this one" in on me one day. I was crying by the end of it. Why Durning didn't win an Emmy for this (he was nominated), I'll never know.

  • @LeaveEmLaughingTent best episode of NCIS that ive seen so far, i gotta agree i was having tears roll down my cheeks by the end of it.

  • This episode is one of my top favorite NCIS episodes. The vid made me cry even more than the actual episode, for some reason..Great vid, well done.

  • A Medal of Honor recipient is saluted by every rank; up to and including the President. Except this President doesn't know the differance between the MoH or the Medal of Freedom.

  • The scene where the young Ernie Yost said "Sorry, Wade", the actor kinda sounded like Charles Durning there

  • I love the way Tony moves the tie...and shows the medal.....good man

  • Yeah, really

I love how those MP's snap to attention so quick too

I never saw a couple of Marine MP;s move so quick in my life

  • Is it just me, or did it look like Commander Coleman was crying too???

  • She was

  • I thought she was

  • Shes 1 hard bitch....good looking...but a lawyer...they dont think of the truth

  • Look up Charles Durning aka Ernie Yost...

'Charles Durning Bio' tells his story including ww2.

Sgt US Army Ranger. Fought D-Day, Omaha Beach..aka...blood beach.

Wounded by German S-mine (the original Bouncing Betty mine). Recovered....returned to combat, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge....wounded 2 more times..

    1 Silver Star

    3 Purple Hearts

Mr Durning is a real life STUD.

  • Word. His presence lent this episode palpable gravitas. Durning himself said that this was the hardest acting part he ever took and he almost never signed up for it because it was just too painful for him on a personal level.

    We're blessed that he did.

  • This episode was so powerful, so intense in all its subtleties...the emotion invoked just seeing a Medal of Honor around a hero's neck is intense...God bless all who serve and have served!

  • Oh god, that's so sad :'( Man this episode made me cry so much :(

  • When you find out how he won the medal of honour in this episode it sends shivers down my back. Powerfl episode.

  • Can't imagine what it was like to be on the set for this episode. There can't have been a dry eye.

Thank you for a terrific tribute and THANKS to our Armed Forces.

  • i love the end! Enemies are born to kill and hate but then a friendship of Peace takes over!

  • this was a very powerful episode

  • yeah you really should respect any marine and specially 1 that has a medal of honor!

i will always place the mission first.

    i will never accept defeat.

    i will never quit.

i will never leave a fallen comrade.

  • Not just Marines, but ANY Service person that was awarded the Medal of Honor

  • always loved this scene.

  • without a doubt my favorite episode 2

  • It's really interesting to see the reaction of the soldiers when saw the medal of honour... Is this only in the film? And what about the exhumation of the body and the ceremony???

  • It's something any soldier will do when they see a Medal of Honor. Technically all civilians should too, but they don't know to... The Medal of Honor is the highest reward our Country offers, you don't think even the lowest of military man will respect what amazing feats were accomplished to earn that?

  • my favorite episode
