ive had this weird theory for a while, after finding out that azazel had something personal against mary and that azazel has killed anyone who knew mary, i think that azazel might be sams dad and that mary somehow got him killed to stop john finding out plus i think the reason that azazel killed all of her friends is so that he can stop sam finding out his secret. remember this iss just a completely random theory and that it is likely not to be true

He does return but he is only in the episodes that take place in the past, so he is actually dead in the present time.
