  • Does one,..in order to appreciate the ballet,..have to simply turn a blind ear to the sounds of the pointe shoes hitting the floor,..much like ignoring the fingering sounds on a great guitar piece.?

  • This is what i'm going to dance at this summer! And i'm really woried about the result!

  • Did anyone else cringe at the fuettes?

  • Performed by Cornwall Duchy Ballet, We do have another show in two Weeks, The Nutcracker, at the Hall For Cornwall Truro.

  • The darker part is awesome! around 1:45

  • u didnt spot

  • i don't know if her fouettes were very good

  • the legs are lazy and the spacing is off they need more training and need to build more muscle

  • i like the one on the far left..i think the problem with them is poor muscles because i can hear the sound of their feet when they take a step and such...you shouldn't be able to hear a sound when they dance when they have good muscles.. i think they should exercise more but they have lots of potential...i like them...actually.

  • is it lefgt to criticize a bunch of high schoolers on their absolute ballet chops? no. haters should be ashamed and realize that at this level, giving it all you've got is commendable. nice work kids; fire your choreographer, hes the one making you work so hard...

  • fast tempo...dont like this version...sounds hurried

  • they are good my school is dancing the nutcracker aslo but its the march

  • Shut up ballerinaatmcb, they all did a fantastic job,

stop being a critic, you tard'~!!!

  • this preformance was excelent the only problem u found was when the girl in the middle was doing the fuettes she kept moving a bit but other than that amazing

  • heh. my brother thought this was the chinese version!:D

  • this is really beautiful and they manage to stay in sync with each other!

  • it seemed that the girl in the middle doing the fouettes was spotting towards the corner rather than the front... she also travelled quite a bit.

  • I have to do at Ballet dance to this soon on the 18 of December 2010

  • lol i heard snoreing after the 1st min. NO JOKE.

  • It looks so easy, doesn't it? I'm getting wistful in my old age.

  • pesima acustica

  • the choreography isnt very agreeable with the type of dance they are doing

  • they dont dance together, there are some imprecision on their steps. and I must say i totally dislike the fouettes...they are not clean at all...

  • These dancers are all fine, what we really have here is terrible choreography. It does nothing to show them off

  • pretty! looks like tough choreography but everyones por de bra (dont know how thats spelled...) is gorgeous! We are working on our version for the Nutcracker Ballet mystudio does eery year

  • so good! and you were all in perfect timing :)

  • Waaay too fast...

  • bleah

  • beautifull!!!!

  • such pretty italian fouettes!

  • Tsaikovsky is one of my favorite composers. His music is amazing.

  • @688james its tchiakovsky. and his music is pretty awesome

  • The sad thing is, is that I can imagine hearing those psycho teachers/coaches/instructors freaking out at these girls "NO NO NO! FAILURES! YOUR TIMING IS OFF! DO IT AGAIN FROM THE TOP!" These girls are amazing. Keep up the good work, you artists of bodies :D

  • hopefully this is the part im going to have in my nutcracker this year! is this a kind of good part? for someone who is working their way up the totem pole at her studio and is right below the lead role girls?

  • I came for the music, and got this! I enjoy reading all the comments from dancers. I've seen a variety of professional performances of this ballet, and this certainly rates among them. I'm suprised to read they are amateurs.

  • Where is this?

  • at 1:05 they didnt close there fifth all the way. Just rember, plie, fifth, and the floor are your best friends :-)

  • I love when it changes to minor at around 1:22!!!!!!

  • their awesome

  • the girl doing foités in the back is really good.

  • what is the name of song?

  • I think they could have tried a little harder... maybe point your toes next time? straighten your knees in arabesque? Maybe realize there is 5 of you on stage not 5 soloists? really quiet messy

  • the whole thing was good...except the fouettes really could have been better

  • very together

  • pfff... despues de estar biendo otros videos la musica de este se me izo muy revolucionada, muy rapida, :S

    jajaja

aun asi es me pareco genial la idea,

    y todas muy coordinadas

    bravo

    ^^

  • the lead kinda fell out of her fouette turns but looked beautiful otherwise

  • Whoa.. this is weird. Not to say the dancing's bad, because it isn't, but at my ballet my have Marzipan and the lambs dancing to this music.

  • i don't like this variation and the music >:O

  • excellent!!! no mistakes at alll!!!

  • what's wrong with the volume of the music and acoustics of the hall if I can easily hear a footsteps??

  • Thanks for posting this video! Great job....I am in the Nutcracker this yr and one of my parts is a Reed Flute! The dance is different from this one but I still enjoyed watching this!

  • its ok but your outfits were really messed up sorry but o well and if you look at them its like yuck

  • Oh my God!! Nice fouette turns!! :o good job!!

  • Oh my God!! It's really awesome!! Thaks u so much for upload this video!!

  • Aw, man! I made a nice comment on this video and it never showed up.

    Oh, well.

Keep up the hard work, ladies.

  • Honestly!

Dancers in a youth ballet company work extra hard to produce such quality work. I thought it was good. Of course, if we were in rehearsal, I would be nit-picking, but we're not-- so it was lovely. :)

I was especially impressed with the section of choreography where ALL 5 girls did a sequence of arabesques into pirouettes. TOGETHER! Brava.

  • I've just been watching Royal ballet performances and I watched this initially not knowing it was amateur- the only thing that gave it away was the back drop/ props- obviously compared to the royal ballet there's an evident difference, but the back drop was still lovely and elaborate compared to alot of small theatres in England.

I did'nt think the performance was too far off the ability and professionalism of the Royal ballet dancers- so keep going and ignore the ignorant, jealous comments!

  • They danced in synch which is pretty! But the music to this version of this piece I didn't like as much.

  • i think that some dancers should go on point with the other dancers during the last puriets!!! (the second girl on the right in the triangle didnt go on point at all) work does need to be done, rutene could be better but all and all they did all right to me

  • cool. really nice.

  • For a student production, it is nice. As a teacher/choreographer, I might have changed those final fouettes to something else that she does really well. I'd rather showcase something that a dancer can do well, instead of something difficult that she struggles at. As kindly as I can say it, they weren't done very well. :(

That being said, I think they were all pretty good, not professional but honestly, we can't all be pros. There were flaws but overall: enjoyable.

  • its realy pretty

  • wow i could've mistaken this for professional it was fantastic ! good lines ! very together. just keep pointing those toes no matter what !

  • I think they did a lovely job. =) I like it!

  • the 1st two fouettes were kinda messed up...

  • i can't tell professional from amateur because I can't stand ballet, I just like the music. let them do what they want, it's all OK with me, I just listen and don't look

  • I did italian fouettes like that for a solo. Well done!

  • i love the choreography!

  • For an amateur production this looked fantastic!! Very impressive!

  • aunqe se nota qe todavia son estudiantes lo hacen muy bien ^^

  • the arabesques are poor but they are very together and have nice turns!

  • I dont know why many people put so negative comments. Obviously, they are not professional, but everybody has time to be students and starter right ? People should not think that all ballet video is from Royal Ballet, I think. These girls are lovely dancers !!

  • These girls are obviously still students and look lovely. I wish everyone would be less insensitive with the negative comments.

  • i agree....

  • i agree!

  • they looked young tho, and i thought it was ok for being young

  • im in this dance. im 11 and im starting blochs soon! im in this dance with all the older girls. cant wait were doing it in april 10 ( my bday) but only the older girls allowed to where blochs in this dance.

all year round i do shows and this dance is one of the best dances ive got in years!

back to you girls i thought it was nice.

    fouettes were ok

    very strong

but what is up with the costumes they dont look right for this dance

over all i thought it looked nice

  • I really dislike the dancing.

  • same, not right for merlitons

  • the fouettes were atroscious

  • i'd like to see you do better.

  • lol one gurl didnt go up onto pointe in that ending turn but tht was great! really strong!

  • lol yeah! she didnt even go up on demi pointe!!!!

  • I thought this dance was pretty good but the costumes look like they should be in waltz of the flowers, where I dance the costumes look like ribbon candy for this variation.

  • the back drop and costumes were ugly, and the turns were a little sloppy, but otherwise it was ok.

  • im not being funny but lay off

this is an ameter production and these girls had bout four months to reherse this dance and most of them are in full time education

as for the costumes and backdrop were not the royal ballet and dont have thousands of pounds to spend!!

  • person furthest to the right doesnt look comfertable en pointe

  • wait...i thought this variation is called french??? well. that was nice but that girls fouttes was ab it sloppy. still good though!

  • all of there arabesques arent very good and the one girls fuettes (sry for spelling) arent very good either... not very good at all

  • i agree:)

well, generally it looks good,i didn't notice the fouette, but yeah they have to practice those arabesques a little bit more:)

  • oooo point those toes and watch it on those turns!! really nice effort, tho. keep up the good work!

  • they all need to work on there arabesques.

en they need to strech there leggs.

i think some of them aren't ready for pointes.

but for the one in the middle, good job!

the rest of them, more practice and you might pull this off.

excuse me for my english but i don't speak enlish very well. x

  • i think the one in the middle has the best form out of all of them...tho i don't really like her fuettes as much.

  • yes and she is quite a bit older than the others...
