Hi Steve Tom Hislop here from Ayrshire in Scotland. I just bought a 50hp force but when I start it up ( with the water cans on ) there's no water coming out of the outboard. Could you tell me if this would be an impellar fault.
@HislopTom Hi Tom! Even with a brand new water pump and thermostat, water did not "pee" out the 2 exhaust holes. At wide open throttle in the river the best it did was mist or perhaps a bit better than mist out the exhaust holes. much of the water leaks out a small hole right beside one of the 4 bolts that hold the foot onto the leg. I think it is the front starboard side bolt... this hole is there to prevent build up of water in the cavaties in the leg.
@HislopTom I ran out of characters on teh previous reply...
I have heard these force motors don't do well with water ear muffs and should be submerged in a bucket right up to the top cavitation plate for the water pump to work properly. If you try this and don't get any mist at all out exhaust ports, pull the thermostat and see if that does anything... if still no water out thermostat port, bad impeller or clogged passage... changing water pump is easy...
hi there. no i didn't post any other videos. once the gear case is assembled it is pretty straight forward to attach it to the motor leg. the only critical part is ensuring the shift rod is properly adjusted because if not, it can prematurely wear out the forward gear/clutch dog teeth causing it to slip out of fwd into neutral under power.
