@666mathew The club is mentioned in this clip. As for how well it sold, I don't know. I just know that later in the year the anti-disco people made their message loud and clear, and the genre started to die out.
this is why disco got no respect, anyone and everyone was recording it, there was bound to be a backlash against it sooner or later....the album itself is very formulaic disco for its time
Lafleur was a great hockey player during the disco era producing 560 goals and 1353 points in his career. He lead the league in scoring three times and won two MVPs. He recorded six 50-goal and six 100-point seasons. Wow!
Ah, yes. Guy Lafleur making his very first disco album with the sport that most Canadians watch during winter, ice hockey.
Ah oui. Guy Lafleur qui fait son premier disque de disco en vinyl avec le sport que la plupart des Canadiens regardent durant l'hiver, le hockey sur glace. :)
Dancin fools... Swinginly arrogant gestures, enduced by coke, Ego, and all the other Nonentities that inhabit the trite banality of DISCO... Funk/RnB/Soul/Jazz/Latin was the original and best form of dancing... Disco is for the Bobby Brown's of the world... homo's . At least he admits he can't dance...
Ahem! Alot of disco produced in the 70's came from french producers. Take Gino Soccio for example. There is no doubt he was a huge influence in the french disco scene.
And let's not forget Patrick Hernandez, who had a huge hit with "Born to Be Alive". Or the Gibson Brothers, with "Cuba", "Que Sera Mi Vida", and other hits. Or Didier Marouani & his band Space, with "Magic Fly".
Yes, watching Guy get down and score WILL indeed take on a whole new meaning...
