I thought about playing this game a few years ago but never really started playing. Now, I'd like you to tell me:

Is this game worth playing?

Well, at the moment Uru Live isn't available. Cyan has said it is going to release it as Open Source, but they're busy trying to stay afloat in the current economy.

If you want to play through most of the Uru Ages, you can find Uru: Complete Chronicles at Amazon. There's also a community of people who have found a way to make their own worlds and add them to Uru: CC.

Heh, the music in this is a throwback to the original Myst, seems like.

I wonder who composed it - probably not the guy who did most of the Uru tracks.

I believe Tim Larkin composed this piece (he composed the music in Uru). It was the audio behind the trailer for realMYST (which was a kind of testbed for the Uru game engine).

the scenery is amazingly detailed in this game. So what if it doesn't have shaders, and it doesn't have a MILLION GLOW SHADERS everywhere to make it "HD" I dun care, My comp can support that, but I still prefer detail and creativism to "HD". I like how with the ages you go to, from the beginning of the D'ni to the golden age, to the fall. I wish I could have played, the activation code on my box was invalid =( aw well.

I feel that the release of Myst Online has ended the series excellently. With continuously updating worlds, with not just NPC's with bots but real people at the other end. An amazing end to and amazing series.

I love the Myst series and I am very dissapointed that I ended. Cyan (or who ever now owns Myst) should release another Myst game that incorpirates all of the ages over the 7 (i think) games of Myst plus more. That would make me extreamly happy and probally many other people.

Nope. This is a different kind of MMO. We already have plenty combat-focused MMOs.

I'm furious and sad that M.O.U.L. will close 2 months, and I want to do something about it! I tried doing a strike to force CYAN + Gametap to stick it open for 3 more years or so, but they said no, then I wanted to relocate the players to Second Life, but that failed too. My pen pal says I should make an URU slide show here with some good music, but how? If this truly ends, it'll ruin my life FOREVER!!

That wasn't the video's aim. If you read the description, the video's goal was to show the many wonderful and beautiful places we got in the first season.

True. But I wasn't up to debating that in this. I knew that the GZ would make an impressive ending portion to the movie with the music theme and figured, with that semi-angelic tone, that it could be about the ending and a show off of the places people were able to explore together this past year.

Rand Miller said Cyan istrying to see if they can host the game themselves, though. There is still hope! :)

Maybe the game would even be better without Gametap enforcing things like the Episode system.

Heh this series of games is so much a part of me that I have nightmares with goggle wearing Ghen look-a-likes as the villians (odd considering the original games had no combat). It's *FREE*...if you haven't checked it out...do!

how do you do all that camera panning. I have wanted to make my own videos for Myst online, but I see people taking shots from places almost impossible for a avatar to get to.

All the shots (except the one of the Gahreesen building and of the area in Kadish where the camera rotates around the book) were simply taken in MOUL using the game's movement controls in first person. Those other two shots were taken in the old offline Uru using a flymode patch. If you see some shot in a video like zooming around in the sky it's either taken from one of Cyan's own trailers or taken with flymode. You should never use flymode in MOUL though. It's only for the old game.
