  • One classy lady.

  • Wow, a blistering performance by a gorgeous and talented woman.

  • it's a nice song - but the melody and backing track are too close to gilbert o'sullivan for comfort...

  • good to hear this again,it takes me back to when i was a teenager

  • I'd dance with her anytime.

  • @Stemax1960 Hope you can dance with a zimmer frame. LOL

  • and old pirate radio DJ Ed Stewart with the male vocal.

  • "...a lonely wallflower waiting by the wall..." Yeah, right, Lyndsey. Smashing song though, brings back a lot of memories

  • nice song from a lovely voice

  • Hardy hear from this beautiful blonde songwriter and preformer these days, apart from Sunday night when BBC Radio Tees played this hit.

  • May I have the pleasure of this dance??

  • i sure want to dance withe you great number

  • A classy girl, the Rolls Royce of pop,

  • @Glenn1967ful Minnnie Mouse on helium !!!

  • @Glenn1967ful A bit of a banger.

  • As a teenager at the time I found this really so sexy that I really loved her and wanted to marry her. This is the same that was on Jim'll Fix It when another young lad made me so jealous by dancing with her, how I wished that I could have done that.

  • beautiful lady with music from the heart.....

  • Very true she was / is very beautiful espescially to a 13 year old horny male!!! Shame this is not the original 1973 recording with 'Ed Stewpot Stewart' on the end !!! Pax to all from Ian Smith.Xxx.

  • Hauntingly beautiful melody and wonderfully sung !

  • @sgtpepperize wonderfully SUNG that's a JOKE !!! Well guess there is no accounting for taste !!!

  • Wont somebody dance with me?

  • Superb.

  • I'd have loved to give her one ..cup of tea !

  • ...da ascoltare ad occhi chiusi...circondati dai nostri ricordi...

  • Linsey and Gilbert O Sullivan, the sounds of the 70s.

Voice of an angel - and gorgeous to boot

  • thanks for posting not heard this for 35 years many memories

  • Thee slow popsong og the seventies!!

  • long live Lynsey- the best

  • Beautiful song

  • Very,very beautiful lady.

To top it off this lady even makes a great cup of coffee................

Real pleasure to have met her and wish her well in the future.

  • @beaglebob

You should be so lucky. :)

  • @conniff44

Actually i was lucky, been in a lot of houses owned by famous people and met a hell of a lot of them but atleast Miss De Paul was the most down to earth. And as i've said she make's a great cup of coffee...........

  • I never thought I would ever be jealous of another person but you have just thrown that out the window.

  • Well there you go..............

I'll talk about people i've met but i will not talk about what i do,what i've seen, heard, where they live/work etc.................

But as i've previously said,Miss De Paul is a beautiful lady in real life and totally down to earth when i met her, that is an awful lot more than the majority..............

But being a professional i only asked for one signature, that being for the office only...........

  • I was a teenager 13/14. I used to have trouble breathing when I saw her on telly. I came over all unnecessary

  • know that feeling i was the same it was the mole and the hopeless hormones

  • She was such a babe in the 70's and I loved this track. A real part of the soundtrack to my life. Great for school disco smootching! Thanks Lynsey!

  • nicely said.know what you mean.

  • excellent

  • A lovely song and I have to say the words are so good ,someone to care etc !Wd love some one to dance with me !

  • @julestheangel ill damn well dance wiv u jules

  • The best ever voice . Better than Dana or Kate Bush

  • you said it well.

  • @farttart00000 your missing the point

  • A very classy record of the type that just isn't made any more. This was much played on the radio throughout the seventies.

  • This is the re mastered version as the spoken part isn't done by Ed Stewart. However, it's barely different to the single version.

  • thank you, she's the best....

  • hello, Spanna, there is a compilation shown on here, but I don't know if it's still available. She hasn't had a hit in Britain since 1977. I love this song as it is so classy and beautifully produced.

  • One classy lady

  • Has she ever released a Best Of?

  • Lynsey won the Ivor Novello award for this beautiful composition ... I wish she'd record again ... a unique voice but perhaps best remaining a unique memory !

  • Maybe, maybe not. I watched the Ronettes getting invested into the R&R hall of fame and they sing three of their sixties songs and sound as good now as then, perhaps even better with the maturity bringing a different class to the sound.

Have a listen to them, see if you agree.

  • thats true but a lovely memory all the same

  • She was the 70s female version of Skellern/O'Sullivan but much prettier ; )

  • What a beautiful song by Lynsey de Paul! So sweet and sexy...

  • have you got that other hit.. no honestly.. loved that one....

  • was she not the first woman to win the ivor novello award with this? maybe it was no honestly? either way both good!

  • Gonzo sings this in one episode of the Muppet Show.

I think he did a slightly better job. :P

  • top piece of totty in her day! :)lol

  • she was on suzi quatro's radio bbc2 radio show last week- she rules!

  • Haven't heard her since I was a kid! (I live in the US now) Sweet voice :)

  • I love the fact that she didnt sing with a fake American accent ugghh, i hate that (LOL well most of the words that is)

  • this gal was on uk tv 2 weeks ago

    i love her songs

she is still one sexy gal and im gay

    lol

  • Can't believe she ever lacked for a dance partner!

  • I believe she lived with actor James Coburn for quite some time!

  • Musically, this is very good - sweet melody, nice chords and key changes. Such a shame this lady faded out.

  • My first love,i was 10 year old!

  • And not doubt your still in love with her. Her beauty hasn't diminished, still so attractive and with a real ladies quality.

  • thank you

  • love this song...

  • i loved the way she sung and the way she looked.she was truly talented and beautiful singer. she was the greatest as far as i was concerned.

  • Beautiful song and Lady.

  • Oh my god, this is so great! This brings back so many memories. Haven't heard this song in ages, thanks for uploading!

  • I'm not sure but I think this is a re-recording and not the original one. I am still looking for the version of which I think it is the original because I like that version much better. There is also a re-recording version of "Sugar me" that I do not like that much.

  • This is the original recording ronh.

  • Great track sung by a Beautiful talented singer who

by the way was also a top piano player and

for me one of the most ATRACTIVE ladies that

    ever walked the planet thanks.

  • Her talent was her beauty spot. Terrible singer.

  • could you upload don "Dancing On A Saturday Night" in the version of this artist, please?. i only find this song in version of Barry BLue, but to me is better in version a voice of a woman like this artist.

    pleeease xD

  • She is a real talent - I remember she wrote a stunningly beautiful song "when I'm alone with you" - feminine, and talented...rare talent indeed

  • She is so beautiful.

  • I love Linsey but this song is not my type..

  • Brilliant!

  • cool, so cool

  • It says so on wikipedia anyway, under Lynsey de paul.

  • Having listened a few times to him, you can hear it is. Good finding that out.

  • I only found out recently that the man who talks near the end is Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart.

  • Are you sure? - it sounds a bit posh for Stewpot.

  • shame about the video...this is the most famous singer i have ever spoken to (personally)and strange that we spoke about this song, and i did say that all they guys in class at school wanted to queue up to be the one who said "may i have the pleasure of this dance"...she wasnt impressed, since i am only 8 years younger!!

  • Very under rated artist....loved her at school and this is her best offering without doubt.

  • This is nice.

She had a style of her own.
