@HeavenlyLee I'm in high school and I disagree with you completely. You CAN and SHOULD stop curiosity and hormones--its the parent's job to steer their child in the right direction. Obviously if no one takes it personally, "kids can do whatever they like as long we're not liable in some way." That sort of attitude tends to spread to the point where your daughter or your son is involved. Then you wouldn't be ok with curiosity or hormones.

I was taught sex ed every year from Grade 4- 9. Grade 4 was one class, saying sperm + egg = baby. Grade 5 was two or three classes, mainly just talking about our changing bodies, puberty, and a review of the sperm + egg = baby lesson. Grade 9 was the most advance (obviously), which included a sexual education nurse showing us how to put a condom on properly (demonstrating on a banana-shaped wood contraption), what a female condom looked like, etc etc, and also I believe it was the first year (c)

My school taught sex ed in grades 5, 7, and 9. But we only learned about the penis going into the vagina, methods of contraception, abstinence, and pregnancy and what that resulted in. It was not scary, it was not a horny good time, it was sex and the consequences which may result no matter how old you are. By the time I graduated in a class of 200 students, 5 girls had babies, and I never heard of anyone having an STD. Obviously, something good came of sex ed.
In the high school I went to, or at least the alternative program I attended, they not only told us all about condoms, birth control, stds, etc., they did a little exercise to show how fast stds can spread and then they showed us a slide show of genital warts and infections, all sorts of diseased pussies, dicks and even a few assholes. I sure as hell didn't want to have sex for a while after that and when the shock and disgust wore off eventually, I used condoms every time.

that the boys and girls were put together. I had no sexual activity until I was 18 years old, but let me tell you, I thank that woman for showing me how to work a condom. It's not just the guy's responsibility to make sure there is a condom and that it's on properly! I also thank my mother for talking to me about sex from Grade 4+ ("Boys only want one thing." "Boys will tell you they love you to get what they want."......lol), therefore making me completely comfortable talking about sex. :)

I was taught sex ed every year from Grade 4- 9. Grade 4 was one class, saying sperm + egg = baby. Grade 5 was two or three classes, mainly just talking about our changing bodies, puberty, and a review of the sperm + egg = baby lesson. Grade 9 was the most advance (obviously), which included a sexual education nurse showing us how to put a condom on properly (demonstrating on a banana-shaped wood contraption), what a female condom looked like, etc etc, and also I believe it was the first year (c)

My school taught sex ed in grades 5, 7, and 9. But we only learned about the penis going into the vagina, methods of contraception, abstinence, and pregnancy and what that resulted in. It was not scary, it was not a horny good time, it was sex and the consequences which may result no matter how old you are. By the time I graduated in a class of 200 students, 5 girls had babies, and I never heard of anyone having an STD. Obviously, something good came of sex ed.

In the high school I went to, or at least the alternative program I attended, they not only told us all about condoms, birth control, stds, etc., they did a little exercise to show how fast stds can spread and then they showed us a slide show of genital warts and infections, all sorts of diseased pussies, dicks and even a few assholes. I sure as hell didn't want to have sex for a while after that and when the shock and disgust wore off eventually, I used condoms every time.

Well - back in those days, my father was an ob-gyn. (He started in the late 30ies). Whatever the wing-nuts tell you, unwated pregnancies were plentiful, teenage sex too (remember Jack Nicholson discovering at a late age, that his real mother was the woman he thought was his sister). STDs were more than rampant, a huge number of abortions were carried out under the radar - Dad would attend a kind of "clinic" once a week, pro bono, to terminate these unwanted pregnancies.
