  • The best mezzo ever!!!!

  • Это ужасно.Голос качается и спето фальшиво.

  • @karasik41

Seems you are the only who hears this. Her voice is marvellous.

  • grande voce a true mezzo

  • La sua voce ti penetra l'anima...her voice fills your soul up! Forget the rest

  • La sua voceti penetra l'anima...her voice fills your suol up! Forget the rest

  • I have seen her perform it many times. With her looks and drama she takes you away even if always vocally perfect. A lot of coloration andpure excitement!! :D:D

  • Awesome! TY

  • Bravissima!!!!!!!!

  • I think some people just go from one recording to the next and try to impress us with their comments.I can count the number of great mezzo's on one hand and she is by far the greatest both as an artist and a human being, she suffered so much in her youth and as yet become an example to us all for what canbe achieved by true dedication....I have never seen her live but her video and recordings have enriched my own love of opera more than words could ever express.

  • @BS4987tarmac you`re really lucky if you know 5 good mezzos. I hardly do but certainly Obraztsova is one of them. And in my opinion her Azucena is the best I can imagine.

  • non è molto bilanciata.

peccato perchè la voce è stupenda, ma male calibrata.

  • First of all thank you Onegin to post my favorite mezzo!

Whoever don't like her, you don't have to listen.

The way you guys express opinion about singing, I can tell, who criticizing her, have NO CLUE about singing!!!

She is/was/ one of the greatest voice. Period. If somebody force the voice could NOT have a sound, like this and have a carrier, like her!

Have you ever try to use your ear?

    Or maybe you want attention?

Anyway, this case give pearls for pigs, they not going to appreciate it!

  • Good job! I enjoy her singing, and yes, it does lack the finesse we hear in many others. What made such a great career for her? THE EXCITEMENT! Yes, her performances were a thrill to attend. She is NOT forcing! So many think forcing is just making the voice sing too loudly. That is NOT forcing! Forcing is the need to blast the air through the vocal folds in order to hit a note or sing one. There is no evidence of this happening at all. And some of the worst forcing occurs singing piano!

  • I saw her sing this at Covent Garden in the eighties She was absolutely electrifying!

  • AWESOME!

  • Her studio recording is very different; more controlled for casual listening. She is getting into the character, and Azucena is insanely mad!!!!! From the audience, this would come across very effectively!

  • I guess I don't hear what others hear: bad pitch, bad diction, no expression. I do admit that I prefer she not use so much glottal attack for expression. (This is employed quite a bit by Eastern European singers, Marton, for example.) I greatly respect this singing, nevertheless. One thing so special about this mezzo is the bottom register, which stays pointed, resonant, and, to my ears, in tune.

  • Hi,

I appreciate you opinion, and I think if you listen more from Obraztsova, you would reconsider what you wrote.

Eva Marton really is a bad singer, you are right with this.

But two different voice we getting in here.

I start with the vibrato. Healthy or not. On the other hand unfortunately recordings sometimes takes away from the voice, have you ever hear her alive?

    Then you should judge.

I don't want to be a pest, but where did you here her sing out of tune?

  • I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I said that I DID NOT hear what others heard when they said Obraztsova sang with bad pitch, bad diction and with no expressiion. I was disagreeing with remarks made by others. As for Eva Marton, I heard her in her prime. Her Turandot in Vienna in 1983 was unforgettable. She was absolutely fabulous. I also enjoyed her Brunnhilde and Elektra in Chicago in the 90s. Her voice decline as she aged, but I respect her artisty.

  • P.S. don't get me wrong, I like big voices but when they express something, MDM is an example-he is somewhat forcing too but he sings with expression and acts well in his favorite rep. Obrzc. is neither actress nor a good singer, sorry

  • Somebody explain what is to like about Obrazcova? Hudge voice? She is always forcing it and there is no expression in her singing, or rather he same one and yet she had a hudge career

  • LOUD, LOUD and LOUDER! Why so forced?

  • A thrilling sound, but even considering the part, quite unruly singing.

  • I said it before and now-first class voice but dull in everything she sang, no diction, off-pitch and always forcing like she has nothing to offer but voice

  • Я не очень ценил Образцову,но это явный шедевр.Ещё она хороша в роли графини в Пиковой даме.

  • The mighty Elena. I would not want her as my mother. I do admire that she attempts the trills (che s'alza al ciel), ignored by most mezzos. She's frightening, as Azucena should be.

  • I agree. She sounds unhinged. After all, this is melodrama. I go to the opera hoping to encounter such characters.
