actually FF12 has a good battle system to be improved upon in FF13 but what i hate the most is Square changed it drastically into a shitty battle system.looking at Xenoblade gameplay it pretty mush reminded me of FF12.I may consider Xenoblade as FF12 with much vastly openworld.

Sad thing is I would have preferred FF13 to look like this. Least then I may not have been let down so much. That was 60 bucks I wish I could get back. Hell I am playing my PS1 disk of FF7 right now and would take that game any day of the week over the garbage called ff13. Personally I feel 13 was one of the biggest pieces of garbage ever. flashing eye candy with lack of substance.It would have been better if they just made it into a movie and skipped the "game play".

@Galactic123Game Well if you're not in to linearity in your game then what I suggest is that you watch FF13 on Youtube (trust me, it might be better than actually playing it), and then go play FFXIII-2. Since 13 is mainly story driven, watching it is almost like a movie and pretty good viewing material. On the other hand, 13-2 focuses on gameplay, so it's a must-play.

I want proper turn based combat to come back. It was more strategic and allowed you to spend time watching the beautiful graphic animations of magic / moves. XIII + XIII-2 aren't bad, but half the time the screen is filled with explosions and magic and you can't actually see anything in battle, and the strategy is just switching paradigms fast.

@GaxAngel Nail. Head. Hit. I've been away from FF series since FFX. Out of curiosity I played FFXIII-2 demo and just was not wowed by any of it. Although I think the paradigm shift is a nice mechanic but what was distracting to me was the constant camera movement and incessant light shows. Sort of robs me of the experience if every single fight is made out to be a cinema frenzy. Fights that require that amount of intensity should at least be regulated to boss fights.

To be fair, S-E said the reason FFXIII was so linear (no towns/exploration) was because of it being too costly to develop HD towns and assets for that at the time. That being said, a Wii version of FFXIII would have been far better. Yeah, the story would still be contrived, Vanille would still be annoying, but it might actually turn out to be a good game to actually play.

FFXIII actually had a tech demo. designed for the PS2, but it was scrapped and the project was reborn on PS3 but with the whole Fabula Nova Crystalis mythology around it. (along with FF Type 0, Versus XIII and now FFXIII-2 and eventually XIII-3) But the original FFXIII had problems in development because of miscommunication within the team (among other things) which caused problems and delays. Gamasutra did a big article on this with S-E back in 2010 I believe.

But if the game sucks, then they will not be getting my money, last FF game i bought was FFIV PSP, last Console FF game i bought was FFIX. The fact is Squareenix has dropped the ball numerous times on the franchise, lost many fans. No amount of graphics, and story will make up for boring battles you can just put on auto. I might as well watch a playthrough on youtube then pay $60 for the game to play iteself.
