I was born in a community were it was most likely to be shot. I was very poor growing up in a mostly non-white community, and I saw first hand discrimination and disadvantages. But fortunately, my parents persevered and we eventually got out of there, so trust me, I know what its like to brought up in a poor community where opportunities aren't provided - and we made it. There were several non-whites who made it out of that community, way before affirm action. Thats why I dont buy it.

He got the last spot because they had enough whites, but not enough blacks to fill the quota. The only thing I can say is that most black students tend to be lower achievers than their white counterparts. I don't like to make mass judgments like this, but this is the way it is. In my school, half of everyone is black, about 20% of kids in Honors are black, and about 5-10% of AP students are black.
Of course private charities and sovereign individuals can do whatever they want, establishing minority scholarships, etc., and there are a lot of those floating around: private racism. What I'm opposed to is subsidized colleges (i.e. colleges funded by my tax money) which prefer black over whites. This essentially means that the government is directly favoring and funding a race;this is the only institutionalized racism remaining in the U.S. All else was done away with long ago.

I'll give you part of that; lower expectations for majority black inner-city schools have made it so that the children who do want to learn cannot. My uncle, a track coach at Rhodes College, had a girl from some schuzo inner city school get in on a track scholarship-her GPA was 4.0, her ACT was 21; she could meet her school's standards but not the ACT's. The public school system is a cesspool, and children who want to learn cannot.
Yeah, and also, studies show that kids tend to live up to what you expect of them, so if you don't expect anything of them, they don't get as far. That really sucks about that girl. Our public education system is failing us, especially in inner city schools. We really need to make it better.

I won a lawsuit against affirmative action 10 years ago.
The state board of regents had a scholarship program in which 1,500 students were given scholarships to attend college. By my academic qualifications alone, I should have been awarded the scholarship, but I was passed over for 232 black men who had lower test scores and a lower grade-point average than I did. I heard about a class action lawsuit a few years later (while I was IN college) and signed up for it. I won my scholarship!

I was born in a community were it was most likely to be shot. I was very poor growing up in a mostly non-white community, and I saw first hand discrimination and disadvantages. But fortunately, my parents persevered and we eventually got out of there, so trust me, I know what its like to brought up in a poor community where opportunities aren't provided - and we made it. There were several non-whites who made it out of that community, way before affirm action. Thats why I dont buy it.

He got the last spot because they had enough whites, but not enough blacks to fill the quota. For years white christian males were being handed jobs that they were not qualified for while more qualified women and minorities were stuck doing entry work and taking home nothing for a salary. I wouldn't type this much text unless it were for something I felt strongly about. I would apologize for my repeated diatribes, if only I felt a desire to. I argue with a proponent of affirmative action with the same vigor as I would with a white supremacist. The only difference between the two is that one is simply a reactionary to the other.

Look at what this does. First of all, it forces me to be racist. A black doctor is operating on me. If he became a doctor by pure merit, fine. If he has his job because of AA, how do I know he's qualified? He could have been the best in his class but poor, OR...he could be an idiot who slipped in, his only qualification being the color of his skin. You surely agree that the policy of AA can often replace a qualified student with a less qualified one in the name of diversity and reparation.

What about the NEW DEAL of the 1930's where economic stimulus loans went out to whites which gave growth to the giant white corporations of today. Did blacks or other minorities get these loans? There is no forward racism; at least, institutionalized racism is virtually non-existent in the United States today (the exception being AA), although there is some private racism. Many of the problems blacks face today are after-effects of racism, but most of them (such as the fact that we have schuzo inner cities, etc.) are due to welfare and socialism (government intervention in the problem). Are you trying to make this about revenge for past injustices or something?

The only thing I can say is that most black students tend to be lower achievers than their white counterparts. I don't like to make mass judgments like this, but this is the way it is. In my school, half of everyone is black, about 20% of kids in Honors are black, and about 5-10% of AP students are black.

Of course private charities and sovereign individuals can do whatever they want, establishing minority scholarships, etc., and there are a lot of those floating around: private racism. What I'm opposed to is subsidized colleges (i.e. colleges funded by my tax money) which prefer black over whites. This essentially means that the government is directly favoring and funding a race;this is the only institutionalized racism remaining in the U.S. All else was done away with long ago.

I'll give you part of that; lower expectations for majority black inner-city schools have made it so that the children who do want to learn cannot. My uncle, a track coach at Rhodes College, had a girl from some schuzo inner city school get in on a track scholarship-her GPA was 4.0, her ACT was 21; she could meet her school's standards but not the ACT's. The public school system is a cesspool, and children who want to learn cannot.

Of course the public school system is a cesspool. They have their handicapper generals walking through there lowering standards so that smart people are bogged down and stupid people are rewarded. If we get rid of all of the handicapper generals in the public school system, we'd be better off. I won a lawsuit against affirmative action 10 years ago.
The state board of regents had a scholarship program in which 1,500 students were given scholarships to attend college. By my academic qualifications alone, I should have been awarded the scholarship, but I was passed over for 232 black men who had lower test scores and a lower grade-point average than I did. I heard about a class action lawsuit a few years later (while I was IN college) and signed up for it. I won my scholarship!

Why are black parents always scared to send their kids to the schools in the communities they live in? They are some of the most well funded schools in the nation. Don't punish "suburban" kids by sending them to schools they don't belong in or live by. "Bussing" students out of district is what truely turned Brown vs. Board on its head...the case involved a little girl who wasn't allowed to go to the school nearest to her and was "sent" to the all black school. Democrats make me laugh.
