shining time station is just like noddy's toy shop and salty's light house never liked noddy's toy shop i always wanted to see the tug parts or the noddy bits
It was Ringo Starr who I first heard the stories from since I was living in England at the time it came out. It became my favorite tv show and even at 32 years old, it is my favorite children's show. Also, I was into trains like my father so talking trains and watching these stories by the Rev Awdry I actually read first come to life was the best thing to see. I would do it again in a heartbeat and glad Thomas was brought to the states in 89 after being back in the US since 1987.
@dylanbobby1 Your right! I remember George Carlin's narrations. They were just as good as Ringo's even though he did it for the US as well. Do you think so?
@dylanbobby1 It's cool that George Carlin did the 1st and 2nd season of Thomas just as Ringo Starr was doing it. I like both their narrations! What's cool about both of them is that they both did episodes of Thomas from those seasons for Shining Time Station.
This is amazing. I watched this show so often growing up, and it's fascinating to see the press it had at the time. Thank you very much for the upload.
@TheRyanCarMan It's great when we have rarities we're actually able to let others enjoy, and we're pleased that it's brought back memories for people.
@Caledonian812 It'd be too much work, and it's very much an American thing. Granted, yes, it'd be a great project to undertake, but the whole thing would be far too new for me to go through with. I've tried watching a few Shining Time episodes, and in all of them, I've been enduring it waiting to see how it relates to the Thomas episode they're showing in the episode. The best I'll probably go for is a page at some point, but there is a great Shining Time website out there somewhere already.
@SiForumsAndFansite Shining Time is definitely something you would have to have grown up with to fully understand its appeal. American childrens' television was/is so much different from British childrens programing. Perhaps the Fansite will one day have a page for it (a section would be asking too much), but it's probably a project that the American staff would have to undertake in their spare time. Don't expect it happening for a while as there are other projects being worked on.
@KrustyFrank27 It wasn't a common thing for celebrities to lend their voices to kids TV Shows at the time, and given that he was already a very important part of rock and roll history, it may have come across as odd for some... but it worked. :)

The news anchors seem to think a show about talking trains won't be that great. Boy, were they wrong!

@thomasandferdinand14 Try the first season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - then you get giant robots into the bargain as well! Two for one! ;)

hmm, somehow I don't recall ever seeing shining time over here, seems the press got a little muddled!

I wonder if this show is still running in the USA.

Amazing video. Seeing Brian O'Connor out of character is fascinating, and I actually find that more of an exciting discovery than the Ringo parts.
