@brandon1997bmx It depends on the vehicle. It seems as though the hex ones are pretty popular, but I've also seen many star tipped ones used to hold various things together too.
@weepulization only time you bleed brakes is when you replace a brake line, a hose, or a caliper. or any part of brake system in which fluid escaped the system, on this type of job only thing you need to remember is when job is done pump up the pedal

excellent instructions thank you very much for this. my 04 cav makes a horrible grinding noise even when i am not pushing the brakes, they were just changed like 2 months ago too. but now i can do it myself and see whats up in there. thank you.
Thank you so much you saved me an arm and a leg. you guys are the best and the top of the line mechanics..... I watch all youguys videos all the time...... Thanks!!!!! -Timothy
@digitalmixer The procedure is the same as this video. You'll need a jack and jackstands. You can use your jack with the vehicle to jack it up but then make sure it is supported by a jack stand as well. Then your lug wrench that comes with the truck to remove the lug nuts. The calipers are probably bolted on with a 3/8 inch allen wrench although I don't know for sure. They may be bolted on with bolts that are anywhere from 13-19 mm. So you may need a socket and ratchet.
Nice video. Loved the part where you forwarded the obvious stuff... shouldn't you be taking the cap of brake oil reservoir off, when pushing the piston back with C-clamp?
@mamatalu Taking the cap off is not totally necessary. Air can escape the reservoir just from pressure. I believe I do suggest removing some brake fluid if it is topped off.
Is it not necessary to suck some brake fluid out of the reservoir before you squeeze the pistons back into the calipers?
Thanks for making videos like this one. They're very helpful.

@calarooni As long as it's at the proper level and not over filled, you should be fine.
