  • steel wool will scratch that without a problem ;D

  • i still won't do that to my zune :D

  • uhmmm yu should give me that zune as a gift

  • 2:25 sorry one more time

  • Haha yeah... I kniw for a fact that sidewalk chalk is stronger than glass (in certain ways)... And that you can set a board on top of a few wine glasses and they wont break when you stand on them... So yeah, there are 3 different types of strength and hardness in the world of physics... Just sayin'...

Either way, im excited to get my zune(:

  • Chrystal is Zune's kryptonite.

  • i was cringing when u used the razor and i cried when u used the knife lol

  • iv scrached my screen somehow but there realy small

  • glass is harder than steel? lol oh so THAT'S why we make tools out of glass..?

    oh wait we don't... ~_~

  • @TehSeanRadcliffe You really don't know what you are talking about, do you? Hardness doesn't mean that is won't break. Hardness is the ability to scratch other materials.. As you just saw, steel didn't scratch the (possibly high silica) glass. Steel has slightly stronger bonds between the atoms, unlike glass, so that is why we use it to make tools with.

  • yea the Zunes are amazing. the screen wont scratch but they do crack. my 120 is cracked all over but the actual screen behind the glass still displays perfect and the device still works perfectly. my Zune has had years of severe abuse, dropped, landed on, the works, and finally it cracks but still works after the worst abuse i can throw at it. i feel that is a pretty damn good testament to the product. I'm about to buy the HD64 and will trust nothing but Zune after the quality I have experienced

  • @jman63469 Durability vs strength vs toughness. Glass is hard, making it durable and is extremely strong but is pretty much nada in the toughness department.

  • i dented the back of my zune......luckily it still works.

  • i must have had a pocket full of diamonds cuz my Zune 120 is scrathced pretty bad.

  • @jakoe3000 Tiny fragments of harder nautural occuring materials usually is the case. There are rocks and such that are all around us that can scratch glass. Larger particles of these materials can get around to your person and eventually do that. Just comes with time.

  • the zune and many other things like care windsheilds, itouches, lots of htc phones ect have tempered glass.... its were the serface is super heated so just the very surface of the glass would fall on a hardness scale of like 9.5 while everything underthe serface still retains some flexability thus pretty indestructible. unless the surface layer is broken thru that can cause mucho problemos.

  • my glass screen cracked so i just ripped it off and now i just use the real plastic screen underneath it

  • i have a ipod and i breaks all the time

  • i love how he wildly stabs the zune and then gently cleans it with the cloth piece

  • I love how he takes out a kitchen knife. That surprised me.

  • I want him to put the Zune on the table, by itself, and then stab it with the knife as hard as he can and record the entire thing with a high speed camera. THAT would be a test.

  • @durge666 no, that would be a stupid idea, not a test, just because a diamond is the hardest substance known to man (other than carbon nanotubes), it doesn't mean you can take a steel hammer and hit the diamond without breaking it, this is a scratch test, not a stress test

  • try a diamond!

  • Awesome, logical video.

  • Wow. Please tell me I made a big mistake getting an iPod Nano. ):

  • video title should be Can your iPod do this?

  • @ToKSiiKRYMaRZ actually it can

  • I have to admit, I cringed at the sight of this, but I'm rather impressed at the result.

  • Yeah, okay. Put a rock over that shit, I guarantee you won't want it anymore.

  • @helgenx But you wouldn't normally find a big rock in your house.

  • @mugen1235 No, you wouldn't, but you would find rocks just about every where you go to if you walk a lot.

  • @helgenx If you read the description, it says "household objects". Not; "Objects you find outside".

  • @mugen1235 That's not the point though, the point is that it's supposed to be scratch proof (to anything) I'm assuming because they say it is scratch proof without direct subjects. I'm not talking just about the video, I am talking about the whole phrase in general.

  • @helgenx You might as well get a gun then.

  • @mugen1235 Bahaha, good call.

  • @helgenx lol Thanks.

  • @helgenx LOL!!!

  • Can someone that owns this Zune please tell how rthe battery life is?

    Thank you.

  • @VakomaNOVA 14 hours of music is what the website says. it can actually last about 12 hours and ive been using it for about a year so the battery is worse than the ipod but i dont mind

  • @micgao

    Thank you.

  • @VakomaNOVA its pretty good i have have just got it this year it is amazing device the battery is bad if you have the wifi on all the time figured it out that the first week when the battery was always die cause it wouldnt turn off you have to make sure to lock it when it is off......or else your screwed

  • i just bought a used 120 and i love it :)

  • wow, there was a day about this in high school science lab

i regret buying a screen protector.

  • Zune ftw, I've had mine for over a year with no problems at all, the screen hasn't scratched and everything works correctly, The Zune software I like because it works well and orgaizes my Media the way I want it. The Battery Life is amazing except for watching movies, I can watch 1-2 movies depending on the length and then it will be nearly depleted, but when just listening to music the battery will last for a few days non-stop.

I had an Ipod and I can say I do not regret upgrading to a Zune.

  • I thought he was going to smash it :( lol

  • Don't be too quick to believe this guy. Plenty of people with moto droids have reported scratches on their screens and that's gorrila glass which is stronger then the zune. Even if the screen are strong, they will scratch. is it not worth the $5 to make absolutely sure it wont? You lose no functionality and have a little more peace of mind about whatever it is you're protecting.

  • keep the mic away from your mouth so we don't have to hear your salavary glands clicking every two seconds. The glass screen is decent too band the hardware isn't worth shit.

  • i cringed wen u put the razor blade it haha

  • Disc cutter.

    In a tool shop.

  • @mastertohn wow comment fail

  • Anyone want to buy a used (like-new) Zune 120?

I'm selling for $235, with original box and sync cable, message for details.

  • There are new ones in the store on sale for $200

  • good to know zunes r better then ifags

  • I was able to handle the key test, I've seen stuff like that before. I'll tell you though, I nearly jumped out of my skin when you started rubbing the razor blade on it; I felt like I was going to throw up.

The kitchen knife? That was too much, I felt like I was going to die.

  • WOW!.... YOU BLEW MY MIND MAN!

I had no idea the screens were so tough... Would have never believed it if I had not seen your video.

Thanks, you're right, I don't need to buy no stinking protector :)

  • nice nife

    i wana poke u!!!

  • Dude, thats educational! And here I was thinking I would need a screen protector. I wonder what the hardness of the shell is? Oh and uh, I have that knife too!

  • careful with the knife -.-' lol

  • Dang, mine came with a TINY little scratch! It's not big, just a little speck, but it is a scratch and it will not go away.

  • I dropped mine off of a 2 story balcony to concrete screen down. No scratches just a little dot under the screen that's only visible when you press directly on the screen HARD.

  • like the review, But you should try that little trick of yourse with a diamond sometime.

  • i think i learned something today

  • Bullshit.. my car keys left a super deep scratch in my 120.. im still tryin to figure out how to get it out...

  • toothpaste

  • he said the newer ones, maybe you have an old one?

  • i got mine like 4 months ago.. its pretty new...

  • yeah dont worry guys, the glass on the zune screen is really hard, i droped mine face first on the rought cement like 4 times, also had it in my pocket full of god knows what. after about 2 years of use 0! scratched, only tha paint on the corners is chiped. Zunes are great except i played paintball with mine and crushed the screen to hell, but its tempred so it didnt even fall apart but i cant really see.

  • Lol don't sit on it or something though, friend of mine cracked his screen within a month >.>

  • will this screen be on the zune HD s well?

  • I would expect it to be better.

  • doubt it, the zune hd has anti smudge

  • aww... II have the old uncle of all zunes... the zune 30 gig brown... this, sadly has a plastic screen and it's share of scratches... and strangeley enough, a few particles of dust under the screen.

  • why would you stab the poor zune like that...:( it has an 80gig wife and an 8gig on the way :(

  • @HICKSproductions lol so hard

    good one

  • so why does the glass not scratch the steel?

  • Trust me...that glass is wearing nicely on those blade edges. I'm a big cutlery person and my knives have been obliterated by glass surfaces before.

  • ha ha the BIG ASS KNIFE!

  • zune ftw

  • at 1:20 ......this guy drives a Honda..

  • Hahahahahaha... good eyes.

  • you should do it on the side of the screen incase it really gets scratched. then you could resell it without a annoying scratch in the middle. or unless you get them for free and you dont really care

  • cant decide, this or the 120gb ipod classic?

  • if you can i would wait til September because that's when apple usually updates their ipod line and this will most likely mean more storage on the classic and their should be a new zune coming out around that time too, that's what I'm doing

  • LOL choose the Zune 120.

    The real question is:

Zune 120 or Ipod Touch (8gb)

  • it doesnt really matter they both do the same thing.i could understand if you were choosing between this and a ipod touch but this and a 120 ipod classic are basically the same thing.they have the same amount of memory and both play movies and music?haha

  • zune its so much better and the music is cheeper

  • will the screen scratch with a rock?

  • lol ok i didnt do anything to mine i just have it in my pocket when i go to school and i have a scratch wtf? lol (its small but it bothers me because i know its there haha) ima just buy a case for it..

fuck that zune HD because i just got this zune 120 like 2 months ago :(

  • again, scratches are annoying, but pressure is the real killer. Look at metalurgy, the sharpest and durable blades have to have a composite of iron and carbon in order to be both sharp and durable. Flexability is nessesary to make a better blade... Glass shatters because its so hard. You can drop something with a plastic screen far more than anything with a glass screen. It is true however, that the glass screen will not scratch quite as easily. regardless, over extended use, it will scratch...

  • made me feel sick

but another reason why i bought thy zune

  • Awesome. You just saved me $15. Thanks!

  • lol that hurt me to watch that..lol great vid though

  • i know LOL

  • One problem. You didn't test pressure, or stronger force, for example sitting on it, or dropping it from about 5 feet.

    That shattered my screen.

  • that has nothing to do with the hardnes of glas, but the flexibility and thinkness.

  • Trudat. This is a "screen durability" test, not MP3 durability test.

  • u cant prevent it from braking with a little plastic on it

  • Good video, I have a question. I have a Zune 80 and supposedly the 120 and the 80 are very similar.

Is my screen as tough as the 120?

  • cant believe how thick the zune's are though.

  • same as ipod classic i compared it with my ex girlfriend's ipod when i first bought it

same thickness zune is a bit taller

  • It'd be nice having a 120GB player but can't stand the size of them.

  • Dude.. the zune is much thicker!

  • no its not.

  • id say so because they are both the same shell but the componets on the inside are different

  • wow great vid!

  • lol that knife. I'm gonna get one of these on the strength of this video.

  • Damn! I got one of those Zunes and they are great! Nice video! 5/5 Fuck iPods

  • wow nice job... perfect!
