It's kosher for American's to state love for Israel (more so than other Americans), and Israel has mandatory enlistment at the age of 18 (yes for men and women). I don't want a draft of any sort, but if there is one, why SHOULD it be male only? Most military roles are non-combat, there's plenty else to do, so you can't even use physical differences as an excuse. When I was a young man if you got busted for a crime the Judge would give you two choices. You enlist in the service within 48 hours or you go immediately to jail for your full sentence. You would have a clean record when you got out of the service. That helped a lot of men to live a fruitful life.

The only way to avoid required military service, in the event of a draft, is to provide enough evidence that you are religiously or morally against war, ie people from your community and essays you write will have to prove you are in fact the pope. And if that is proven you still must serve by providing care for elderly, children, or healthcare locally, assuming they don't just assign a non-combative military role.
The military is overflowing with people who are trying to get in. There isn't going to be a draft. To enlist as an active duty marine you have to wait 6+ months just to go to boot camp. You are required to sign up for it if you are a male age 18-25 and in fact eligibility to NOT be drafted has been severely cut since the Vietnam war's draft. You'd know this if you read government sites. I called to their service center today and just got a robot with touch dial options, which made clear that all males, even severely handicapped males are required by law to sign up.

Most military roles are non-combat, there's plenty else to do, so you can't even use physical differences as an excuse. When I was a young man if you got busted for a crime the Judge would give you two choices. You enlist in the service within 48 hours or you go immediately to jail for your full sentence. You would have a clean record when you got out of the service. That helped a lot of men to live a fruitful life.

The only way to avoid required military service, in the event of a draft, is to provide enough evidence that you are religiously or morally against war, ie people from your community and essays you write will have to prove you are in fact the pope. And if that is proven you still must serve by providing care for elderly, children, or healthcare locally, assuming they don't just assign a non-combative military role.

You are required to sign up for it if you are a male age 18-25 and in fact eligibility to NOT be drafted has been severely cut since the Vietnam war's draft. You'd know this if you read government sites. I called to their service center today and just got a robot with touch dial options, which made clear that all males, even severely handicapped males are required by law to sign up.

Jumped into Afghanistan and was right along the invasion of Iraq...but I did it because I wanted to serve my country, not because I had to "earn" my freedom. My Dad works 12 hour shifts in a coal plant at 63 years old...you going to tell me he doesn't deserve to be free?

I would be proud to service the Army of the United States people, but I don't think a draft should be implemented. The attitudes of the draftees and the actual volunteers are completely different. For people who absolutely refuse to serve, power to you, but for those who complain and continue to demoralize and demote the army keep in mind, Those who trade freedom for safety deserve neither.

No where in any law states that people have to be part of the army to be an American and if so I rather not be an American. I will not be forced to fight some false war for any one. But if that ever did happen, which seems unlikely, it ISN'T a draft. A lot of countries have compulsory service, but it isn't a wartime draft situation, just a civil service kind of thing. I think it's Germany that requires one year of military or two years of something like the peace corps. You're exaggerating and being paranoid. You honestly come off like a conspiracy theorist.
