Are yall serious..Not trying to be critical but dang there is NOOOO encouragement in this song and i had to turn it off !!! IT sounds JUST PLAIN SCARY!!!! Whose gonna be ridin down the street blasting this with the windows down without other drivers startled by what they hear and looking at u like why are u listening to that!!
OMG!!!! OMG!!!! OMG!!!! I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS SONG FOR 30YEARS I KNOW!!!! This song is featured on a Gospel Classics Album along with the 5 Blind Blinds Boys, The Caravans, James Cleveland and many others...the album got misplaced and I never heard it again!!! THIS IS RENDITION OF A MOTHERLESS CHILD IS AMAZINGINGLY HAUNTING!!!! WHO IS THE BASS LEADER???? OMG!!!!
Thank you for sharing this. Both my father and grandfather were members of the Harmonzing Four. I have countless memories, music and history. One day I must take the time to share about the music and life on the road as a gospel singer in that era with so many greats.
Was brought up on this music. Wonderful bass singer, best ive ever heard. This too reminds me of my grandad in the Norfleet Brothers. gives my chills listening!!!! thanx for the post
u can see how black music sssooo influenced things like blues and rock...this is really just good blues. listen to the harmonizing four doing "when they ring them golden bells." straight blues.
I think this is Jimmy Jones at his best. No one could sing this song like him. A TRUE bass in every sense of the word. This song makes you FEEL the struggles of our people in slavery and early Civil Rights.
My mother told me she remembers this group when she was growing up. The man singing bass was real. And sounded just as good if not better live and in person. I hope this vid stays around.
This Song.. Makes Me Think Of Slavery Times.. When The Slaves Sang Songs Of Freedom..

The only song that, every time I listen, reduces me to tears. Perhaps the most beautiful recording ever made.
Thank you, so much, for making this available!
