  • Here are some tips that help me (a fearful, though repeat doner):

    1) Take a friend. Going with someone helps me not chicken out.

    2) Ask them to cover up your arm with a cloth or something so you don't have to see it. Pinpricks are one thing, watching your blood drain out is another.

    3) Ask a nurse to sit down with you and talk (or talk with your friend). Distraction is key to not thinking about blood running down your arm (in a tube).

    4) Treat yourself later (maybe with a nice steak)!

  • These are great suggestions. Thank you so much!

  • I am really scared of needles. Do you have any advice for me

  • Yeah, needles are kinda scary. But our staff are AWESOME and extremely well-trained here at Stanford. They'll walk you through the process.

Plus, it helps if you focus on the good you're doing for another person. There's no substitute for blood, so you're really giving someone the gift of life.

AND YOU GET DELICIOUS COOKIES AND JUICE AFTER!

  • 那個是我的男朋友...我愛你寶貝! Estoy muy orgullosa de ti. :)

  • Wow, two languages in one post...!
