  • Chi è il genio? Who is the genie?

  • How do you program a scanner to do this? Is there some program that allows it to follow a MIDI file or what?

  • I think this is true ART.thanks.

    from Japan.

  • Шикарно!!! Аплодирую стоя!!!

  • Sends chills down my spine.

  • @ercarras more like sends shivers down your spine ;-)

  • Very clever, but there's a lot of syncing and missing note issues.

  • Not perfect, but amazingly well done all the same.

  • Comment removed

  • well done, but being a musician myself, its mildly irritating to hear the melody being ever so slightly off. i wouldnt be able to do any better, but thats my only gripe

  • @th3gentlegiant It's not just musicians that can tell the difference

  • Also, didn't Dexter have an invention like this?

  • They should just sell printers like this, all dismembered n set up. Who uses printers for printing these days anyway?!

  • @cronikproductions I think... everyone?

  • Can someone please tell me how I ended up here? This is awesome! This is SCANNERS!

  • Well you could just play the song with the Data Recorder, but that wouldn't be as cool.

  • Wow. Just wow.

  • Niceee!

  • Exelent

  • Music is everywhere ;D Amazing!!!

  • this sounds sad:(

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Stephen Hawking's recording studio

  • So Justin Bieber uses electronic devices, when she sings, and the outcome sucks...and electronic devices alone sound great... => Justin Bieber sucks

  • @playmannn

I don't understand why you brought up Justin Bieber in a discussion which is not related to him. Please do not do it again.

  • i used to be a printer before i got an arrow to the knee

  • @CavaFramboise Piss off you fail at life, thats old and was never funny to begin with, go suck a dick.

  • Very sick... I loved it

  • I can't stand the bad timing of everything.. other than that this is cool

  • is this a future genre mix of classic music and dubstep? :D

    dubssic :3

  • @SserpxProductions Why the hell are you talking about classic music?

  • @KawaiiSana because in the distant future, music today will be classics then :P

  • @SserpxProductions its old rock dude

    XD fail

  • You have Way too much time! But thank you for spending so much of it to make me smile, absolutely fantastic.

  • Sweet Atari 800xl... my first computer. Oh the memories of 300 baud and bbs...

  • This is a great display of virtuosic skill, but where is their musicality? They play like robots!

  • @pellypates … lol

  • Nice work man! Thumbs up!

  • the printer mum said "you can do anything you want! go spread your ink and make me proud" so i dont think this is what she had in mind.

  • Anybody who dislikes this video does not understand what is captured by this video.

Within this jumble of lights and noises, the maker is trying to communicate with us. Communicate the simplicity of music. Music is everywhere, and it doesn't take a huge understanding of how it works to appreciate it's message.

    Understanding sure helps, though.

But what does it mean? What does it mean to understand?

    "What" you say? no..

The question is: What say you?

  • One word.... EPIC!

  • It's amazing!

  • Like the old Eico 460 scope.I used to have one.

  • Nothing short of AMAZING.

  • This is amazing and all but it's also a bit offensive. Really emotional song kinda destroyed by the tone quality these machines make. Haha, still can't help but laugh at the genius of it though. Well done :P

  • @SirMosesWellington

Probably not. However, people will still appreciate the effort put into the video. Quite the technological masterpiece :)

  • So what's the equipment before it got turned to musical robots and what was it supposed to do?

  • I bet half of the people that commented on this have no idea what half this equipment is thats being used to do this.

  • @SirMosesWellington

watch out guys, computer hipster right here.

  • @DarkenIsGod I know right?

  • 1,750,000 Hits on YouTube - Priceless LOL

  • @MrGameboy1989- 2, 012 295 hits on youtube LOL haha:D

  • Possibly the best floppy drive/hardware orchestra on YouTube!

  • man shoot myselfnothinreally matters

  • maaaaaan you are genious!

  • Is just Perfect... :´)

  • A great tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen. Sadly, he's been gone for 20 years already. :(

  • I just tossed a perfect old HP Scanner with SCSI cards today... who knew!

  • did the machine just decide f**k it i'm bored lets make music

  • @MrMattygoods

I prefer to think that these machines perform only when their owner is asleep/out.

  • @elsewhereify The camera was in on it the entire time.

  • @elsewhereify kinda freaky when you think about it

  • @MaxQNick let's see you do it then.

  • I have the same TDS 210 oscilloscope!

  • @AddColorsToYourLife That Eico is more of an oscilloscope than the Tek will ever be.

  • This is by far the most valid justification for nerd-dom I know !

Very good work - creativity at its best !

    THX for uploading,

    palomino

  • The ending was classic. A nicely arranged cover overall despite technical limitations, and what a sight to behold.

  • Electrical engineers. Geeks of the world!

  • Uber geek

  • Is the Atari 8-bit in the band?

  • the scanner is like the terminator's violin

  • I've left the matrix... machines have taken over!

  • More!!!!

  • that is cool i wish i had one

  • reminds me of the turrets in Portal

  • ITS A VIRUS!!! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN U DONT DONT HAVE NORTON ANTI VIRUS...

  • That is simply incredible...

  • I just punched my printer for not being as cool.

  • @HowU4ADumbass lol :D

  • @HowU4ADumbass LOL WINNING i concur :)

  • meh. my printer did that one time

  • why would you dislike this seriously

  • keep up the good work :)

  • love it

  • lol! wacky! love it!

  • Man you have time!

  • This is so brilliant

  • I'm an old printer, nobody loves me...

  • @curlybrowss

That isn't printer it is scanner

  • @curlybrowss don't worry printer, we all love you... except when you go all douchebag on us and tell us you're out of ink

  • @curlybrowss awwww ... hugs ??? lmao ... u cheeky sod :P

  • @curlybrowss He's just a printer, with bad memory.

  • Awesome, must take some time to compose

  • Pretty good, I live in Toronto too

  • are you single?

  • Futurama! :)

  • OMG! :P Mega LIKE! Respekt. Good job! :D

  • beautiful

  • Hmm... after listening to this, my ankle got bruised.... from the brick that fell down my pant leg.

  • @Gevito236 Gotta watch out for those.

  • @Gevito236 wtf

  • Has anyone made music on multiple 8-bit computers playing in harmony? Like, a C64, Atari800, PC+Adlib, for example.. I guess it'd be close to impossible to sync them to play the same song. But you would get a good variety of sounds and channels..

  • Justin Bieber got discovered on Youtube. Where's this guy's cd?

  • the only thing i can say is, you are ingenious to come up with this. rally a big hit for the talent.

  • The scanner seems a little too eager...

    Cute...

  • The scanner steals the show everytime

  • If Freddy Mercury was still alive, I bet he would be proud of this..

  • Canadians... You gotta love 'em

  • how do u make the machines play the different pitch???

  • Душевно то как Лепра привет.

  • +1 for "through the fire and the flames" see how far these things can go >:) btw i love these videos, make my year every time i watch them

  • @freeridephil42 also would like to see/hear that!!

  • IDEA: Through the Fire and the Flames

  • Canadians have no time on their hands.

  • @loudandproud625 To be fair it's cold and the days are really short in the winter. It's not hard to have a lot of free time ;)

  • Record it!

  • Funny how old machines can sound better than Justin Bieber.

  • @Hallonjuden you sir/madame made my day

  • @Hallonjuden +1.21 gigawatts

  • @Hallonjuden even my grandmother sounds better than justin bieber -_-

  • @benja899

Better and more manly (no offense to your grandmother)

  • @rodsk8dude is not an offence ;)

  • @Hallonjuden u mean old machines whose pitch was made higher and lower and got the shit edited out of it.

  • @Hallonjuden and they were both made in Canada!

  • @Hallonjuden It's actually quite easy to sound better than Justin Bieber

  • House of the Rising Sun is better, but this is still darned good and had me chuckling loud enough to disturb the whole office. Just as well it was lunch time... ;)

    Well done. What's next? :)

  • It is out of tune in places, the timing wanders a bit, but..

    I FUCKEN LOVE IT!

  • shows you what you can do with old stuff and not just throw them out.

  • Woohoo! 8-bit Atari Power!

  • Those machines are obviously chinese made. They have no musical feel...

  • You have lots of freetime in those Canadian Winters, lol

    This is Really Awesome.

  • The only thing that hurts me a bit to see is the 8" floppy drive used like that; those things are hellishly rare and somewhat sought after for archiving old media these days.

    Otherwise, awesome video!

  • tempo is too fast but the whole project is still win

  • so good, queen made it one of their best hits

  • i thnk you need ot remake it useing the recording style you did with The House of the rising sun.

  • Amazing !!!!!

  • Thank you !

  • I still don't understand why scanners can make different sounds

  • @InfernalSatan It's the speed of the stepper motors. The faster you spin a stepper motor, the faster it's gears turn and the actual mechanism works. The motor spins around so fast that the air around it is manipulated and it creates a sound wave of various tones.

At least, that's how I'd think it'd work.

  • Melancholic indeed!

Watch this one too: /watch?v=Xxz630u7YlQ Manly tears were shed.

I seriously want to hug all of those old techs and promise them i'll keep 'em forever, no matter what!

  • Would pay to see this on stage.

  • esta padrisimo el video larga vida a queen

  • This is art. And this is FUCKIN' melancholic. Tears in my eyes.

Really nice man ! Thanks for sharing, it's unbelievable !

  • watch?v=nVHw_c4ek6c

  • Sounds like the real thing, only with a printer as the singer

  • That`s the way we explain our children the time before iPod & Co! Great job(s)!

  • sounds like the real thing on with a printer as the singer!

  • Awesome!

  • Sounds like the Phantasy Star games

  • I love Queen. I love old technology. I love oscilloscopes in my physics labs. this completes my life.

  • LIKE A BOSS!

  • Is this real life? Or is this just virtual reality?

  • this is retardedly entertaining

  • Wow... a result of a long winter?? :) Either way though - I love it!! :)

  • The floppy solo is awesome!!!

  • Is this real life? Is this just fantasy?

  • I used to live in toronto too until i got an arrow to the knee

  • cool i live in Toronto too

  • I don't care how much they hate us, the Canadians make some cool stuff.

  • old computers > nickelback

  • I just fell in love with a scanner.

  • 300 people are Bill Gates.

  • Brilliant!

  • I love it.

  • This is the electronic music, just like Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan's Song Of The Second Moon, 1957...

  • Sir, YOU ROCK!

  • 3:28 epic

  • I am in love with you. Just so you know.

  • so may memories, so awesome. love the ending with the HDD plate kick :) that's what hard drives were really built for.

  • *clap clap clap clap clap*

    Well done

  • ye t dot!

  • 480p is for squares.

  • i don't know why but this brought tears to my eyes *sniffles*

  • When robots and skynet take over the world, this will be the classic music of robots

  • Can you train my scanner to sing like Andrea Bocelli?

  • Well, that's it. Robots can play Queen music now, we might as well hand over the keys to everything and take the last train to the moon.

  • unreally beautiful. lovely. eerie. warming.

  • Your new video has the timeing right on that song... you should totally redo this song so that its timed right. Would be even more awesome
