you are correct, few peoples know that this acft had pass 2 X by FAA's certification and is one of the safest plane. many peolpe talking about things without corrects informations.
@kevintheartist We saw many DC-10 crash is because at that time, DC-10 are very popular and many of them were in service, so the chance of seeing them crash is also higher than other types of planes. The design of DC-10 basically was sound and safe
By the way , no need to afraid of that because most of the DC-10 nowadays had already change into cargo planes! ^^
DC 10 planes are flying graveyards to some people. I mean ive never been on one but i hear that their not very safe indeed. Turbulence is bad on a DC 10 according to passengers at least.
Affects on an aicraft caused by turbulance in the air are only relative to the planes mass and aerodynamics - so any other planes this size and shape (tristar, 767, ect) are affected just the same in turbulance.
i remember onc e,we were taking off from lax 2 new york we have 2 come back cause the b727 had engine problem,we chang plane guess what,it was the DC 10 every one was quite but,as soon we landed NY every one claps, the passanger next 2 me was, checking the engine during all flight, those were the days when DC 10 had engine problems!
The answer to why the door blew off is that THEY WERE MADE AT HINDUSTAN AERONAUTICS LIMITED, an Indian govt, firm and we know quite well that Indians are cheap jackasses
"Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one."
Mc donald Douglas where shear greedy, putting something as common as money first instead of the lives of passengers. They should put safety on top of the list all the time. Most shocking of all is they new about it from the beginning and never even bothered to change it. Thank god they went out of business in 1996, shocking thing is I flew on a DC-10, I believe the last passenger one still flying owned by my travel
The jet fuel was heated into a fuel-air mix by the Air Conditioning units under the center fuel tank. Then as the plane climbed, a faulty wire in the fuel probe caused a short circuit, which ignited the fuel vapor which exploded and killed about 230 people.
A missile destroyed it and Clinton made sure it was covered up under the guise of National Security! Now we have a huge terror war simply because Clinton refused to deal with the problem and just focus on re-election. It was an election year...TWA800....
Both of our theories could have brought TWA 800 down, we will never know. I think that a center fuel tank explosion brought it down, and you think that a missile brought it down. I'm fine with what you think, but I think it was a center fuel tank explosion. People have different views about the world you know!
Well I saw it on the news the witnesses who saw it, from over 6000 miles away the other side of the world. The next day the 'Government' said it was not a missile. 2+2=4.......
I remember this... the captain was Bryce McCormick I think. I remember an old documentary about 12 years ago, where he described the incident, saying they don't ever get everything clean after building a jet, but give it one good depresserization and it will.... and it was before the Turkish crash I believe...

I wouldn't step foot on a DC-10.
Read the book "Rise and fall of the DC-10"

Is that what caused the explosion of TWA800?
jpg0572 3 years ago
TWA 800 is a 747 not a DC-10 they are made by two totally different companies.
Rjnicko 3 years ago
TWA flight 800 went down because of a center fuel tank explosion.
ChrisWasHere747 3 years ago
How did that happen?
jpg0572 3 years ago
The jet fuel was heated into a fuel-air mix by the Air Conditioning units under the center fuel tank. Then as the plane climbed, a faulty wire in the fuel probe caused a short circuit, which ignited the fuel vapor which exploded and killed about 230 people.
