these guys have the magic that good kind that touches a lot of people and not every band or group posses this spritual arrangement thanks for the love every body should experience the Bar-Kays. and thats my truth.
Man i remember this album when i was in basic training at Ft Leonard Wood Mo. I bought it with the first pay i recevied. The drill sargeant caught me playing it in the barracks and he took it from me. Wow brings back a lot of memoirs.
I love the Barkays and I want to agree with @Ronpc its really a disservice to not be able to listen to OLDSCHOOL unless you listen just strictly to that Radio Station . I dont buy new unless its JILL Scott,Teena Marie a lot of Rap no substance and lots of the new R&B sound the same.OLD SCHOOL/SMOOTH JAZZ for me .
This band, one of my favs (including Wynton Marsalis as I HEARD him say it in an interview once) YES, that Wynton Marsalis. Anyway, these guys NEVER got the credit they deserved and it's a shame! FANTASTIC band and between ( yes I know about the STAX years and the albums released in the 90's and 2000's) but for ME between 1977 and 1990 they destroyed ANY funk band that TRIED to be as good as they were. And NO Grammy's. WOW!
When you get ten musicians together, like James Alexander, Charles Allen, Michael Beard, Mark Bynum, Larry Dodson, Sherman Guy, Harvey Henderson, Winston Stewart, Lloyd Smith, and Frank Thompson, you have the funkiest band coming out of Memphis, Tennessee known as the BAR-KAYS.
Hey no problem and thanks for the kind words, the record companies just don't get it, to them music is all about money, to us it's a part of our life. I just want to say I was living the best years of my young life during this era and im sure you have great memories also. Artist of today just don't get it, thats why they won't play this music on main stream radio because the music business will not be able to sell some of the garbage thats out today, Peace.
This takes me back to my high school days when I was just a young man and as I look back on all those years im just remembering those house parties, town hall parties and bbq's in the park. Summertimes was beautiful at night and time just seemed to go by longer. I remember when radio played all the jams. The world was a better place during this era, now you have only two bands EWF and Mint Condition. People are to greedy to form groups today not realizing strength is in numbers. God Bless.
I remember this album from way back cause my mom used to have it when I was young. There's two more song from this album that I want to post and that is the song "Nightcruising" and "Touch Tone."
@c2e2ky Just the power of live music made you fill it when you went home back in the day after a concert you said yea thats it thats what im talking about.
