It does not work for me. The only thing I can see on my display is a white stripe. But when I diable cooling and remove cooler than when the card starts overheating itself I can see picture how it has to be but just for few seconds before its cook it self and turn off.
@85Damix Bake it. instructions on removal: /watch?v=TD6WDt-goiU the computer in the tutorial has the same chassis, except it's 15" instead of 17. 1.Set oven to 400 degrees. 2.PREHEAT ALL THE WAY!!! 3.Put card on cookie sheet (not metal pan, otherwise it will be stuck lol! 4.Leave it in there for 10 minutes. 5.Let cool on sheet still on counter, preferably for an hour or more. 6.Reinsert. 7.Startup and install I8kfanGUI, set to run fans full speed. 8.WEEEEE- [bzzt!]
I was literally about to throw my old Inspiron 9600 out, when I did one last google on this frustrating broken Nvidia GPU problem (green lines displayed on screen immediately on bootup, almost unusable) when I found this and other YouTube videos on cooking the card, and am amazed to say it does work! Give it a try people and breathe some new life into your Dell as Dell and Nvidia refuse to help out and admit this model we own actually has this problem (I found out after a long fight with them!)
Anybody have applied the "oven fix" (baking video card in oven)? I found a lot of videos in Youtube that claims it works wonders for overheated video cards.
Dell = SHIT, but also on board sound and audio chips are bad bc when then fail you lose the whole board. You had a video connection fry you system all the software is fine but one bs hardware and POOF n crash. Best advice screw dell build yourself a computer and if you can't buy an HP!!
After re-viewing the video it is determined to be VIDEO RAM on the video card. 2 solutions:
1 - If is is a separate video card replace under warranty.
2 - if is an internal card. you might be able to reheat/reflow the solder balls under the video ram with a 700 degree heat gun 4 inches from the chip in a circular motion for about 1-2 min. DO NOT NUDGE ANY PARTS - Mask off other components so they do not get heated as hot. Let cool and test again
ooooh LOL !!! you pwned him good ! This goes to smartiemnx this fail has nothing to do with the system or the os the os is on the harddrive and this is only the video card so lol u sound like a mac user stupid as fuck
its because its a branded computer.. custom built computers don't have these type of issues :p. .and if they do u can resolve them fairly easily, branded computers put limitations, so that u dont try to do repairs yourself..
I have a Dell Pre4cision M90 also and the video card is hooped. Only 1 month after the warrantee expired and I called Dell to send another video card and they sent the card for a desk top unit insyead of the laptop. They will not return my calls and take the wrong card back or exchange for the correct card. Dell is BAD BAD BAD! I will never support or buy from Dell again. Screw them all!
then it seems it may be the inverter. After a capacitor discharges, it lights back up. Then when it charges again, it never discharges while on. An inverter should only run about $18-29 on eBay.
you can also remove the ram, and using an inkpen eraser, erase the oxidation off the gold finger contacts.
If the video card is separate (removable) you can use a cotton swab with WD40 and clean the contact, leave a light coat on the video card contacts. (or you can buy the $7.95 contact cleaner)
Can anyone help me?I have a Dell Inspiron 700m.Few years old, then one day when I shut it down and started it back up,after a few seconds, usually during the Windows loading screen, the screen turns dim,but not so you can't see at least some of it if you concentrate hard enough.I hooked it up to a monitor and the screen is fine, however I'll be using the monitor for my desktop soon once I reprogram Windows on it.Can anyone help me find out what's wrong with my Laptop? Thanks!
When the backlight goes out, you can see the Windows logo faintly on the darkened screen.
Each brand have their own particular faults and defects. Many people blame the company that sticker is on the outside. But it lies with the manufacturer. You can get a DELL, ACER, or HP made by Hann-Star. And they are the culprit. Not the company (even though they should end their business with them)
I agree, it seems like your video card in it took a nasty shit. Never buy a Dell laptop anyways, they are crap. And always make sure they have proper ventilation. I've seen many people buy laptops and they have no fans lol.
ive a dell inspiron 530..brand new..i was playing sim city4 on it and i tried putting in cheats in it..i pressed the CTRL and ALT at the same time and movin the arowwes keys..the screnn rotated...so i got tat fixed and when i did half the screen was black...so wat wud i do..im fucked
wen i had this problem all i did was do a run then regedit and did some explorer.exe thing and it fixed...my problem now is an annoying blinking underscore...
and if it where you screen it would be constant,,,but you screen can only do what the video card tells it too.i have seen videos where people will burn video cards from heat and it looks exactly identical to what you have untill the computer fails...but hey thats just one mans opoin,
hay can sum1 help me on my dell inspiron 6000 latop when i turn it on it loads for a second then this black screen comes up saying " loading PBR 2....done" and then sits there forever and doesnt channge iv trying looking it up on the internet but not much stuff on it can some1 help me even the small things might help
I had that problem. It was bad video memory. When you boot, hit F12 to go into the Dell Diagnostics program and let it scan your whole system.. Mine said my video memory was bad, I got a new video card on ebay, and now everything works!
Did you get it fixed properly in the end and if so did they explain in any depth what was the problem? also if anyone who watchs this vid with the same problem and knows a solution could you write up a fix please. it would suck to buy a 7950gtx for myne just to have it all go wrong again. sorry for writing so much on your video page its the only place i found with the exact same problem i got.
i have ordered a 150w 3pin psu for my machine and a new motherboard (a m90 one) in hopes to get it going. im pretty sure my graphics card is fried but got the mother board to play it safe and also get the dock port aswell(got new bottom plastics too) my machine went funny while i am here in domincan republic were it is like 32C so i thought it was overheating untill i read about the earthing problems with these machines.now i duno whats wrong! i have no warranty.
Hi, i got a dell 9400 which is pretty much the same system and this same problem happened to me, it started with the speckles on the screen then any 3d program would cause the machine to kill over. then it wouldnt boot with the hardware enabled graphic driver so instead of using vga driver and screen jittering i used linux's vga drivers (ubuntu) finally that began to snow too. it got worse and worse, i heared it may be from my unearthed psu but u have a 3 prong one and its happened to you too.
I've tried that too.The guys at the Escalation Department are just sitting on their butts looking for excuses on why not to work. The guy handling my case apparently works only 3 days a week(I want his job)!.They're looking for excuses on why NOT to exchange it.If I ask to speak to their boss, they come up with new excuses every single time. It's been over a month now and not a single thing has been resolved. I guess it was my biggest mistake to even THINK of buying a Dell, let alone getting one.
They've tried fixing it more than once.Got this in April 2007.Logged my first Tech Support call in August. Since then, they've replaced the following:
Motherboard - 3,Graphics Card - 2/3(because one of the cards sent was DOA), LCD - 3, HDD - 1, Chassis - 1, LCD Frame - 1, Adapter - 2, Battery - 1, Bluetooth - 1 and maybe a few more things too that I don't remember at the moment. The system works after being fixed for about 4-10 days and fails again.
It does not work for me. The only thing I can see on my display is a white stripe. But when I diable cooling and remove cooler than when the card starts overheating itself I can see picture how it has to be but just for few seconds before its cook it self and turn off.
Is there any other way hoe to fix it ?

Your inverter went out. It is on the bottom of the screen behind the bezel
Kegtapper 2 years ago 2
So how much does it cost to repair/replace it?I'm thinking I'll just throw it away and use a different computer instead.
TheWizard134 2 years ago
It might also be the backlight. They usually go out first before the inverter does
