I am currrently studying for my CSCS. Watching Marks videos definitely helps understand the bio mechanics of lifting in relation to what I have learned. The NSCA should compliment the Essenitals of Strength Training and Conditioning with Marks Videos. I love the videos. Thanks for posting them!

Isn't biodynamics the study of farming food systems like crop rotations? Sounds like something a "good looking trainer" would say. I think you mean biomechanics.
Not all trainers are morons who can't teach and just good looking. That's like stereotyping cops are fat and out of shape. As a consumer for personal training or strength and conditioning it is the responsibility of the buyer to research the trainer. You wouldn't go to any dealership to purchase a car without doing your homework first.
Titan unfortunately in a lot of cases ur statement is correct. But, I did take my profession as a trainer seriously and educated myself as much as possible. I also surrounded myself with people that in certain areas had/have more knowledge than I did. It's important for people looking for a trainer to see what education, training or experience they have.
Ive learned more from his 5 min vids than from a 60 min session from some douche bag gym trainer! This guys great even though in every vid hes playing pocket pool :p lol
@cerealxxkiller Most gym trainers are people who just quit their job at burger king. Being a trainer at a gym is about having a good looking physique, not about being knowledgeable.
Brilliant stuff...I've been doing a lot of looking around for good information about the deadlift, and Mark Rippetoe is so well respected. This is a gold mine.
@bangbongbong It's important to understand though when you're adjusting your form, because the deadlift is such an important lift to use good form on.
@Defrath Since making that comment I have bought starting strength and in it he states that the lats pull the arms back at the beginning of the deadlift and that is why it doesn't hang directly underneath the glenohumeral joint.
This video is weird because it seems like he is stating that it's a mystery as to why the weight hangs under the scapula instead of under the shoulder joint.
If you take a chain and nail it into your shoulder, it sure as hell won't hang directly under your scapula.
hey all... i missed it - what is the reason power lifters have "a lot bigger traps than" oly lifters? Is it because power lifters are deadlifting heavier loads? Or does it have to do with the mechanics of each deadlift style? (they are slightly different, right?)

This doesn't make any sense. Arm angle is determined by gravity and where your arms are hooked to your body. AKA straight down.

@stratsb21 Because powerlifters spend more time lifting. Greater time under tension = more sacromer hypertrophy.
