They probably changed the lyrics because the kids didn't realize the true meaning of the song. That's why I like this version more. The original is meaningful when you watch the whole movie, where you can see why he's actually singing it. Without the context of the full episode, I think it's better to stick with this one.

I wish the original was on the VeggieTales Silly Songs CD. They only have the "New and Improved" one. I see that they don't want kids to sing about not going to school and being disobedient, but there's nothing wrong with having a villain song. My friends and I would sing Be Prepared from The Lion King, doesn't mean we're plotting a murder or going bad, doesn't mean we want Scar to win, just means it's a great villain song.

So how many versions of this song are out there now? like 15 or something? I understand the changes but I don't feel like there was ever anything wrong with the original. It fit right into the spirit of the story. It was SUPPOSED to be bad. That's why it was wrong for the three guys to bow down and sing. sad. So very sad.

@codachrome123 If I remember correctly, this song came after Mr. Nezzer saw the error of his ways and had decided to change. This song is in no way new (Check out the old animation style.); it's just a different version of the classic we remember.

@codachrome123 They made a "good version" of it because they realised the the children were singing the bad song and they felt it wasn't getting the message across. So they created this one so that this would be the one that children would sing. That was what the creators said on the dvd. So that's why there are two versions. The bad version which you are not supposed to sing and the good one you are supposed as they say

The original total vanity version, the revised one when people got pissed off (replaced hating parents, skipping church, and some other stuff for being too rebellious), and then there's this one. This one's a complete re-write that they promoted to teach kids why the original was wrong. The second one I can't find anywhere and lots of people don't know it because they just swapped it for the original scene in the retail copies, no promotion.

And this is version three. Notice how the first one disses mom, dad, church, and school. The second version replaces those lines with beans, tofu, soup and bread. I guess that wasn't good enough so this third version completely turns the message around.
