  • Simply marvelous!! George is a virtuoso, besides and although im straight i think he is just like his music: Beautiful...

  • beautiful liv tyler.. .amazing george michael.

  • I swear some of George's songs are so sexy, I need a condom on my ear just listenin' to 'em. Who's with me?

  • I make no apologies for thinking this one of the best pop songs ever made. Seriously, why wasn't this a huge hit? It's the best thing he's ever written.

  • Is it the real video or is it a movie?

  • @DJdarkalbino It's a film called the stealing beauty by Bertolucci. A masterpiece!

  • My version sounds more plausible!!!

  • thats complete bullshit that a man that is passionite and feels he wants to make love to a woman like this video portrays ...gets rejected like he's doing something wrong..he didn'ty force her to lay down and make out...but she sure as hell made him feel like he was wrong to make love to her..and want her..

  • This song is all about a Zookeeper who became a plastic surgeon and then a serial killer and in later life a cowboy. Great.

  • luv this song....the vocals n instruments seem to blend...

  • Seamingless connection between two sides of a love gone south. The broken heart and the heartbreaker. Regardless of sexual orientation, love is the same all around. And bad love as well.

  • Not a big George Michael fan but just seen him perform this tune in the Royal Albert Hall live and wow completly blown away ....by far the best live tune i have heard....brilliant

  • Music (chord structure) is awsome. I'd want to change the words for us straights.

  • slickness!!!!

  • This was, is and will forever be a moving masterpiece.

  • george you stupid greek, you are the best! (from a stupid turk :-))

  • @bsmurrie Well, i can understand the stupid thing alright!

  • A troubled soul, perhaps, but what a songwriter...! His music goes straight to your heart... That's what makes George Michael so outstanding. The man is underrated.

  • 9th cloud...Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighs!

  • I wish I had the patience to do video...I'd love to put this track to scenes from a classic 60's movie like the (original) "Thomas Crown Affair" with Steve McQueen. This song just has a very vintage feel to it.

  • Gentlemen, what is the movie called ? I have to see it.

  • Stealing Beauty...YES, a must see...If only for LIV alone! It's not a movie for everyone but it's fuckin' deep if you've ever tasted a bite of what Love is.

  • The video to this song really doesn't do it justice.

  • The solo at 5:46 is just magical. Such a wonderful song. Thanks GM.

  • The solo at 5:46 is really beautiful. GM is so talented.

  • Listen Without Prejudice and Faith are masterpieces. I'm a real cowboy.

  • This song is dreamy. It floats down the river and takes you with it.

  • I finally found it!!! I listened it in the radio some 20 years ago in Mexico, didn't know the name, but I knew it was GM, finally I found it!! This is the most romantic song ever!

  • papa........ nicole

  • Ear orgasm... <3

  • I'd forgotten just how good this song is.

  • gewoon prachtig........... niek

  • One of the best songs of the 90s. Beautiful piece of writing, performed from the heart.

  • Absolutly Brilliant song and poetry .

    love it

  • isn't that LIv tyler?? in the video?/

  • @911chrystal Yes she is.

  • isn't that LIv tyler??

  • gorgeous song !

  • best music, best movie...everyone looked this movie, please!!! stealing beauty by Bernardo Bertolucci...

  • Amazing video and excellent song !

  • The movie is "stealing beauty" a film the bernardo bertolucci (1996)

  • Would anyone tell me what is the name of this movie? Thanks.

  • Sometimes love is not enough, especially when there is a truth hidden. It hard enough to love as is without having to cover it with a lie. Why can't we just love and let the rest be? May then the love triangle that George Michael's sings about wouldn't have to be and a heart not broken.

  • no one's noticed that the actress is Liv Tyler? quit the gay talk. gees, big deal.

  • no one's noticed that the actress is Liv Tyler? quit the gay talk. gees, big deal.

  • @jiangyingzi Thank you for making that statement! It seems that Ambitious Visionary was a bit too ambitious and erroneous in her statements b/c she didn't do her homework before making such accusations.

  • Sad to think that this album may never be fully appreciated.

  • @MyceliaProductions42 "Listen Without Prejudice" spent 34 weeks in the top 20 album chart in the UK, had five hit singles and won the best album award '91 - just cos the dumb hicks in the US didn't buy it, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't appreciate it :)

  • @psammiad Yeah, I'm one of those dumb hicks...hehe. But, yeah, I always seemed to have the same tastes as those overseas (being an early drum & bass fan, the UK is the home for that, for example). I'm not surprised this great album was MUCH better appreciated over there.

  • that beautiful face of yours...

liv tyler's face is more than just beauty...

    super song..

  • this song reminds me of a summer day...

  • What a song!!! Reminds me of my teenage years... I always loved that bass!!

  • Wow!!! I've been looking for this song forever!!! Thanks uploader!! Btw that girl looks like that James Bond girl in For your eyes only!!

  • @BeigeFunk It's Liv Tyler, Steven Tyler's daughter (Steven Tyler as in lead singer for Aerosmith). She's played in videos her dad performed like Crazy and Don't Wanna Miss a Thing; the latter she starred in the movie it was written for Armageddon as Harry Stamper's (Bruce Willis) daughter Grace who was also girlfriend to A.J. (Ben Affleck) who worked for Harry on Harry's offshore oil rig crew. She also played in a few of the Lord of the Rings movies but they couldn't hold my attention.

  • wow this sounds like the Marcus miller song used in the movie boomerang,,,,,,,,,,,never knew this existed nice tune

  • I love this :)

  • Well, we've all been there, haven't we? Dreamy and bittersweet but ending with that grace note of hope -- "the future may still give you a chance..." -- just perfection. Making it a waltz and having Andy Hamilton improvise that sax solo was truly inspired.

  • This would make a great video for Brokeback Mountain.

  • Sometimes a song's value is to hilight personal experience. For me, this song talks about something I am going through now, where I fell in love with a girl who is holding herself back from intimacy. It reverberates back to me. Hard to progress in love when someone is blocking deeper connections. Frustrating and heartbreaking - how long can I wait? Know she cares about me, but not yet ready for a deep relationship - might be enough to lose this. I'll always be wounded by my love for her...

  • @jeffteach I feel somewhat sad that I didn't find your post until just now; hwr, I hope the advice I leave w/you helps in some way. Relationships are difficult to begin; adding intimacy too soon is relationship suicide. Ingredients for a healthy relationship includes communication, respect, trust, compromise, & love, to name a few. I believe you love this girl & b/c I believe this, I hope you can find a way to respect her wishes. Once she's ready for the next step, you'll find it worth the wait.

  • @PaisleyPlace - Wise words. Time has passed, things have changed. She moved away, out of the country, but we have stayed in close touch. Absence has amplified what we had, even made it more romantic for us. One day she found an apartment here from afar she loved, but it was taken. Heartbroken, she felt like she missed the perfect place back here, hopeless & sad. Yet I knew Destiny would provide & told her so. Sure enough, the other people defaulted & she was offered it. Amazing Universe!

  • @jeffteach I'm so happy for you both. I'm sending warm wishes of hope your way. And you're right, no matter what, Destiny will have her way in the end no matter how hard you fight against it.

FYI: I moved to another state & never planned to move back anywhere near the area we live now but after a week-long vacation w/friend where DH was there, it was less than a year b4 we came to the conclusion it was worth giving it a try; 5yrs l8r, we married; 20+yrs still married & happier than imagined.

  • @jeffteach The 5-yr wait was my idea/choice b/c I'd been burned before; plus, I had a lil' brother to raise too so it wasn't just my heart on the line. I wanted to make sure it was real & lasting b4 investing my heart then his too b/c if it'd fell apart, more than 2 hearts would have broken, if you know what I mean. It was worth the wait & gave us time to get to know each other. I believe it's a large part of the success of our marriage, esp w/high divorce rate among others we knew.Best wishes!

  • Is this original video spot or some mowie scenes??

  • excellent song

  • @jiangyingzi Anyone that talks or thinks of "gender dynamics" has never experienced and can not understand a relationship between two people that can transcend the earthly bonds of existence. They only see a man and a woman as parts with no understanding of the souls. They are not comfortable with their own gender nor appreciate or recognize the other gender as equal but different.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary You've totally mis-read menopause/post-menopause. It's not a matter of leaving sex behind as it's a choice. It's not a choice. It's all hormonal. Plus, the gender gap plays a role too. I didn't grow up in the free-love era but my generation was highly sexually active w/regards to premarital sex. Inhibitions didn't exist; hwr, I've been in early-onset menopause & can't take HRT b/c of cysts that can lead to breast cancer. HRTs trigger the desire vs take/leave it,often leave it

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Your grandmother's lack of wanting sex is partly due to her upbringing & the inhibitions regarding sex in general as well as the onset of menopause. B4 I had to give up the HRT med, I had a healthy sex life; hwr, when the cysts began showing up & I had to stop the HRTs b/c estrogen causes breast cancer to spread & cysts to grow faster & multiply, I lost my sex drive. Now, I can take it or leave it & often just leave it, which I hate b/c it causes problems w/ DH of 20+yrs.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary You're full of it. Not all sex is based in lust. In fact, when discussing lust and sex, it's almost always a dysfunctional sexual relationship not a healthy one. FYI: Science proves when a woman goes through natural menopause or even surgically-induced menopause there is a tremendous drop in estrogen levels, which DO LEAD TO THE LACK OF DESIRE FOR SEX! It's the same for men as they age & the production of testosterone levels decrease they lose interest in sex.Do ur homework!

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Go to college then major in abnormal psychology. Rape isn't about the sex. It's a control factor and often (99.9%) associated with a man's impotence and anger. It has nothing to do with his "getting off." It is also deeply rooted in those who grew up in an extremely dysfunctional home where abuse was present so the rape itself is the man taking his anger, fears, and inability to perform out with a woman; they tend to go after women of authority/power; it's not about the sex.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary What seems to piss you off more: the fact I am a woman or the fact I'm a woman w/a brain as well as an opinion & have no qualms about making that opinion known? Or, it is the fact I've raised 2 daughters who are equally as opinionated & refuse to be submissives of a boy/man? Women are no longer chattel. We are ARE EQUALS! Men do not wear the pants solo in most homes these days & it's about damn time. Women are as intelligent & work equally as hard as men.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Report yourself for your high level of arrogance along w/your obvious fear of a woman who happens to hold a higher position in the workplace, better grades in school, or have a higher intellect than you have, which includes an overwhelming number of women. Your fear of women w/higher intellect, higher pay grades, higher positions of authority, and those w/brains & use it is downright funny esp since you admit it in so many words. Get psychological help for your fear of women.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary What ever you have to tell yourself in order to look in a mirror each day... You claim one thing yet your words betray you. It's not difficult to figure out that you hold a grudge against women w/DHs who treat them as equals in ALL THINGS, a college education as well as contd education in other fields, & the opportunity to get started in the dream career of a lifetime, which doesn't feel like work at all on top of living in an affluent city w/great people & excellent schools!

  • @PaisleyPlace Your swimming so far off my original comment, I can't even make any sense of your comments. My original comment was, "Why do men feel the need to force women to overcome their choice to not have sex?" and I will add, if they don't want sex, the male labels her bitter? Which is what this video is about, a woman overcoming issues concerning sex. There are many reasons a woman may not want sex, and none of them has anything to do with bitterness.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary To have sex or not to have sex often has nothing to do w/bitterness for women. It's choice and timing. Bitterness doesn't fall into the equation for ALL women. Hell, I was not saint when I got married & neither was my DH. He knew it; I knew it; and it's a non-issue. Over the yrs, I've turned lots of guys down over the yrs b4 marriage & after. You seem to think all women are prudes. LOL! Don't expect a woman to just jump in the sack unless you've hired a sex escort.

  • @PaisleyPlace I would debate that women have sex in a narrative story, and men have sex in a visual fantasy. Both are having sex in fantasy, and so when the fantasy is gone, so is the sex. Not all women experience bitterness, and not all women not having sex are bitter. If society would actually understand the vagina is introvert and the penis is extrovert, we would understand we don't SEE sex the same. That is from my 20 years of research on the sex of humanity, gay or straight.

  • @PaisleyPlace not true anymore about rape being about power and control. Check your inbox for some recent studies on the subject.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary How can you possibly think it's rude to tell a woman there are changes happening in her body that are decreasing her sex drive? I call it prudent planning & being honest. As women get older & hit peri to full menopause need answers & those answers are not rude; those answers give explanations as to what is happening & how to help, if possible. You sound as if you'd rather doctors lie to female patients. That's sick! Women need information on menopause, natural or surgical.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary I have read a book. How about you go to college & take some classes on psychology as well as the human body, with particular attention to how hormones affect the body. You will learn a hell of a lot more in college than you will ever learn in high school.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Obviously you haven't attended a decent college with a great medical program where you can earn any number of degrees including medical doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, and specialists in both female anatomy and male anatomy not to mention degrees in psychology & psychiatry. FYI, I can only imagine you writing comic books. Besides, there's always specialists who deal strictly w/male sexual dysfunction incl lack of motility when couples try to conceive a child.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary I highly doubt you wrote a book on the "blueprint" of human nature. I've seen books on human nature - there were thousands upon thousands in the college campuses medical library often referred to as the "Stacks." So even if you did write a book, I assure you that you likely plagiarized your writings or you didn't write at all. The Stacks in the medical library where I attended college was almost never-ending. Books on every part of the human body/mind R avail 2 all students!

  • @AmbitiousVisionary I spent yrs doing research & reading as many books as I could find. It was a major boost in my grade school yrs then when entering college, it wasn't as difficult as it was for others; hwr, I thoroughly enjoy research work so naturally, I gravitated toward jobs w/research req'd positions even if it was in-house, telecommute, or as it is today, freelance writing as well as a fictional novelist. A bit of creative writing is good for every1, esp keeping a journal; I do each day.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Btw, if you remove the fantasy, you're left with the reality. And, contrary to your belief, the reality will last a lot longer than a fantasy. Fantasies never last; reality at least has a shot. And, don't think that men are the only ones who instigate sex. I was raised w/o the inhibitions that many generations of the past hold tight to so for me, sex was simply sex until the right man came along sex took on a whole new meaning: the sharing of mind, body, heart, & soul.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Just because a person believes another to be "hot" doesn't necessarily instigate sex.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Having been married for more than 20yrs not to mention my college background & education in medicine, I probably know more about the male anatomy than U. Most men often wake w/an erection tho it has nothing to do w/sex or fantasy dreams. This is referred to as NPT (nocturnal penile tumescence) & most specialists conclude that these erections, which btw are more than while in a waking state & aroused, is nothing more than a prevention of bed-wetting starting w/potty-training!

  • @AmbitiousVisionary I NEVER SAID MEN HAD TO HAVE SEX! That was YOUR IDEOLOGICAL MANNER OF THINKING! I plainly said that a man doesn't HAVE TO HAVE SEX NOR DO WOMEN! I said that men can live without it just as women can live without it. I also said that men nor women NEED TO HAVE A FANTASY IDEA IN THEIR BRAIN IN ORDER TO HAVE SEX! If you love someone, truly love them, there's no need for the illusion of someone else or having sex elsewhere. That was all YOUR CRAP & YES, IT'S CRAP!

  • @AmbitiousVisionary cont'd: You WONDER HOW I KNOW ABOUT MEN? It's called marriage to the same man for 20+yrs raising a younger brother along w/2 kids of our own not to mention the fact you can't throw a pebble w/o hitting someone in this family who works in the medical field: starting w/MDs thro CNAs & many in between. I've spent 10+yrs working for a large teaching hospital w/primary accts in Level I Trauma Ctr. Studied acct'g, business, & med in college; learned herbal medicine b4 I was 14yo.

  • @AmbitiousVisionary Women aren't "poor little creatures," that you make them out to be. Women are just as aggressive in going after what they want as men. Women & men are on a much more level playing field in these times than they were in generations before. As much as u deny it, in your grandmother's day, premarital sex was a sin, going out w/o a chaperone was unseemly & brought about gossip of a woman being a "charlatan," which is total horseshit. Women can window shop & even sample these days

  • Regardless of the story behind the song and what it means, meant or was to have been a message to whoever....it is just a masterpiece of music... close your eyes and listen the phrases.. the interjection of each instrument just so sublime... I forget everything for 7+ minutes when this is on.... just incredible....

  • @jiangyingzi - The video depicts a woman sexually hurt by men, did I misunderstand? We see it when she puts her hands between her knees.

  • Good . no Excellent music. What is the vidio trying to say/?

  • Great song by George. One of my favorites.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmbitiousVisionary You're lack of faith in women is unbelievable. You come off thinking that all women will commit suicide or something if a man tells a woman there's no relationship and it was just sex. I believe women are smarter than that & they can handle it. In addition, I think many women actually prefer the one-night stands to a relationship that could ultimately take away their individuality. It's why we date often until finding that special one; men r looking for someone special too.

  • this song really is a discussion about his coming to terms with his homosexuality.

  • @somewhatlongdong if it is about his homosexuality why is a woman the main character? who is kissing a man?

  • Only one man can truly take the Michale Jackson mantle after his death.

And here he is - with one of the most fascinating tracks ever released in music history.

  • @zander469 Your assertion is absurd.

  • This song is full of memories for me, good times.

  • Missfunky003 says it all about this dreamy song.

  • beautiful song,, beautiful girl,

  • genius!!!!!!

  • this song in the end is about george's lvoe for a man. he end up loving a man not a woman. listen to the lyrics carefully. parts and bits of the song " im not the boy for you".... "maybe his hands will help you forget"

  • The second part is about his relationship with Kathy and how she loved him but he couldn't gave her what she wanted (You can call it love but I don't think it's true, you should know by now I'm not the boy for you). Listen carefully to the lyrics and you'll understand. Actually George always said that most of his songs are autobiographical, so I guess this one is the perfect example. I consider this song as an absolute masterpiece that will never get the credit it deserves!!!

  • @missfunky003...Very well said in the perfect words also. I've loved this song for many year's and love the story and the context it's delivered in. I'll always love this song...<3

  • @missfunky003 i agree. this song is magical. i used to listen to it when i was Uni back in 1991 after i'd broken up with my ex girl.

  • @missfunky003

I agree totaly with your last statement!

  • I totally agree with you in that this song is a masterpiece that will never get the credit it deserves!

  • @missfunky003 Quote: (You can call it love but I don't think it's true etc..) End. I don't think the lyrics are literal. It's my opinion he's (GM) saying I do love u; hwr, it's not enough. We know GM is gay & contrary to "some" beliefs, it's NOT A CHOICE. It is what it is & he can't change how he feels & shouldn't have to change. I believe he's saying he loves her; hwr, this relationship is doomed from jump b/c he's not attracted to women & IMHO, that's ok... cont'd (1 of 2)

  • @missfunky003 Cont'd (2 of 2): I think it's a lot like the movie, In The Gloaming. Glenn Close plays the mom Janet, Goldberg is her son's Hospice nurse. As Janet (Close) & son Danny (R.S. Leonard) are sitting outside @ time of the "gloaming" she asks if he "had loved & was loved in return." Danny replies he had. It's all Janet needed to hear; she takes his hand in her own & pats it gently softly saying to him, "good, that's good." The dad disowns son until he's gone & lost x w/son 2 know him.

  • @missfunky003 If you can find the movie, it's well worth the watch. I really didn't give any spoilers b/c it quite obvious that father's disowned him b/c son is gay then son comes home 2 die after Aids is killing him & has little x left. It's sad, funny, poignant, shows the sheer bigotry of parents who disown their kids b/c they can't change how they feel; then the regret of finally understanding & the knowing U can't go back 2 make it right. The mom's ? about love is my favorite part of the film

  • @missfunky003

I agree miss funky. Its one of the most sophisticated, well structured songs of the 90's and not enough people realize it.

  • This song is pure poetry - so beautifully written and sung! It's about a love triangle George was in with Kathy Jeung (his girlfriend at that time) and another man. In the first part of the song he sings about his deep feelings for that man ( All you do is love and love is all you do, I should know by now the way I fought for you)

  • This is my favorite song by George Michael. The music and his voice and the words, are so subtle, eloquent, mysterious, nostalgic, all of it spilling out like water on soft blue memories and black & white mindscapes -one can never get enough..

The change at the end ..'please be stronger than your past, the future may still give you a chance...' brings us to wonder what peace is like ..and what peace is like in the arms of someone who truly loves you for you....

  • @bullhotmoose

Beautifully said. This song puts me in a trance.
