  • amazing, cheers! x0]

  • still available for sell?

  • Hi, I had a black Guild fretless 302 from 1979 to 1982.....Nice....

  • sounds incredible!

  • Yeah man, rounds sound amazing on a fretless. The only problem (and it's a huge one) is the finger board won't last.

  • That's great, nice old school sound. I remember that bass.....

  • man were did you get that legend? oo and good improvisation

  • On a good day, I wish my playing sounded like your "rusty" playing. I have a B301F in mahogany. I love the sound with the tone dialed to 10.

  • I can't believe so many people have watched this video! I only put it online to sell the bass while it was on ebay! Had I known it would have got so many viewers I would have 1. had a shave, 2. worn nicer clothes and 3. learnt to play the fretless ha ha. I can't take it down now because of so many nice comments - cheers everyone but I promise Im just guessing on the fretless - get one and mess about - they are great instruments and create a quirky sound no fretted bass can ever produce. John.

  • Your playing is fantastic,as well as that beautiful bass!!!

  • So, has anyone ever told you that you look like Bruce Dickinson?

  • I pine for your intonation, brother. Fantastic sound, as well. They don't make them like they used to. Lol.

  • Get those roundwounds off of there unless you want to have your fingerboard all grooved up! I like your bass btw!

  • I own the matching Guild S-300 AD, and it came without the pick guard when bought new, which is surprising. What's not surprising is that this, being a Guild, has a beyond beautiful sound..

  • That sound with the octaver in the beginning.... My god... Best bass sound I've heard. I can die now.

  • I had one don't know what I did with it .....you have the 301A ash body....

  • Excellent stuff. Dang, you have strong hands.

  • My dad had one of these but then got a Jazz bass and sold this. Wish he'd bloody kept it

  • master bass w/ master player

  • Never knew Guild had this in production. What a great bass. Vastly underrated, and a real shame too. Both their guitars and basses are such hight quality.

  • thank you so much for posting this. i have this exact bass except a '64 model and i love it like a child. thank you for giving it the recognition it deserves

  • nice bass

  • amazing sound man..

  • Fuck yeah, lay it down brother! Sweet playin'.

  • im tempted to buy one of these. I found one on craigslist for 500 bucks.

  • is it 35" scale or something like that?

  • Great sound.. Nice tone..

  • Thanks for posting this!! I enjoy this clip immensely... time, after tme, after time.

  • @Diesel415 Ah thanks - thats really nice to hear - Im not really a fretless player but pretend the best I can - cheers! Im surprised at how many people have left nice comments! I'll do another one with my new toy - an Electro Harmonix bass Synth - cool.

  • i gotta get a fretless. Maybe a warwick.

  • Wow I use to won one years ago, wish I still had it. I pulled the frets and made it fretless.

  • Great sound, love that octaver. I got to fool around with one of those in a studio last week, it really optomized my sound. Lovely. Great playing.

  • Thanks for the advice. I will difnitely use it. Keep on rockin that frettless!

  • I think it sounds muc better with the tone control down, but that's the old school side of me.

  • Allrifht Westwood, you got to tell me how you do that harmonic slide up. The bassist from Pear Ham is known for that, I'd love to figure that that out.

  • I'll help you out...if you have a fretless, pluck a harmonic point on your neck then just slide your left hand up the neck... as long as you play a true harmonic point it should always work, no magic!

  • sorry man,I'll have to kill ya and take that fretlles piece of art for myself!

    lol

    great tone!

  • ciao

  • Now that is something you dont see everyday. Beautiful bass dude.

  • holy shit, that's awesome. 1) the tone and 2) I have never heard of this wonderful thing called an octaver before! I must have one

  • The reason I ask is I have a B-401. Similar in construction to your 301 but with active electronics and fretted. I find that my string selection impacts the tone of this instrument immensely. I've had a hard time finding the right sound with this instrument.

  • Fantastic sound. What strings are you using?

  • hmmm - don't honestly know -I think they are ernie balls but nickel. Certainly not flat wounds.

  • didnt expect that sound to come from it. nice job
