The spy next door looks pretty bad. It looks like the pacifier. I'm a pretty big Jackie Chan fan but I am not going to waste my money watching it. I might download it but it doesn't look that good.
Every action star has to be a babysitter for one time. Shwarzenegger in "kindergarden cop", Vin Disel in "The Pacifier", Hulk Hogan and the Dvane Johnson in "The Game Plan"
I just wanted to say that I love the fact that you are doing these Box Office Breakdowns again. I understand why you had to stop them before, but I've always loved these segments. They really showcase how we affect our movie future and warn us if a bad movie is becoming too successful. It's really because of these and the preview review of AatCM 2 that I was able to convince mt fiancee to wait for DVD to see it. * Shudders * Still dreading it though.
I completely agree with you. I love the Box Office Breakdowns and for a while I was like "Gosh, where'd they go"? But I'm glad there are a few more to enjoy. =)
And I forgot to mention... Brian Levant is one of the most horrible d-bags in Hollywood. His with Stephen Sommers, Roland Emmerich, and the horrific entity known as Seltzerberg (the "(Insert genre) Movie" guys)
Jacky Chan has done kids movies in the past. Most of his action movies are pretty light hearted and he had his own cartoon for awhile which I thought was pretty good.
& was the 80s that far removed from the 90s? or the 70s for that matter? NO this generation is unique from the standpoint that alot of the movies made are aften rehashes of old ideas.
Good stuff but I just wanted to note that Johnny Depp didn't play Jack the ripper in "From Hell". I won't spoil who did but I just wanted to clear that up for people listening.
By the way that film is criminally overlooked and people should rent or buy it. It's a terrific film and very underrated.
the only reason I can't count the non-inflation figures is because they count the old movies, and movies like Gone with the Wind have those spots because back then there wasn't as big a piracy boom nor was there any real home video set much when it came out. so it was released alot until piracy and Video were so big theatres were losing out showing old movies.
Like my dad when he paid one ticket to see all 5 planet of the apes movies, that counted as one for each movie in a re-release.
Avatar is making a lot more money than any movie ever before, except Titanic, because a majority of people are seeing it in either Imax 3D or just 3D. This is going to cause ticket prices to be almost twice as high.
huh...thanks for mentioning that...I think it might be the difference between my scripted reviews and the free flowing B.O.B. Usually when I write the review first I can read it with more focused energy. The B.O.B. is off the top of my head and a little more laid back. The Marmaduke review and Spiderman reboot vid was a little more intense cause those were scripted. If those seems lacking, then I'm not sure...maybe I need to rest a little more? :)
I'm honestly shocked at how much money Avatar has made so far (and will most likely make). Even though I loved the movie, I just didn't think it'd end up as big as it has.
i dont understand the avatar stats - how does it make so much without big "attendance"? don't people have to be going to the movie in order to make that much at the box office?
@grantkerr94 You won't have to worry about Avatar closing anytime soon. It's making so much money that I think it'll even be in theaters when March rolls along.
Jackie Chan's last great movie was 'New Police Story'. He should make more stuff like that.

I hope, jackie chans son gonna continue his work, because, sadly, jackie himself is getting old.

Adjusted for inflation, "Gone with the Wind" is still the highest grossing movie of all time.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop was one of the worst movies of 2009. If The Spy Next Door is as bad as that movie was, I'd love to bash the shit out of it.
Wait, I have seen the trailer, it does look awful. I will probably only see it in order to bash it, that's the only reason I'd see if if I'd see it.
