Hanzzee,
We have noticed that you are from the Netherlands. Your "this kid should be whipped" comment and other sarcasm we hope the Jung family finds humorous, because WE certainly don't.
You come from a land where adults urinate in public, and Marijuana, Hashish, and prostitution are sold on your filthy streets.
At least clear yourself of the "whipping" comment and apologize to the Jung family for your sick Dutch humor. If not, then please do not return to this thread.

aziangurl1004- Are you trying to turn this thread in to a subject of race? I hope not and the Jung family wouldn't appreciate it either....so please don't.
When you turn ON your computer, please turn OFF your ego before you come in here.
Always good to have 'knowledgable' folks burning the attempts of a young talent into the ground by commenting on their cognitive vs creative skills or whatever. Basically they're saying nobody should put their endeavours on a medium like YouTube unless their playing is at pro level.
Veeerrryy good advice on which knee the guitar should be put on and sharp observation about the 'connect'the dots style of a child who is learning to play. The kid should be whipped for not lifting at bar 4,8 or 16.
I see the trouble I have caused by commenting on this video in the first place. I was not really criticizing him for not "lifting," just trying to justify how I think he was taught the song. I am sorry if I stepped out of bounds, and I appreciate your telling informing me of this without cursing at me, although your sarcasm is tiresome and perhaps lost on some viewers.
Ok, suva55. It would be different perhaps if you gave the same criticism to an adult guitar player. I'm of the opinion that, especially young kids should be empowered by constructive criticism in their endeavors. If that was your aim then maybe I've misread some of your posts. Thanks.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Suva55- I see (hear) what your saying with the phrase endings. Also the 1st and 2nd inversion undertones and support lines suffer because of that fact. His teacher should teach him the role of a 6-string orchestra. Also he should have the guitar on his left knee, not trying to be Eric Clapton.
Now for the rest of you: How about that vaccuum cleaner turning on at 1:15?
He may be "amazing" because he is so young for what he is attempting. Heck, there are tons of kids out there doing all sorts of "amazing" stuff.
But there are passages and strings of phrases that get "lost in the translation" of the true free-flowing spirit of this song; a common trait of these Far East musical soldiers.
However this this kid could be "amazing" playing King Crimson's "Fracture" because of his "connect the dots" playing style.
Krsongs, good point. The chord progression is at the bar, the phrase at the 4 bar, the antecedent at the 8 bar, and the period at the 16 bar. He doesn't lift at 4, 8, or 16, meaning that he probably was taught the song in linear fashion, bar-by-bar, which gets us back to my original comment regarding memorization skill. Wonder what he could do if he were taught differently... probably amazing things! Anyway, good to talk without the childish name-calling, I appreciate it.
Your amazing kid. I just saw some of your videos and OMFG I've been playing guitar for 5 years now and you're way lot better than me. Thums up. 5 again ^^
Regardless of your views, I simply will never think you are stooping low, or acting like a child, or not acting 51 (whatever that means), and that is because I really do not know anything about you. Fair enough? Hmm?
oh but you misunderstood me. I think you are stooping low.
Anyway, This is a comment box that is made for people who wants to discuss about that kid not about your ability to twist words and insult others so pls leave. Thanks.
I believe I am discussing the music, and I think we disagree about it, but I would never ask you to leave or say you are stooping low because of your words or your views. Tell us what you think is "amazing" about this "kid" and then we will really be using these boards the way they should be used.
BTW, I appreciate "krsongs'" comments because he appears to understand the difference between cognitive and creative facility, and planned versus spontaneous dexterity tasks, and seems equally concerned about the disgraceful language used by others. Thanks, krsongs, for the insightful comments. You are obviously an experienced musician, and seem to understand one should be able to say that this is not "brilliant" without others taking it so personally. That's what chat is for.
I had no idea that claiming that this performance was not "brilliant" would cause such trouble. I think saying that I don't have talent or I'm jealous because I didn't think he was "brilliant" is absurd. I don't think telling someone who is cursing that their grammar is poor makes me a coward. There comes a stage in your musicality in which you do not have to use the f-word to make a point, and this what perhaps makes us different.
Whathegrandma- Ok ok. The kid does a good job in putting fingers on a certain part of a grid at a certain time... like Guitar Hero I guess.
Your comments certainly DO reflect a person who has "only been playing one year." You simply aren't "in the know." You have a lot to learn and you haven't the game to post such a rude comment.
i think that the comments below are just ridiculous. i have been playing for a year now and i dont have that kind of talent. probably never will. you are just jealous and you can SEE that he has passion in the way his body moves.
dont try and put him down because hes amazing. he has talent which is something "chasedisgrace" and "suva55" and "krsongs" obviously dont have.
Always funny to see how some middle-aged, frustrated trolls are downplaying the ambitions of a kid who shows talent in whatever field. Should everybody be a prodigy? And what's wrong with a child showing what he's accomplished at a very young age? What about showing us some of your brillant accomplishments? Otherwise just shut the fuck up!
Ha Ha...ya I agree too. Just another young Asian machine trying to perfect something they see, hear, want. He isn't necessarily a sincere, genuine musician...yet. He IS however, a competitor. In this video he competes against timing, accuracy, and execution.
i have to say, saying 'asian machine' is very rude in my opinion, because you seem to be implying that all asian children strive to be prodigys and the like. which is not entirely true.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, it is not brilliant. It is simply rote memorization of finger motions. It's the same as a child reciting Shakespeare or any other primarily linear accomplishment. It is, however, highly enjoyable and refreshing to see children accomplishing something besides higher scores on videogames.
i don't agree with the comments made above. If you have studied the guitar for over ten years, and you see somebody like him play, even if he were 30 years old, it's still heartwarming and impressive. even if he doesn't write his own music, it's still an achievement to play so many songs so good and with an own style.
see his latest vids and see how fuck up you acted. you may never rich the talent he is in now ...saying that .. we see the insecurity you gave for your sorry self
I see your hobbies are listed as "playing guitar, pen spinning, drawing, watching anime, reading manga." Your hobbies should include spelling and grammar, as I can barely understand what you are trying to say.
and you should include racism in yours since im not american, thank you for insulting my heritage and i see your hobby is insulting people thats a very good hobby.... keep it up >>. since you dont seem to have any hobby at all.
Man that is really low. Considering your age, you act like a child tsk, you stoop so low, hitting below the belt. You fail man, such a coward. Next time act like your 51. Not like 15.
Lame.
Anyway, this kid is great, I'd be watching your videos. Keep it up.
actually, just the memorization of the finger motions is pretty cool, because sure as heck i wouldnt be able to do that. i however have to strongly disagree about the vidoegame comment because that isnt true for many children.
man you're so good, i can't believe it, you make me wanna learn the guitar, i think that in some years you'll be a superstar, you're just eleven and better than plenty of professionals!
For 11 years old, you are on a wonderful path. However, you need to get into better right hand technique immediately. It's tense, shaky, and producing a very thin sound. Work exercises that focus on tone production. You're making music, you have to strive for beautiful tone, always. Pierre is difficult, but you play it better than most I've seen on youtube. Also, cleaning up the tuplets will have a profound impact on this performance.
You go son! Look forward to seeing you on stage for the world tour! (PS. Yes Dave, harmonics anywhere on the guitar, except below fret 4. Roughly a third of fret positions give natural harmonics, and artificial harmonics can then put those anywhere.)
Give the kid a break, Limbic! He has tiny hands! He'll grow into the playing and so will his style and finesse. All it will take is time. Given that most ADULTS cannot play this well or with such feeling, this is amazing for such a young kid. Plus you can see he's really feeling the music, not just copying what he coached to play. Sick and phenomenal at the same time.
how does he cover 4 frets with his 4 tiny fingers... excellent and still manage to use fingering techniques.. good job dude u have a bright future in guitar
(mouth agape) wow, pure genius. Reminescent of the prodigal Korean-American violinist Sarah Chang. he should seek out her agent and they should go out on tour together.
I am floored that you have tackled such a demanding piece in an alternate tuning at your age. I hope whoever was running the vacuum cleaner? while you were recording recognizes your talent and efforts. I see great things in your future whatever you decide to persue.
omg...that really is amazing. I should have started playing at a much younger age. You're doin' great, kid! Keep on playing! By the way, what's the name of this beautiful piece?
I think I could barely tie my shoes at 11....this is truly amazing. Pierre's music is very difficult but even though this is a bit raw in tone control...the kid has some of the more difficult aspects down; the expression is very much in Pierre's style. If he works on his tone control in the right hand he will be superb. Wow!
i love u sungha.

Otherwise just shut the fuck up!

he has his own music, he wrote two of them, go to his channel to view his profile, it says he wrote two songs.. great rendition!

Ha Ha...ya I agree too. Just another young Asian machine trying to perfect something they see, hear, want. He isn't necessarily a sincere, genuine musician...yet. He IS however, a competitor. In this video he competes against timing, accuracy, and execution.
krsongs 3 years ago
i have to say, saying 'asian machine' is very rude in my opinion, because you seem to be implying that all asian children strive to be prodigys and the like. which is not entirely true.

No, it is not brilliant. It is simply rote memorization of finger motions. It's the same as a child reciting Shakespeare or any other primarily linear accomplishment. It is, however, highly enjoyable and refreshing to see children accomplishing something besides higher scores on videogames.

I agree. Until he starts writing music, I can't really say that it's anything ground breaking.
ChaseDisgrace 3 years ago
i don't agree with the comments made above.

Katantoon,
I see your hobbies are listed as "playing guitar, pen spinning, drawing, watching anime, reading manga." Your hobbies should include spelling and grammar, as I can barely understand what you are trying to say.
suva55 3 years ago
and you should include racism in yours since im not american, thank you for insulting my heritage and i see your hobby is insulting people thats a very good hobby.... keep it up >>. since you dont seem to have any hobby at all.
katantoon 3 years ago 3
Man that is really low. Considering your age, you act like a child tsk, you stoop so low, hitting below the belt. You fail man, such a coward. Next time act like your 51. Not like 15.
Lame.
Anyway, this kid is great, I'd be watching your videos. Keep it up.
crumpledpaper01 3 years ago 2
actually, just the memorization of the finger motions is pretty cool, because sure as heck i wouldnt be able to do that. i however have to strongly disagree about the vidoegame comment because that isnt true for many children.
aziangurl1004 3 years ago
If I had said: "American" or "white" machine... would you have taken offense? Be careful how you answer this aziangurl1004.
krsongs 3 years ago
actually, for the american one i would, because i am an american citizen.
aziangurl1004 3 years ago
Sure you can do it... just like you can do a video game. It just takes practice and a will (or need) to do it.

heddykevy 4 years ago 3
For 11 years old, you are on a wonderful path. However, you need to get into better right hand technique immediately. It's tense, shaky, and producing a very thin sound. Work exercises that focus on tone production. You're making music, you have to strive for beautiful tone, always. Pierre is difficult, but you play it better than most I've seen on youtube. Also, cleaning up the tuplets will have a profound impact on this performance.
heddykevy 4 years ago 2
great but you need to improve the performance part, it sound like forced to play instead of calmly like it is, anyway excelente video, keep em coming

You go son! Look forward to seeing you on stage for the world tour! (PS. Yes Dave, harmonics anywhere on the guitar, except below fret 4. Roughly a third of fret positions give natural harmonics, and artificial harmonics can then put those anywhere.)
ratelect 4 years ago
Give the kid a break, Limbic! He has tiny hands! He'll grow into the playing and so will his style and finesse. All it will take is time. Given that most ADULTS cannot play this well or with such feeling, this is amazing for such a young kid. Plus you can see he's really feeling the music, not just copying what he coached to play. Sick and phenomenal at the same time.

Wow!
