  • The cost of rebuilding depends upon the shop.  This is essentially the same rebuild as a stock 4.0L inline six. Done properly, the cost should be the same as a 4.0L rebuild plus the addition of the 4.2L crankshaft and higher flow fuel injectors to compensate for the engine size increase...See the 4WD Mechanix Magazine website for more details.   • hi guys i got a jeep G Cherokee 2000 bu about a week ago engine blow and i would like to rebuild it with my 14 old son could be a nice project for us so how much do you think i will need to rebuild this engine 4.0 6L thanks.
