The CG looks like good old school puppet effects. Well, maybe a little better. Once you over look the effects though, this is a great show. And it's not like it's a high buget movie or somthing, so the effects are forgivable.
Gwen is such a lucky girl! She's got wonderful Lancelot holding a torch for her and as of the finale it looks like sexy Arthur is starting to like her too.
Gah! It is too much, but not really, I LOVE it!
This was one of my favorite episodes and I loved the last fight with the Griffin with Lancelot being oh-so-noble, charging on his valiant steed with Merlin casting a pretty impressive spell and the music made the moment almost epic!
Chipping in late to the race discussion:even being 'purist' to the legends, why does it matter? In some versions Guinevere was descended from Romans, and there's no reason they couldn't have been black Romans. The Arthurian mythos encompasses thousands of stories, most of them contradictory. Besides which, trying to impose accuracy on a show where where Guinevere is a blacksmiths daughter,Morgan and Arthur aren't related and they all eat potatoes and tomatoes seems kinda ridiculous.
Maybe put it down to an education and not being a total fucking moron? If others didn't know what that was they shouldn't be allowed out on their own.
what?!!!! how bludey racist r u!!!! i fink shes really gd just coz it was written in a time wen every1 was white dnt mean they all have to b white now - i mean what wold Britain be without its culture and diffrent races!!!! so DONT BE BLUDEY RACIST!!!!
You're right, where would be Britain without it's rich multi-cultural heritage? Britain is a better place for it but you've answered your own gripe. It is meant to be set in time when there weren't any black people around and that is my point. Guinevere is supposed to be a noble Celtic rose not black. I'm not racist but purist to the story and the word is bloody, by the way.
Don't be so thick. It's not a contemporary show. It was set in a time when there were pretty much no one but whites in Britain and it would be historically inaccurate to fill it with multicultural characters.
sooo it doesnt have to be "historicaly accurate" I mean Merlin didn't even exist - he was just a ledgend - so you can't ever be completley "historically accurate" in that program anyway
"Pretty much no but but" =/= none at all. There would have been (assuming a Dark Ages setting a few generations after the Romans left) black Roman descendants; some, very limited, trade abroad and such things- it's unlikely, but not completely impossible. Anyway, Merlin seems to be going for a generic English Fantasyland setting than any specifc, historically accurate time.
comparing to potter you have to realize they probably only had a few weeks to do this creature compared to over 1 year for potter griffin. Its pretty cool. Sound is a bit crazy though. hah
I think it was a really good idea for a show but it's been a bit of a hit and miss at times for me and the CGI is quite bad. But I couldn't do any better, so yeah.
yeh but remember if u where makin your own movie i bet u'd love CGI as good as that. I know I would. Gees I'd settle for 2D effects on stuff I make lol. But yeh ur rite it is easy 2 look past on TV
errr is it just me or is this part cut and pasted from a Harry Potter film????!! You know the bit where the winged monster attacks.. hey wait a minute!

Im having trouble believing Griffins/ Gryphons (However you spell it) are evil.
Generally in mythology Gryphons are noble creatures and dragons are the evil ones.
I3radley 1 year ago
@I3radley So maybe the plot twist is that Merlin is also evil.... eh didn't see that one coming...

Did anyone else think themselves sad because they recognised it as a griffin? I blame the Midland Bank ads of the 1980s

What a load of shit. I'm all for seeing ethnic diversity in programming but a black Guinevere? That's gone too far.
umbongo82 3 years ago
Yeah, because her skin colour totally effects the storyline and changes everything. [/sarcasm]
