  • love it. soulful, sometimes explosive, i love this slow version. I prefer when bruce plays guitar cuz it looks kinda awkward sometimes when it's just him but on this one it doesn't matter

  • Amazing!!

  • Can't wait to show my dad this video he was at this concert, and he passed his love of amazing music onto me. I love Bruce

  • @chloebeth2

Excellent, Chloe. I'm sure he'll love it.

  • ..."in England and stuff." Great performer/musician but a dunce where it really counts.

  • @redwonder

How many Thunder Roads have you penned, then?

  • after this tour he shaved and came out in a suit jacket, 1976, saw him in Springfield Mass, he did Because the Night, and encored with Born to Run. It was the only time I was ever able to get right up front to the stage at one of his shows, it was general admission with floor seating. I looked right up at his hands flying through the fast picking instrumental middle section to Born to Run. One of the best times of my life,

  • @outerrealm

I used to describe him in the suit period as what it'd look like if Al Pacino played Elvis.

  • The best there is, the best there ever was , the best there ever will be.

  • Did anyone else who looks like bruce run out and buy this outfit. Also I love how he's the only one not wearing a suit

  • I can't believe he's wearing that hat,it's gotta be burnin under those lights & Bruce works up a pretty good sweat as such a physical performer.

  • If they looked like him and wore the outfit.....they would have no idea what I would do to them......

  • I absolutely love his weird jerky dance during the solo!!!

  • Me too I assume thats what the E street shuffel is

  • aaaah, miami steve, that there is some sweet slide geetar... and this about what, 3 years ahead of the same lines that jackson browne used on his live record? well, i'll give browne credit for rippin a good source.

  • Wow I strongly disagree yodhe they keep on getting better and better they still have the same energy they had 20 years ago, everything is awesome except patti scalfa

  • this is one cool jam!!!!

  • I do believe the old E Street Band was so very much tighter than the group is now,

ashame. But i got to see them when they were at their best.

  • one of the greatest hidden gems on youtube, talk about greatness by bruce.

  • pretty much the greatest concert ever

  • I loved this song on The Wild, The Innocent mainly because of the amazing ridiculous ending

but this version is out of this world and Miami Steve's solo gets my heart rate up everytime

  • @slvtnplt

It's like five pop songs in one, the length of a prog rock song but so much better. The ensemble middle section is brilliant, then when that sax solo comes in it lifts like a booster rocket. I had it on a bootleg in 1978 and I still rip runs off Bruce's solo from it. Big influence on my own playing and underrated as a lead guitarist. He once said he was flattered that Nils would disappear and he'd have wandered over to Bruce's amp to check his solo. Nils got it.

  • Best version of the song, the album version is ok but if he done it this way instead it would be a classic. Love the feeling and soul this slower version has.

  • What a bunch of soulful musicians! Hard to find something similar these days.

  • Play it Stevie!

  • wow.. This version is fucking AMAZING. I'm not a huge fan of the cd version but this??? WOW

  • Isn't he just lovely!

  • little angel dance the shuffle like she got no brains, she's deaf from combat, she's a killer she's a murderess she's the queen, way down on lovers lane.gotta love the cool screen name

  • xcelent no comments the boss is just one for sure great music on 1975 today there are not a lot of bands doing what their did in 1975

  • The original version is good, but might be the weakest song on The Wild, the Innocent. This version is just incredible.

  • holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck

    LOVE IT!

  • that opening is so catchy

  • best version of the song in my opinion

  • This version sounds a bit like Van Morrison's "Tupelo Honey". Love it!

  • have you ever heard his cover/medley of tupelo honey/crazy love?

  • that sounds awesome,if it's been bootlegged which pretty much every concert he's done has, somebody has it,i'll put my feelers out.

  • it's hard to listen to the original after hearing this version, the piano intro and the melodic guitar riffs so cool.

  • 3:00- Bruce invents the robot

  • hahah thats very funny

  • now I have to look for Pt.2, thanks

  • teenage tramps in the skin tight pants doin the e street dance

  • I absolutely love this version of the song. I would change one thing. The intro that was done at the Bottom Line show in New York City was what caused me to become a Life Long Fan of da BOSS. Great humor, with an E-Street Band history lesson thrown in for good measure.

  • stevie's guitar solo in this video is one of my favorite of all time. it isnt too fancy but his tone with the slide is beautiful.

  • "sparks fly on e-street"

    love that line :)

  • Bruce is the greatest. And what alot of people dont realize is how great of a guitarist he is too. The only reason he doesn't play guitar solos like Slash or Eddie Van Halen all the time is cause its such a big band that he wants everyone else to play too. He doesnt really like to "take the lime light". Keep rocking Bruce, just like always.

  • I remember reading a quote from someone who was a regular at the Upstage (one of Bruce's old New Jersey haunts); "jamming with Bruce was like having Einstein come over to help do your homework".

The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle is one of the best albums ever. :D

  • Yup!

  • his lyrics are always so good...no one now can match them

  • Bruce Springsteen is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how many young bands now can match up to this. very, very few.

  • I'd say none, not few.

  • UMMMMM.....NONE!!!!!!!!

  • zero

  • i say NONE

  • Play it Steve!

  • This is great! The E Street Band had a really soulful, jazzy sound in the early days. Even though I love their later stuff I always go back to those first three albums, when they had everything to prove. Sparks fly on E Street!

  • Exactly ;)

  • This is WAY better than the original. I got this performance from 75 on disc, and I can't stop listening to it.

    Legendary night.

  • A truly legendary night! I'd give everything to be there that night(thous I wasn't even born than haha).

The boss is the best, greets from Slovenia

  • same here I just finished to listening to it a minute ago

  • This is WAY better than the original. I got this performance from 75 on disc, and I can't stop listening to it.

    Legendary night.

  • It's so... ahhhhhh.

    can totally enjoy this.

  • after hearing this version of the song,i can't even listen to the original anymore, sounds like a completely different song.

  • i dont know what it is about this song, but it's great. it has to be feeling the guys put out. you can tell these guys love making this music and can have fun with it as well. i love it when a group can show that enthusiasm in a live performance. early bruce has to be the best bruce.

stevie on slide is pretty nifty as well.

  • the "E street Shuffle" is a sound..that is what is about...

    the boss is the greatest..

  • Is this taken from a DVD. If it is, what DVD is it?

  • I totally love this version of his song.

  • Grandissimo Bruce, non ho più parole per descriverlo.

E il 25 Giugno 2008 tutti a San Siro, MIlano!!!!!!

  • Who cares about the hats? Just listen to that piano . Thanks Glammer for posting all the video of that wonderful hammersmith gig.

  • "So, how's things going over here in England and stuff?" hahaha.

  • I've never heard a band overcome bad hats and '70s shirt collars better than these guys in this England performance. Ok, I like the contrast with Bruce's pre-grunge look. Fuck it, it's sho-biz, after all, but in this case, and anything else from this concert that I have seen, it's much, much more. I listen to this shit before I go to a gig...

  • I think I just came in my pants

  • i like this much better than the studio version. especially bruce's giggling here and there...

  • You gotta love the jazzy, 70's touch to the song. if this version was released today it would hit the top ten easily, I reckon

  • yea i love when he does that soul/rhytm and blues thing.

  • Well said!

  • i prefer the studio version

  • Where can I buy this version?

  • it's on the born to run box set that came out a couple years ago--the studio album plus a cd/dvd of this show. I'm not a serious springsteen fan, but that concert is amazing...so full of energy!

  • this is possibly one of the bravest and most amazingly cool performances I've seen from Springsteen. I'd say the fans were absolutely devastated by his and his band's talent

  • I've heard a couple of attempts at "E Street Shuffle" live but I much prefer the full version on the "The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle."

  • Bette Midler used to do a version similar to this.

  • little Angel dances the shuffle like she's got no brains. She's a a killer , she's a murderess, she's a queen.
