I don't really think ALL of DF's songs sound the same though. Inhuman Rampage definitely sounded pretty much the same the whole way through, but their other albums are a little more diverse than everyone believes.

I've tried Symphony X too, it's not the kind of music that I like... but I don't go to their YT videos and start hating them. Nah, they've kinda musically typecast themselves as overly cheesy power-metal with the last 2 records I admit, but "Valley..." and "Sonic Firestorm" got me into all sorts of melodic/power/symphonic/traditional metal, and I know the band have worked their arse off, so I've not a bad word to say.
Herman Li is something of a comic relief character for his constant use of the word "cool", the Pac-Man obsession and because his accent is actually quite unique.

Something funny: the drums are playing, mostly, the EXACT SAME PATTERN. The only good point about those clips, IMO, is the leads. The melodies sound like a faster, higher-pitched version of early In Flames.
I appreciate dragonforce can't replicate stuff live...but "studio magic"? no way. As a music tech student I can comfortably say that it would be pretty hard to artificially replicate some of the dragonforce solos.
I'm not denying that they probably use a shitload of over-dubs, cutting and pasting, and getting a section wrong 599 times before that 1 time it goes right. I mean the most important thing about a studio recording is the arrangement right, not if "it can all be played 100% on stage"

I wasn't trying to bring Dragonforce down man, but I can assure you Iron Maiden (also British) have been more successful than Dragonforce throughout the 80's and early 90's. And Inhuman Rampage was shortly after GH3 was realeased. And nothings wrong with it, but because these 12 and 13 year olds with no knowledge of music, see that a song is very hard, and very fast in Guitar Hero, they go and listen to a band. I can list plenty of more complex songs, that are half the speed.

Nah, they've kinda musically typecast themselves as overly cheesy power-metal with the last 2 records I admit, but "Valley..." and "Sonic Firestorm" got me into all sorts of melodic/power/symphonic/traditional metal, and I know the band have worked their arse off, so I've not a bad word to say.

I have to say I liked Valley of the Damned when I heard it in like, 2005... Then the next thing I heard was inhuman rampage and it just sucked hardcore. Their music is a headache inducing A chord sped up like mad.

Something funny: the drums are playing, mostly, the EXACT SAME PATTERN. The only good point about those clips, IMO, is the leads. The melodies sound like a faster, higher-pitched version of early In Flames.

I saw them live because my friend had a spare ticket so I thought why not, it's a free gig.
I went, and they couldn't play many songs without making mistakes.
But I guess, Through The Fire And Flames is alright.
But I can't help thinking how much studio magic was involved...

I appreciate dragonforce can't replicate stuff live...but "studio magic"? no way. As a music tech student I can comfortably say that it would be pretty hard to artificially replicate some of the dragonforce solos.
I'm not denying that they probably use a shitload of over-dubs, cutting and pasting, and getting a section wrong 599 times before that 1 time it goes right. I mean the most important thing about a studio recording is the arrangement right, not if "it can all be played 100% on stage"

Dragonforce's "studio magic" is very bad. There are very obvious "seams" where they have copy/pasted their stuff, and also some places where they have pitched the vocals sound really terrible and fake. Dragonforce sucks.

I dont know where you beloved john petrucci is from or how successful he is, but what i just said is fact. Inhuman Rampage sold 300,000 copies in america, and half a million worldwide. And tbh, i dont see what is wrong with a song being on guitar hero? people just happened to like that song which just happened to be by dragonforce. there are loads of other songs and bands on there aswell.

I wasn't trying to bring Dragonforce down man, but I can assure you Iron Maiden (also British) have been more successful than Dragonforce throughout the 80's and early 90's. And Inhuman Rampage was shortly after GH3 was realeased. And nothings wrong with it, but because these 12 and 13 year olds with no knowledge of music, see that a song is very hard, and very fast in Guitar Hero, they go and listen to a band. I can list plenty of more complex songs, that are half the speed.

First of all, I said in the US, not the world. And I actually misread that fact. They are the most successful british metal band in the us for two decades, if that makes a difference. And if a band's popularity will increase if a song of theirs is in the most popular music video game ever, then why not? You must not forget that there's many more bands on that Guitar Hero III that have also gained popularity because of it. So don't go slagging off dragonforce because theyve got the hardest.

that's really not true. i saw them a few weeks back in cardiff, and theyre just as fast on stage. true, the sound gets merged a couple of times, but i could follow every song perfectly. so, unless youve already seen them in concert, don't make such a stupid accusation.

ah, now you're right about the guitarist - i reckon sam totman was drunk when i saw them, although not by a lot. if they were sloppy then, they've really tightened up now, theyve definitely sped up as well, and i can probably agree with you about the singer point as well - the others did look a little lost (on stage that is, not musically)

Actually, Dragonforce isn't better than anybody. Are their guitarists good at playing guitar? Sure. The single act of playing the instrument. But that doesn't mean anythng if you can't write to save your life. As a band- and that is, to say, a group of musicians writing and performing songs- Dragonforce is complete garbage. But I think the video fails because it was a garbage idea to begin with.
The "Greatest Hits Promo" is very funny, and particularly poignant for its farsical nature.

No, I don't have to admit to your wishes and fantasies, because much to your dismay, they don't sound anything alike (here, compare "E.P.M." and "Soldiers of the Wasteland") and they are not "waaay" more famous than they should be; To be technically correct, their song "Through the Fire and Flames" is the most commercial song of theirs, but they are not, by any means, overly famous.
