im learning this on piano, and im having our cello repaired so that i can start learning that. you did a wonderful job. im 15 and have played piano for 9 years at a university music prep program. so this kinda makes me want to study harder.
fascinating colors that resonate from this piece and your cello. a bit narrow on the vibrato, other than that wonderful, and thank you for sharing, it was very enjoyable and i appreciate this.
so beautiful i second what that guy just said i wanna play Cello now :O ive watched this video so many times i cant get over how awesome this piece is. I wanna learn it on marimba ( Im a percussionist)
Great cellist, very sensitive. The piano is just too small, that's why it sounds a bit like furniture, thou the pianist is good too. The amazing thing is the fact that tempo is perfect, and musical interpretation, frasing, one of the best I heard. You can hear this too fast, too slow, all kinds of strange interpretations. This is just music, from inside.
this is the only decent version I can find and evrytime Time I want to listen I spent about a minute listening to you chatting, ore trying to find the beginning!
excellent! I have to play this for a friend's wedding (flute & piano). But, because I've been out of music for a bit, i needed a lot of help! this is awesome :-) Thanks!
You played absolutely amazingly. I love the tone of this piece, and the emotion it gives. And for comedic touch, I looked closely, and saw you had a broken bow hair hanging from the tip of the bow almost the entire video lol
This video's helped me get the 'feel' of the piece. I play the cello, too, and I think I got to know it much more now. Thanks! You play so beautifully.
Your playing does Faure great justice. I find Faure to be a genius at painting picture inside ones head with only music, with or without a textual setting. I was first introduced to his music through my voice teacher, I sang "Mai" then "Ici-bas" and now my new love, "Aurore." Your musicality inspires me.
Yes! I love singing Faure. The "Requiem" is one of my favorite choral pieces because he wrote well for the voice. Check out the "Agnus Dei" section sometime. The whole thing is amazing, but that is my favorite section.
These notes haunt me and make goosebumps all over my body. This songs moves and touches me in a very metaphysical way. There's something about it that touches my subconscious, like a memory from a distant past or previous life. I swear I can almost feel my memory trying to jog itself, recalling things long forgotten. Sicilienne is deeply invoking.
I played this piece for my punultimate grade last year. Most of the time i leave pieces, primarily because they just weren't nice pieces to play. I couldn't wait to come back to this piece - for me it is so relaxed that you can picture that sleepy summers evening. I will never tire from this piece.
up until i found out about cello journey i had thought that julian lloyd webber was the best cellist i have heard, but you are really amazing.
i play clarinet and saxophone, but i have recently become obsessed with the cello, you play all of my favorite pieces and it's wonderful to listen to.
I love your idea of making a "journey" where you play some of the most important plays for cello. It's realy helpfull for people like me and other that simply wanna know a little more about cello. Good job man :)
you'd be suprised. my teenage son plays a lot of these medieval style role play games and the soundtracks are absolutely stunning. yes, it may not be the actual 'sicilienne', but could be something very similar.
Does anybody happen to know what video game this is from. It's killing me because I know I've heard it somewhere. I want to say dragon warrior monsters for gbc but im not sure. Does anyone here happen to know?
I'm a french young pianist/cellist and my boyfriend is a cellist and we are learning this piece of Faure and you play very well but we don't agree with your interpretation. indeed you don't use all the sound that your cello can emit so it's a pity! we don't hear the "question answer game" like on bar 8 we don't hear that the piano plays the theme... but you're technique is pretty good.
Thanks a lot, I'm learning this for a grade in December and I have been looking for a nice version of someone playing it so I know what it's meant to sound like.
Waaaah,it really is touching,I really love the sound of the cello! After I finish playing the piano and the flute I am surely going to learn the cello! No doubt about it ! :D
Your video of fantasiestucke was really good too :)
Por cierto ... Congrats! por los videos "Cello Journey" me gusta mucho que haya una pequeña introduccion historica, es muy importante para cualquier musico saber que es lo que esta tocando, es basico! Felicidades y al pianista tambien
You guys play well (the piano is not too loud). Too bad this could not have been recorded on a better piano. You guys could come to my house to record on my 7'5" Steinway, but I live in Stuttgart, Germany. You still could come, if you want. Have difficulty hearing your comments. I have my computer set to the loudest setting.... the music is soft and the spoken parts even softer.
