Keep in mind that poverty is a buisness. I dont know how many times I have seen that comercial with the kid with the fly on his mouth. And all for a cup of coffee you can send him to school and so on.....but truth is many of those kids are actually gangsters....so your money is in some cases being used to buy vodka for some young gangster. We are given an image but the reality is way different. Malaria deaths in africa is drug resistant variaty.....not easily preventable death.....
@quicksandr Poverty is be a business, true, and some of those kids may be gangsters, but they are only that way because they have to be in order to survive in that environment, just like here in America. The unemployment rate keeps rising because of technological unemployment and outsourcing, and it's just going to keep rising, meanwhile the value of the dollar continues to drop because the Fed keeps pumping more money into the system without creating new (lasting) jobs.
@AnarchistAsh I think the economic collapse is a good thing because it will force change. I think its hard to come up with a group solution to what is happening. Simply writing off belief systems such as money and religion as being ignorant and hollow is sort of a non-solution. This venus project is appealing to transhumanists but for regular people there must be alternative programs. On an individual level people do need to choose between love and fear.

Trying to hold on to the monetary system is choosing fear.
